You heard gunshots, people come in and evacuate everybody. They brought in the fire department. Reporter he lives in the fulton apartments in redwood city. He knows the man who fired shots, heard him arguing with police before he sent bullets across the courtyard. He seemed like he was probably drunk since he refused to cooperate. Reporter got a call from a subject who was reporting that he felt suicidal. He told us he had ingested some prescription medicine. Reporter for six hours lieutenant sean hartz said investigators talked to the suspect on the phone while they notified neighbors and put two nearby schools on lockdown. We thought he was trying to evade suicide by cop scenario. Reporter fortunately police were able to talk the suspect down, and he surrendered around 8 00 this morning. Nobody was injured. Right now the suspect is at a hospital to be checked out. Later he will be booked and charged. They dont know if any of the shots hit the driver but the car likely has bullet holes in it. New concern about facebooks response to sexually explicit material involving children. According to the bbc, only 18 of the 100 images it reported were removed. Facebooks automatic reply came back to the bbc and said the other 82 did not breach community standards. Well, the bbc said they then asked a u. K. Facebook exec for an interview on this, who then provide the bbc provide examples of that illegal content in question. The bbc says facebook canceled the interview, and get this, reported the bbc reporters to police for sending the requested posts via email because sending that on line is considered a crime. Facebook responded. They say, we take this matter extremely seriously and we continue to improve our reporting and take down measures. Mayor ed lee has approved four new positions in the Public Defenders Office to represent immigrants in danger of deportation. Three new attorneys and one paralegal will start working april 1st. The Public Defenders Office says having an attorney means a person is seven times more likely to have a successful outcome in deportation court. The supervisor hopes this years budget can make these positions permanent. Meantime, lawyers are trying to figure out whether the president s new travel ban will pass the legal test. It still targets muslim majority nations, but this time iraq is not on the list. Anyone with a visa granted before january 27th can still travel to the u. S. As for refugees, this new order will not favor christians. State Homeland Security and justice Officials Say the new order is needed to improve public safety.
