Among the victims, 43yearold transit officer Brent Thompson who got married just two weeks ago. We are heartbroken. There are no words to describe the atrocity that occurred to our city. All i know is that this must stop. Reporter after a stand off, Police Killing one of the gun men, 25yearold Micah Johnson using an explosive device. At least three other suspects taken into custody. To all americans, i ask you, i implore you, do not let this precipitate a new normal in this country. Reporter and johnson reportedly telling police that bombs were left all over this area. Officials have just released the photograph of officer michael krol, he worked for Dallas Police. You see the next picture there of officer patrick zamarripa. He survived three tours of duty in iraq only to be killed at home. A dart officer and newlywed Brent Thompson, prior to working in the transit police, he Trained Police in iraq and afghanistan. Officer blane salamoni, a four year veteran and officer howie lake, have received a accommodations during their careers but both also investigated and exonerated in separate incidents for use of force. Sterlings family in response to the dallas shootings say in a statement, regardless of how angry or upset people may be, resorting to this sickening violence should never happen and simply cannot be tolerated. Back here, Oakland Police are stepping up their patrols and safety protocol in the wake of a chaotic night in the city. Reporter the Police Department was vandalized last night. They had to board up their front door. They did make an arrest here and they expect to make more. Theyre looking at social media and surveillance cameras to help them with their investigation. As they recover from last night, protests, theyre preparing for another one tonight. The clean up started early this morning in oakland. City crews work to erase antipolice messages left behind at the Police Station from last nights protest. The front doors glass was shattered and red paint was thrown at the door. Police here werent focused on the damage this morning. Although we did experience some vandalism, broken windows, spray paint, we really would like to focus on the larger conversation and that larger conversation is the unfortunate tragedy that occurred in dallas. Reporter oaklands assistant police chief ordered his officers to now double up in their patrol cars until further notice. Not only the safety for the officers but also for the community. We need to be safe in order to provide the service to our community. I understand the anger, i understand the rage, but not the vandalism. It counter productive to the message that were trying to get out. Reporter Police Describe the crowd last night as mostly peaceful. Protesters gathered in front of the Police Station and marched to interstate 880. They forced it to be shut down for about five hours. Bottles were thrown at chp officers and arrests were made. Another protest is set for tonight and residents arent sure what to expect. Hopefully it is a peaceful protest, hopefully. You know what im saying . Who knows. Everybody got their own mind frame about what happened. Everybody feel differently about it. Reporter police tell us they made five arrests last night and issued a citation and that no one was hurt. We reached out to foot locker where the windows were broken.
