Happening tonight, San Francisco teachers will vote on whether to authorize a strike. Months of labor negotiations have failed to produce a new contract with the school district. The main Sticking Point is money. The union is asking for a 21 raise over three years. The district is offering an 8. 5 raise. Tonights vote would not trigger a strike, but it would allow the union to schedule a strike vote in september. So there is still time to reach a settlement. The family of a girl hit and killed by a fire truck is suing the city of San Francisco. The family claims San Francisco firefighters and police failed to rescue the 16yearold. She was near the asiana wreckage when she was run over in 2013. No comment yet from the city attorneys office. President obama just addressed the growing unrest in ferguson, missouri. This follows another night of chaos between police and protesters. After the Police Shooting death of an unarmed 18yearold Michael Brown. Were joined from the newsroom now. On top of everything else, hackers are trying to cause a problem. Reporter they released what they say is the name of the officer. But the police chief said it is the wrong name. Youre looking at protests right now in ferguson. The chief refusing to release the officers name. He says its too dangerous. That his officers and himself are getting Death Threats daily. A threat that appears to have been realized, the st. Louis county Police Department has lost email. Its possible they were hacked. President obama weighed in this morning. He says the department of justice and fbi are investigating. Nows the time for healing. Nows the time for peace and calm on the streets of ferguson. Now is the time for an open and transparent process to see that justice is done. And ive asked that the attorney general and the u. S. Attorney on the scene continue to work with local officials to move that process forward. They will be reporting to me in the coming days. Reporter the president talked with the governor of missouri this morning as nixon arrived in ferguson. He talked with members at a church and said hes going to make an announcement about operational shifts regarding law enforcements later today. Ferguson did see more violence last night. Some protesters threw molotov cocktails and bricks at police. There have been protests every day in ferguson since Michael Brown was shot and killed saturday. Brown was not armed. Today the police chief is supposed to meet with browns family. That would be for the first time. Police are standing by ready for a possible new protest today. Abc 7 news. Thanks. Meantime, president obama says the u. S. Has broken the Islamic Militant siege on iraqs mountain. He says air strikes will continue in iraq to help thousands of people once trapped there come down. The president says the situation has greatly improved after the Islamic States Group advance in iraq drew tens of thousands of civilians from their homes. And its also unlikely more air drops of food and water will be needed. Now to the death of robin williams. Several users on twitter sent disturbing images and messages to williams daughter zelda. Twitter has suspended the accounts of the suspected bullies and says we will not tolerate abuses of this nature. High pressure took over last night while we were sleeping and brought in some warmer air. But most of that warm air is going to be inland. So lets look at this temperature. You can see them in the mid to upper 80s around los gatos. The boardwalk, 75. Looks like upper 70s to 80 down in the south bay. Mid to upper 70s, thats what we have on the peninsula today. Mid to upper 60s along the coast nap will also include the bay side. Downtown, south San Francisco over towards socilito. How about in the north bay valley with 69 in berkeley. But low to mid70s most of the east bay shore. The farther from the water, warmer at 77. Then mid 80s to low 90s in our east bay inland neighborhood. Close to air conditioning weather. If you like classic cars, theyve got them tonight and hot rods in danville. 79 at 7 00 and then well see stars and 71 degrees at 9 00. Here it is. The stick living up to its reputation.
