They have also called for a special meeting where the negotiators will join them to get a handle on where they stand on their side of negotiations. 30 minutes ago we got video of Union Negotiators arriving for negotiations today and the contract talks are resuming. Yesterday, bart and the unions representing their workers presented five hours to the board of inquiry. They are at odds other wages, benefits, pension and safety. The board will delivery a written report on the status of the gas do Governor Brown by friday. The governor will decide whether to call for a 60day cooling off period meaning unions can not strike, trains will still run, and negotiations will continue. Bart management wants the couping off period but Union Workers do not. Both agree they do not want a strike to happen on monday which would be the case if this sundays deadline is not met somehow. Everyone is very eager to get back to the table to get to a deal. The next few days will be very telling if there is a lot of movement that will be good progress. Otherwise, it is the governor extending another 60 days what happens will be what happened last 30 days. The chief negotiator goes on vacations they do not come to the table and we drag this along. As negotiations proceed, bart says the two sides are 100 million apart in the proposals but the Union Leaders i spoke with morning say they are only 50 million apart. Bart is proposing a four Year Contract and Union Workers and their representatives are proposing a threeYear Contract. A lot of issues and anyway you slice it both sides are very far apart.
