In minneapolis, those protests and the dark turn, fires set to more than a dozen buildings. One person found shot dead. Stores destroyed, some businesses burned down. And the anger spreading elsewhere, to memphis, for one, where protesters were in an angry confrontation with police. In los angeles, demonstrators linking arms across a highway, halting traffic downtown. The outrage, of course, sparked by those images. George floyd lying on the street, a Police Officers knee on his neck. Floyd can be heard saying, i cant breathe. He was unresponsive when medics arrived. So, tonight, in that rare move moments ago, authorities coming out to reveal no decision on any possible charges, but instead, saying they are committed to a thorough, immediate investigation, all in an effort to calm a city, a country and the protesters who are demanding justice. Surveillance footage shows floyd being arrested. He does not appear to seriously resist. Loved ones called floyd a gentle giant. Reporter police say the incident started Late Wednesday morning, when the suspect stopped his car on the centennial bridge in leavenworth, got out and started firing at random, hitting several vehicles. This was an active shooter with multiple weapons on the bridge, firing at cars. Reporter Master Sergeant david royer was caught in traffic behind the suspects stopped car and on the phone with his fiance, when he says his military training kicked in. The man pulled up a rifle and started aiming towards eastbound, across the river, and began to shoot. Immediately told my fiance to call 911. Just took the only action possible i thought i could take and accelerated my truck as quickly as possible and struck the active shooter and pinned him underneath my truck.
