Good evening and its great to have you with us on a wednesday night. We begin with that urgent manhunt tonight for the hooded man on that awful tape standing next to the second american murdered by isis. The man with a knife with what sounds like a british accent executing a second american journalist, Steven Sotloff. He was just 31. Tonight youre about to see some new clues, unintended clues in some of their videos. Theres an intense focus in one syrian city. Seen right here in this video where its believed two more americans could be held. What president obama is saying as we show you those new clues. We lead off with abcs chief investigative correspondent brian ross. Reporter the urgent search for the remaining two u. S. And other western hostages is being carried out by spy planes and satellites over the isis strong hold of the syrian city of raqqah. This is where u. S. Officials believe isis staged its barbaric murders of journalists stephan sotloff and james foley. Today, the president vowed isis will pay the price. We will not be intimidated. Their horrific acts only unite us as a country and stiffen our resolve to take the fight against these terrorists. Reporter the isis commander Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi and his key deputies are prime targets for the u. S. And so is the hooded british speaker seen in the hostage videos. Im back, obama. Reporter and others from isis not seen but clearly part of the execution and video team. And those that make the mistake of harming americans will learn that we will not forget and that our reach is long and that justice will be served. Reporter in the search for clues, some of the recent gruesome isis videos offer unintended leads. Here the camera pans and briefly catches a glimpse of one of the isis camera operators. And then another isis fighter, driving the truck, part of the all important Propaganda Team that records and distributes the brutal videos. The act of communication that follows the act of violence is almost as important if not more important than the act of violence today. Reporter today the family of Steven Sotloff said they were privately grieving for their 31yearold journalist son. A friend speaking for the family said sotloff died as he lived, courageously. We will not allow our enemies to hold us hostage with the sole weapons they possess, fear. Reporter now the goal is to find some way to save the remaining american and western hostages. Special forces veterans say even with isis terrorists on alert after the first unsuccessful hostage rescue mission, a second attempt by American Special forces would be much more difficult, but david, they say not impossible. Brian ross starting us off tonight. Brian, thank you. Were going to turn now to another breaking headline, new details tonight about the newest american infected with the deadly ebola virus. Reporter tonight new video of a woman being escorted off a plane, the latest reclining seat fight that led to a flight diversion. It started last week when a denver man used those plastic gadgets to keep a seat from relining. Tonight he says hes ashamed and embarrassed. Those knee defenders are not illegal but theyre not allowed by the major carriers. James beach told the Associated Press he doesnt tell the passenger in front of him that hes using the defenders. Quote, id rather let them think the seat is broken rather than start a confrontation. After being asked to take them off, he did and says the woman in front of him slammed her seat back, a war of words, and then the woman threw a soda in his face. Quote, i said, i hope you brought your checkbook because you threw your sprite all over my 2,000 laptop. The flight was diverted to chicago, both passengers removed. Why so many incidents . Reporter the National Transportation safety board looked at two fatal side impact collisions in 2012 and found seatbelts add a measure of safety. This chilling animation shows a child wearing a seatbelt and one not wearing a seatbelt. So why arent seatbelts in every school bus . Could it be the cost . As much as 7,000 per bus, saving two lives per year. Is this what it really comes down to, its too expensive . Yes, there would be an added cost, but if all School Districts bought buses with belts, those costs would go down over time. Reporter the national highway Transportation Safety Administration Says seatbelts can hinder evacuations during electrical bus fires like this one, but in the event of a rollover or side impact, seatbelts could prevent this.
