He said that no fewer than 50 terrorist plots have been broken up thanks to this program and a similar one that tracks internet traffic. But the judge seemed to take issue with that. Saying, theres an utter lack of evidence that a terrorist attack has ever been prevented by this program. And in stark language, he said it is clearly unconstitutional and an invasion of privacy. Saying, quote, i cannot imagine a more indiscriminate and arbitrary invasion than this systematic and hightech collection and retention of personal data. On virtually every, single citizen. Reporter the ambush took place on the second floor of the parking garage sunday night. 30yearold dustin friedland, and his wife, jamie, both lawyers, their arms full of packages, were headed back to their car around 9 00 p. M. Friedland opened the passenger door for his wife and was heading to the drivers side when two men approached. Demanded keys and fired shots. One of them killing friedland, the other one ordered his wife out of the car. Then, took off in the range rover. An anonymous tip led police, to this boarded up house, where the victims stolen range rover was found abandoned. With the back window shattered and inside damaged. Friends and family of the victim coping with the unbearable news. Friedlands uncle releasing a statement to abc news. I want the punks responsible to pay. I want them to die. I want them to get what they gave. He was a tremendously loving, kind guy. Its really just a tragedy and senseless violence. Reporter police are still searching for the suspects, lara. Thank you so much, reena. Now, new safety concerns about antibacterial soap, used by so many of us. The fda is cracking down, now asking companies to clearly show that benefits of these soaps outweighs any health risk. And dr. Richard besser is here to tell us about it. This is big. For the first time, the fda is taking a move against the companies that make antibacterial soaps. And the reason for that is theres concern about safety, as well as whether they work. The Companies Say theyve been able to show they killed germs. The fda wants them to show now that they also keep us healthier. And the reason for that is there is concern that some of the chemicals in these products can promote resistant infection and act like hormones in our body. Do the opposite of what were hoping for. Do we use them . Or do we not . Ive never been a fan of antibacterial soap. Regular soap and water, you use it properly, it will keep you very safe. These soaps dont kill viruses. Thats what were really concerned about. I reached out to the companies. They say, were confused about this. Weve been presenting data to fda for years. And we think consumers should have them. At the new york regions three airports, there were nearly 600 reports of luggage theft in two years. And its not just new york. In minneapolis, this baggage handler is caught on tape stealing 84,000 worth of goods. Its not just airport workers doing the stealing. In phoenix, police were recently searching for these men, accused of plucking other peoples luggage right off the carousel. That, after a 2009 case where this man and his wife were charged with stealing hundreds of bags. What can you do to protect yourself . Reporter seven months after 25yearold brittany royal was found strangled and dumped in the waters off hawaiis big island, family and friends are wondering if the main suspect, her 23yearold boyfriend, bo johnson, might actually be a victim, not a killer. Were so in needing to find out mode that its blocking the grief process, which has been really difficult for us. Reporter brittany and bo recently told their families she was pregnant. They were living in this tent, while visiting ohio, while bo was looking into buying land on the islands famed lava fields and starting a tour business. He vanished at the time of the murder, leaving behind his i. D. Police have called him a suspect. But anonymous letters and flyers have turned up on the island, claiming that bo was targeted by the real killer. Because of his ambition to buy native land. Haole, a term for white man, had to be killed before he buy land, to send a message. Another note talks about both being murdered on the lava fields. And asks the killer to confess. There was a man who came to our house, when i lived with bo in hawaii. And he came and threatened our lives because we had trespassed on what he considered his property. Reporter but in a statement, police tell abc news, nothing has changed. Our investigation, thus far, has identified boaz johnson as the suspect. The case remains very active. If bo did pull off the murder, he would have to escape a Hawaiian Island with few resources and no i. D. If he didnt do it, a killer is still on the loose. You see it right there. He said it was innocent. School Officials Say it was Sexual Harassment. It was all caught on camera. You can reach your own judgment. Heres abcs john muller. Reporter take a look at this Surveillance Video. Watch as 17yearold sam mcnair comes up behind his teacher to give her a hug. Seemingly innocent enough. Not according to gwinett countys rules. The High School Senior is being suspended from Duluth High School until next december, which means he wont graduate on time. My heart dropped. My future is flashing by in my head. And im just like, oh, my god. This is happening. Reporter lets watch the hug again. According the a discipline report, the teacher alleged that mcnairs lips and cheeks touched the back of her neck. She explained what didnt match what i did. And im like, wow. This is crazy. Reporter mcnairs mother, april, was shocked to hear the news. Im like dumbfounded, really. Its crazy how the incident happened and brings such a harsh punishment on derailing a childs future. Reporter the gwinett county schools would not be interviewed. They did release a statement saying, hearing officers consider witness testimony. A review of the known facts and a students past disciplinary history when determining consequences. Mcnairs mother is appealing the decision. The teen does have a disciplinary record, which includes past suspension. But none were the result of Sexual Harassment. Overnight, reaction from parents and teammates. I can see if you suspend him for a week or two. But not a whole year. Sam is a hugger. Lets talk about this with abcs Legal Affairs anchor dan abrams. The headlines everywhere, were student suspended for hugging teacher. When you actually watch that video, and according to her, this was more than a hug. You see at the end there, it appears that he is trying to kiss her on the back of the neck. Why isnt this teacher entitled to a Sexual Harassmentfree zone . This is not like the 6yearold we read about, where he tried to kiss a classmate. This is a 17yearold senior here. Who, hes not just hugging, but appears to be trying to kiss. Kind of a blind side there. Yeah. And you see her at the end, sort of push him off. This is an unwanted touching. Imagine if this would happen in the workplace. So an infraction no doubt. But a years suspension . Its a tough sentence. They said he was in trouble before. Thats why he got the stiff sentence. I remember when i was in high school. I got in trouble. I got in trouble again. And a snowball i threw landed near a teacher and i got suspended. Dan . You did . I did. I did. Where is nancy grace when now, to this day, i would claim that i was not targeting the teacher with a snowball. I happened to be throwing it and it landed near the teacher. Nevertheless, my past behavioral problems got me suspended. To your point here, this is not about zero tolerance. This is a pattern of behavior. A year is a stiff sentence. And i would expect that as they appeal this, maybe the sentence gets reduced. But the notion this was an innocent young man who just was suspended for a little hug, i think is a bit misleading. Bianna golodryga has the story. Reporter these two women might look like they have a lot in common. Both mothers of three. Both now internet sensations after posting postbaby body photos that have gone viral. But their messages are completely different. 35yearold taryn is making waves for her series of postbaby body photos. She says after her third child, she became obsessed with getting back to her prepregnancy body. Working out to get this body, she considered plastic surgery. My body changed a lot after having three children. And i tried really hard getting back into the shape it was before the pregnancy. Reporter but now, shes showing off her current body. 20 pounds heavier with a rounder stomach. A postbaby body that women think is more realistic. You can love your body before and after. Reporter her photos are drawing comparisons to maria kang, the mom of three, whose whats your excuse photo caption, led to a firestorm of reactions, with many accusing her of fat shaming. Im not a bully. Reporter she is now speaking out against kang, saying these ideals are unrealistic and unhealthy. And wants to encourage women to love their bodies at any size. Health is not dictated by someones looks, their size or their weight. Reporter but kang says she is simply a healthy mom, trying to be a positive role model. Is there a right or wrong answer in this great mom debate . We have to be careful in our society not to characterize something as normal or not normal. Beautiful or not beautiful. Reporter its the hit reality tv series that chronicles the hardships of teenage pregnancy and motherhood. What . I think my water just broke. Reporter but this morning, an illinois mayor says he doesnt want the mtv show filmed in his town. I think it sends a wrong message. I dont have my head in the sand to realize it doesnt go on in this town. It does. Lets not add to the glorification process. Reporter according to more than one facebook fan page, one of the characters on 16 and pregnant, lives in tinley park, illinois. Where the mayor is discouraging local businesses from allowing camera crews in. Whats my five minutes on tv . How do i get on there . I get progress. Is that a good message to send out . Reporter neither the teen or mtv would confirm their roles in the show. But pictures and their bundle of joy are showing up on social media. Supporters of the series are disagreeing with the mayor, saying it does anything but glamorize pregnancy. I challenge someone to watch the shows and walk away from them and see anything in their lives that appear to be glamorous. I dont think we were in this situation, we wouldnt be this unhappy right now. If we didnt have a kid, we wouldnt be together. In our view, this is Sex Education for the 21st century. Reporter mtv has declined to comment. Its not clear how far the mayor is going to take this fight. But if he wins or loses, a lot of moms feel he has sparked an important conversation. And ann marie sweeted, i think its something that all teenagers should see. There are some things our children need to be taught. Another viewer tweets, being a teen mom myself before it was socalled cool, the show is disappointing, being that young and progress should not be rewarded with a tv show. Very divided. I feel if you watch the show, you see that it is horrible. It is a horrible life. Its very difficult. A dose of reality never hurt anybody. Theres that phrase, scared straight. You love who you love. And for people to feel that sort of permission. And then, it came back kept it in a desk drawer. And it came out again. You have to play stuff for other people. The first thought was, you cant do that. Ill just get you know. And the more i thought about it, just the music part of it, it made perfect sense. Even if i didnt know katy. For me, it had to be about it always has been about the song. If the song is great, youre in a bubble of authenticity, i think. And if the performance is great, she gives an incredible performance. Thats a pretty big moving target to be a couple and have a song. But theres an authenticity to it when you hear it. It transcends us. And its more about the message of the song. The blaze erupted shortly before 1 00 this morning. Its burning a large pile of appliances at the middle management plant at the end of seaport boulevard. Officials have not issued a shelter in place but they are advising people who smell smoke to stay indoors and keep their windows and doors shut. Like he said in one of the promos, he would have no idea he had to start so early. His morning starts about 11 00. Yeah. He would be late for the very first day. And unapologetic. Unapologetic. And probably smelling of scotch. Yes. And whats the problem . I smell a lot of scotch around a lot of the crew members. Yeah. Yeah . How no one wants to admit it. You immersed yourself in character. Not only in doing the movie. But promoting the movie for months and months. How has that been for you . You know, this movie presented itself with a unique opportunity. And i love kind of performing as ron burgundy. And so, when we had our first marketing meetings with the studio, i kind of put it out there that i would be up for doing a lot of stuff in character. And its great. It kind of tells the story of the movie in a different way, without having to just do the standard interview thing. And its its everything weve done has been unique in its own way. And people have loved it. Yeah. And we used exactly. The news itself, all the news outlets, give us a whole second wave of promotion because they show all the stuff. Im glad you mention that. Do you find a subtle irony or not so subtle irony in the fact that the news we love the movie. And yet, there are some notsosubtle jabs. A not yes. Not a subtle irony at all, that ron burgundy is celebrated by the media itself. And hes a horrible journalist. He would never be hired by anyone in real news. But i think in a way, all the news outlets like to know that theyre still being looked at and paid attention to. We all laughed so hard. But there were some moments where there was some cringing. Yeah. When ron discovers that car chases equal ratings. Yes. Yes. Yeah. I mean, that was kind of what was fun about doing this movie was to make a real funny, broad pg13 movie. And at the same time, have a little satirical edge to it. Let me set up the premise. So, you try you do reassemble the gang, the team, for a very big opportunity. And im going to show a clip right now where you all are back together. Yes. And you are reminiscing. Take a look. One other time you dared to chug that beer stein full of woolite. He did it so quickly that he said thats the equivalent of drinking poison. Oh, lord. I was in a sixmonth coma. They said from the neurological damage, theres no way i live past 55. You got three years left, my friend. How was that, being with the guys . Just reminiscing about yeah. Horrible stuff. It was great. I mean, we kind of picked up right where we left off nine years ago. And you know, im very good friends with steve and paul and david. And so, to kind of get the band back together, so to speak, was great. We had James Marsden on yesterday. Hes the new part of the team. Hes an ugly guy. Hard to look at. Yeah. And you definitely enjoyed poking fun at that. He was telling us about literally 20minute takes, that you and adam, adam mckay, the director, would just let it go. And thats one of the great things about shooting on digital is you can just go for literally 20 minutes. And its a great tool for improv and comedy and that sort of thing. We have an alternative cut of the movie, that will probably be on the dvd, with 300 brandnew jokes. Oh, my. And trying to keep it together, i imagine, would be no, its impossible. Thats the fun of you know its working well. Of that joy in performing translates on the screen. Your costar, another costar, baxter, the dog, has been with us all morning.
