Picture this, four air force officers who hold the launch keys to nuclear missiles, leaving open the glass doors that are supposed to prevent terrorists from entering the capsule. This while another slept inside, which is allowed only if the door is closed. Who discovered this . In one case, it was a maintenance team. In another case, it was someone delivering food. Reporter 911 shows how the boy terrorized the schoolyard outside of reno, nevada, just minutes before the morning bell rang. 912 1 emergency. Somebody brought a gun to school that shot a teacher. The teachers down . Yes. Reporter this morning, the memorial for mr. Michael landsberry, continues to grow. The vet who served twice in afghanistan, turned math teacher, killed as he tried to stop the shooting. I cannot express my enough appreciation for mr. Landsberry. He truly is a hero. Reporter two other boys, shot before the gunman killed himself, expected to survive. And now, police are looking into whether the boy shooters parents might be criminally responsible. Did they knowingly permit their child to have access to this weapon . If theres enough circumstantial evidence, then its entirely likely they could charge the parents criminal. Reporter was this young killer targeting specific people . Out here in the schoolyard . Police say they dont know. But students here tell me that they believe clearly he was outraged when he opened fire. We also still dont know his name. Were going to move on to a Mysterious Illness affecting thousands of pets. The fda is reporting that a sickness caused by jerky treats has killed nearly 600 dogs. And sickened more than 3600 dogs as well as some cats. The fda has not identified any brands, and theres no recall yet. Confusing situation, to say the least, for pet owners. Dr. Richard besser is here with this. This has been going on for quite some time. This is a really big mystery. It started in 2007. As you said, 580 dogs have died and some cats. 3,600 have been sickened. Its from chicken, duck and sweet potato jerky. Most of it, almost all of it, is from china. The food and Drug Administration are not just responsible for human food, theyre responsible for pet food. Theyve been testing for bacteria, for pesticides, for metals, for toxins. Theyve come up empty. Now, theyre asking all veterinarians across the country, be on the lookout for this. Contact them if they see any dogs who have an illness that could be this. What about symptoms . What youre going to see is their dog will be off their appetite. Their activity level is going to be down. They may have some vomiting. It can progress to kidney failure. To intestinal bleeding. Very severe illness. Many will recover, but many die. What is your advice to pet owners . These are treats. Theyre treats. They dont have to be part of the diet. Theres nothing you can see on the label because theyre not required to label what country they come from. If youre concerned about this, you dont have to give your pet a treat. He was so disruptive, to the crew, that the fire chief removed him from the actual patient care scene. Reporter emergency officials arrived after the youngest macneill, eda, discovered michele in the bathtub in april of 2007. I was concerned about my safety. I couldnt predict what was actions was going to be. Reporter macneill is accused of giving his wife a deadly dose of prescription pills, while recovering from a facelift, one prs say he insisted she have. His defense Attorney Says hes innocent, michele died of a heart problem. Police investigator dan becksford said, im was impossible to calm macneill down. He was blurting out, why did you have to have the surgery . Why are you on so many medications . Reporter the final witness, a Nurse Practitioner who worked with macneill. He said that the prominent physician asked to prescribe valium for michele. I was uncomfortable with the quantity. Reporter some witnesses have fuzzy memories of the scene six years ago. They probed witnesses about what michele was wearing. Some gave conflicting testimony. You testified that her hair was wet and her clothes were completely dry. Correct . Yes. Do whether or not it was wet or dry or Something Else . It was wet. All of the clothing was extremely wet. Et cetera. Why thats so important . Because prosecutors believe they can prove that hes the one that wanted her to have the surgery. He pushed her to have the surgery. So, this notion that hes screaming as if hes so sorry that she had to go through with this, prosecutors believe theyll be able to show that that was all part of the ruse. Not about the disruption. About that fight. And how might they defend against that . Hes going to say and the defense is going to say, when Something Like this happens, people say crazy things and do crazy things and act in crazy ways. But the problem is, this is one piece of the puzzle the prosecution is putting against him. They are going to piece together, not just with regard to the surgery, but the drugs. And you heard in the piece there, this is the beginning of the prosecution trying to establish that it was Martin Macneill who was pushing doctors to prescribe her drugs that they would not have ordinarily prescribed for this kind of procedure. And they have gone, instead, for a mixture of their closest friends and their closest aides. They have chosen a childhood friend. A mutual university friend. A friend of williams father and a friend of williams late mother. They have chosen their most trusted aide, jamie pinkerton, who was a page boy at the wedding. And the only royal on the list, is williams cousin zara phillips. A few breaks from location to the photographer. How are they going down . Well, exactly. Bigger, smaller . C is it consistent . Happening more than once over a period of time. And, d is it delivering . Is there an intention to harm. And in this case, i do not believe there was an intention to hurt or harm. We should point out, this coach put his thirdstring players in before halftime. They ran the clock kept it running, no timeouts for the entire second half. Its a good team. Its a highscoring team. If these two teams shouldnt be playing each other, thats fine. Short of that, theres just there is not i will say, theres nothing more disheartening to just get trounced like that. I disagree. If you lost and its really close, that hurt more than if you just get so much better. Really. I dont know. It hurts, period. I grew up being the underdog all my life, or felt that way. Im going to show you a week that we did for halloween specifically. So, these are superhealthy little jackolanterns. And we stuffed them with ratatouille. This is your zucchini, eggplant, peppers, garlic. And we combine it with parmesan and herbs. Its all vegetable and healthy. And you stuff it inside stir it up. Okay. And you stuff it inside the little peppers. Okay. You cook like this at home, for the little missus. I have to get the recipe. And its a healthy treat for the kids. You put them into a little tomato sauce and roast them. It looks like this. Thats a great makeahead meal. All of the instructions how to cool it and reheat it. This is meal one of all five. What did you bring on the set here . Look at this. Up next, we have bloody mary this is for the grownups. Bloody mary tomato soup. Celery, garlic, onions, vodka. Let the vodka cook off. Celery salt. Black pepper. Spicy v8 juice. Worcestershire. A little lemon. A little hot sauce. A little horse radish. Its got a big kick. And then, you pour in your fireroasted tomato. And a little bit of sauce. And then, you puree it. Look at this soup. Its so beautiful when its done. And you put thats the best part. The best part is, right before you serve it, you make Grilled Cheese croutons. And float the croutons in the soup. I used to have a lot of them. You make up a Grilled Cheese on pumper nickel with cheddar. And the grownups can have the bloody mary and Grilled Cheese. And all of these are cooked. We also have the penne. Im feeling no pain. We have the garlic beats and the goulash. You can make all of those in one day and go home and reheat them all. Very halloween. Its like a pizza. And all of the meals are healthy and balanced. If you make one meal, two meals or five meals, you have food at home you prepared and dinners already done.
