>> yeah, it wasn't good. >> reporter: green set out to finish his bus route, but with three kids left, including his daughter, he knew that the tornado was close, so he rushed them to cover in a church basement. >> you heard the roof flopping and the wind just whistling. >> i could see the tornado spinning right outside the window. >> reporter: after the tornado passed, the bust was gone. and from all of the rubble, one amazing story of survival, a home completely destroyed, four members of that family killed, but found in the field, alive, their 20-month-old baby, her name, baby angel. for family and friends the pain is still so raw. >> it's very hard to imagine that it happened to all of them. >> reporter: but baby angel is giving hope to so many in desperate need of it. when you have pockets of damage like this, you're going to have downed powers lines. and officials are telling everyone, please, take the extra care. even though they secured a lot of things, when you are getting back to your home for the survivors to be extra careful. because you never know what you're going to find in this. we'll have more coming up. but, get this, this area, henryville, including places in kentucky, now under a winter weather advisory. i'm going to be talking about that in just a couple minutes. back to you, bianna. >> the last thing they need there, ginger. all right, thank you. we're just learning how bad western kentucky was hit, the death toll there has risen to 20 and a state of emergency is in effect. the national guard has been called in as well. kentucky's governor said that the hardest-hit areas look like a bomb went off. abc's matt gutman is there with more in west liberty, kentucky. good morning, matt. >> reporter: good morning, bianna, from the heart of a devastated west liberty, as you mentioned martial law just starting to lift here and we are starting to get a look at scale of the devastation. this was the liberty city -- west liberty library, that was the city hall just built. the police department. officials telling us nearly every single building on main street will have to be condemned in a tornado that one resident said was a town killer. this morning -- new video, a woman trying to pray this funnel cloud away from west liberty, kentucky. >> take it up away from our home, take it away from this town. >> reporter: it was not to be. with the twister plowing right through main street. that twister just one of dozens in kentucky ripping through 19 counties, killing 20. 300 injured. some of the worst of the devastation here. survivors all describing it the same way. >> war zone. >> war zone. looked like we were bombed. >> about and mile and a half of town. >> reporter: this town's institutions wrecked. the police department, the library, city hall, buildings which stood for decades. rescues hacked through trees and power lines. mounds of debris. so much destruction, the state hasn't been able to compile the statistics or count the homeless. folks like robin williams and her granddaughters. we found them at the elementary school turned red cross shelter. >> we heard that it was coming. but it actually came quicker than we thought. >> reporter: the williams and the 100 plus expected to spend the night here are now called residents. >> i have a friend that i'm concerned about, i haven't heard from her or her daughter and nobody can tell me nothing. >> reporter: they could be here for weeks. and then, just moments later, she and her daughters spot one of the people they were looking for, neighbor donnie barker. >> he's the first one we have seen. >> reporter: an embrace and more tears of gratitude. >> we lost everything but we gained our family. >> reporter: bianna, west liberty has been a ghost town, most of the residents have been evacuated. today, they hope to start to be able to come back in and assess the damage. we talked to so many of them, they said, they don't need water, food or shelter right now, what they need is help removing all of this debris. it is everywhere. there are mounds of it that are two, three stories high. they need all of the help they can get. they are saying they just don't have the capacity to get rid of all of this. bianna? >> the governor said, it looks like a bomb went off in that town. all right, matt, thank you. and if you would like to can go to goodmorningamerica.com to find information about relief agencies. >> that does it for our tornado coverage this morning. time now for politics. it's your voice, your vote, t-minus two days until super tuesday. when a whole slew of states are going to be holding their primaries. mitt romney, the on-again, off-again front-runner is heading into the big day with a big head of steam. after winning the washington state caucuses overnight, with 38%. david kerley is in washington, d.c., this morning with the latest. david, good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning, dan. romney trounced rim santorum in washington state, who leads in some national polls. for romney this is the mighty most, the momentum going into the biggest day on the calendar for the campaign so far. >> get out and vote on tuesday! thank you so much. >> reporter: if it seems that the candidates are moving a little quicker it's because they have a lot of ground to cover and not a lot of time left until super tuesday. yes, super tuesday. when voters in ten states go to the polls. more delegates delivered in one night than in the entire campaign. what is a candidate to do in just two days? >> reporter: and santorum has a problem in ohio -- he didn't complete all of the paperwork and is at risk of being ineligible for more than a quarter of the delegates. romney's campaign pounced -- >> that basic organizational test that you're going to have to have to battle president obama is a test that rick santorum and his campaign have flunked. >> reporter: so, santorum, did you flunk? >> if that's the only thing they find is a problem with my candidacy, we are in pretty good shape. >> reporter: it is the battle ground state of ohio, where both romney and santorum finish this mad dash to super tuesday, bianna? >> just two days away. all right, thank you. let's bring in george stephanopoulos for more insight. can you explain the santorum delegate issue in ohio? how big of a blow is this for him? >> it's a pretty big blow. he didn't file enough slates in the state. no matter what, he's ineligible for 18 of the 71 delegates. which means that even if he wins, if romney is close, romney will likely get more delegates in the state of ohio. the other thing that is set up on super tuesday, bianna, the way this is set up, santorum is not on the ballot in virginia. if romney wins his home state, virginia and idaho and vermont, he will win the most delegates on tuesday, no matter what. he's already has twice as many as santorum. this will put him in a place where it's almost impossible for the others to catch up. >> you mentioned the others. you have newt gingrich on the show this morning, he said his big focus was going to be on super tuesday. if he doesn't do well, is this the end of his candidacy? >> well, he's got to win his home state of georgia, and right now, he is ahead. if he doesn't win, he has to get out. he'll have a hard time convincing republican voters going forward that he's anything but a regional candidate. he's only won in south carolina. last state contest he's done no better than third. so he has an uphill fight no matter what. >> talking about fight, the republican candidates are on the issue of iran, whether or not the president has a tough enough stance on the iran, the president will be meeting with israeli prime minister netanyahu tomorrow. will he budge with from all of the pressure? >> the president will be giving a major speech on it today as well. he gave a speech to jeff goldberg who's going to be a guest on "this week." where he said, listen, i don't bluff. israelis and the iranians know that i don't bluff. when we say iran can't get a num nuclear weapon, we mean what we say. he's gone a little bit further in threatening military action. yet what he is really going to be doing with prime minister t netanyahu is trying to convince the prime minister more time for the sanctions to work. >> a big question, you'll have a lot more answers on this "this week" this morning. george, thanks so much george goes one-on-one with newt gingrich and obama campaign senior adviser david axelrod. of course, be sure to watch george and diane sawyer throughout the night on super tuesday on abc. dan?
