Now the president ial candidates will focus on the last few weeks before election day on november 8th following their third and final debate. For the most part this debate stayed on the issues opening up with about the supreme court. But it did get heated the two sparred several times about the wikileaks email hacks and how to handle the crisis in syria. There was also a heated discussion about if donald trump would accept the peaceful transition of power if he loses. sot i will look at it at the time. Im not looking at anything now. Ill look at it at the time. sot i, for one, am appalled that somebody who is the nominee of one of our two major parties would take the head of the Republican National committee ensured that trump will accept the outcome of the election. The two candidates wont square off again but are expected to stay on the attack in the last days until election day. Donald trumps recent claims of a rigged election now have one corridor election official speaking out. Out. Right now linn county Auditor Joel Miller is testing Voting Machines which will count votes in less than three weeks. He tells cbs 2 news the machines are held to a High Standard to ensure security. Wants to see the machines first hand to pay a visit during their testing hours. We have more professional force administiring the elections now than weve ever had, and its an insult to them when people start thinking that the elections are rigged in linn county. Im offended by it. It. Polls across iowa open on election day at 7 am and stay open until 9 pm. But if you cant make it out early vo the president ial debate wasnt the only debate last night that will affect iowa voters. Longtime senator Chuck Grassley took on his challenger patty judge. Judge. Grassley is seeking his seventh term in the us senate. Judge served as Lieutenant Governor of iowa under former governor tom vilsack. A key topic of debate the supreme court. Judge attacked grassley for stonewalling president Obamas Supreme Court nominee. The latest polls show grassley today some corridor lawmakers and Business Owners are joining the fight to improve Water Quality in iowa. Iowa. Voters approved a threeeighths of a percent sales tax more than six years ago to restore wetlands and help farmers build projects to stop chemical runoff. But the Legislature Never passed the funding plan and the governor opposes raising the sales tax. Eco lips leaders in cedar rapids says they built their business on protecting the jane merten says supporting the sales tax is a no brainer especially since it would preserve wetlands which can minimize severe flooding. If we could prevent that in the future tht would save this city millions of dollars and eco lips equally it would help us save some money and time and energy trying to prevent that. This is where we live, so we gotta take care of where we live. Governor branstad says hes concerned about Water Quality too but hes convinced without raising the sales tax. Right now a new Iowa City Community School District webpae webpageis up and running showing new attendance zones and voluntary transfer changes. And the changes are complicated. First as the district works to accommodate more students with more schools district officials decided the best way to go was change which high school some elementary and junior highs would eventually lead to. That upset some older students who would already be in high school when happened. All becuase their family lives in a place now designated to a different high school. To solve the problem district leaders decided to change their transfer policy to allow some of those students to stay in the school they already know. 21 13 04 one of the things that the board decided was that given our new secondary School Configuration and the addition of liberty high school, that we have room at our secondary schools to allow people to transfer their students from one school to i was happy they put them out like they did. They were very open about them like they were. Im also glad that they seemed to have found one now and said, this is it. Members will be talking about the Student Survey cbs 2 news brought you as a special report last month. Semester telling district leaders what they experience in their school environment. Developing this morning in cedar rapids plans for a new water park are now moving forward. Crews will break ground for construction of cedar bayou next spring. The indoor portion will cover more than 60thousand square feet of space. Developers tell cbs 2 news the water park will not disrupt any of the events at hawkeye downs. Cedar bayou is expected to open in early 2018. For Hillary Clinton it was the revelations that have come out the past few weeks from hacked emails obtained by wikileaks. Last night she blamed russia for the hacks. Hillary Clinton, d president ial nominee the russian government has engaged in espionage against americans. They have hacked american websites, american accounts of private people, of institutions, then they have given that information to wikileaks for putting it on the internet. Internet. Trump responded to the several women who have accused him of Sexual Assault saying the stories are false and that they either want fame or Clintons Campaign was behind it. Trump also doubled down on an important topic immigration. He says he still plans to build a wall along the Mexican Border and wants to rid the country of the 10million Illegal Immigrants in the us right now. Go out. At the top of the list a requirment of airlines to give refund baggage fees if the bags are substantially delayed.
