Right now two italian towns are cleaning up this morning after two strong earthquakes hit just hours apart last night. One quake registered as a 5. 4, while the other was a 6. 1. There are no reports of serious injuries, but one man in a brought on by the earthquake. In august nearly 300 people were killed by quakes in central italy. And developing right now, a former teacher turned stripper now faces a felony charge of sexual exploitation. Cbs 2 News Reporter dora miller has the latest developments on the story. Reporter mary beth hagland will have to enter a plea again for a more serious felony shes now charged with, a process familiar to the former subs according to court documents, investigators found new evidence that directly impacts her charge. All of this comes after a change of venue motion was filed last week and after haglands appearance on the dr. Phil show. On the show she claimed the intimate details about their encounters. Haglin also appeared on two other National Shows, where she shared similar details. Details. Although class d is the lowest level felony charge, haglin could still face up to five years in prison if shes convicted. An arraignment is scheduled for next month. Bleum responded by saying it took six years to get authorized which is, quote, not exactly overnight. Several times the two sparred over blums voting record in washington. So i think its important that when you vote on something you dont come back to iowa and act like it was just ideas and just kind of like a workaround session. The votes that my opponent is referring to were budget votes, and the only part of a budget that is binding is the top line number. Right now both Major Party Candidates are targeting states where early voting like that is under way, and now donald trump is mirroring Hillary Clinton, planning a last minute stop to the city of five seasons. If the outcome of the election doesnt move in his favor, one man seems to joke trump should run against governor branstad next election. Radio host garrison keeler has been publishing pieces throughout the season, but his most recent talker piece claims that trump should become governor of iowa. Keeler outlines a list of cleaning the rivers, preventing Chinese Investment and deporting migrant workers. An iowa church now dropped a lawsuit on the transgender bathroom issue. The Fort Des Moines church of christ sued the city of des moines over the law, saying it violated their religious freedom rights. This Iowa Civil Rights Commission says its never churches and says that theyre usually exempt. The church then decided to drop that suit all together. Right now a social conservative group is pushing to change this election season. Cbs news statehouse reporter steffey lee explains the battle over the future of three state Supreme Court justices. Reporter designed like an election ballot, you may have seen these big black yard signs calling to remove justices were asking the voters to turn the ballot over and vote no on the three iowa Supreme Court justices. Reporter social conservative group the family leader was one of the main forces driving out three justices after the unanimous 2009 decision on samesex marriage in iowa. This year theyre urging eye juans to think eyeoans to think back to that ruling, as well as the courts 2015 decision to strike down the telemedicine abortion ban. These three justices are a not honor and respect the constitutional limits to their own power. Thats why they need to go. Reporter the Iowa State Bar Association says these justices have made every decision based on the law and by voting yes to retain them, it ensures that politics wont get into iowas courts. The department is workign with a des moines firm to help search for a new chief. The job is already search for his replacement and applications will be accepted until november 12th. Recent statistics show iowa students are doing better in science, but we still have a long way to go. The Des Moines Register reports Iowa Middle School students are making strides, but many still struggle. In iowa only 38 of middle School Students meet proficient levels, however, there is some good news. Statewide the achievement gap between black and white students, thats shrunk. The woman police say crashed into a Springville School bus is now dead. On monday afternoon witnesses tell cbs 2 news a bus was stopped to let a student off when 26yearold molly zalinkus drove into the back of the bus. She was rushed to the st. Lukes hospital, but she died the next day. A student was also treated for minor injuries and shes okay. Officials are still trying to figure out why zalinkas hit the bus. The visitation has been set up 4 00 at a dubuque funeral home. Check this video out. Its from a subway station in boston, and a train overheated and caught fire, so passengers, as you can see, they were forced to just frantically try and break out of that train through windows to try and escape the smoke. This is cell phone video from the scene, and it shows people trying to flee. Several were injured and at least three taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. A viewerwho asked to remain annoymous says they noticed it within the last year, but nothing was done about it. A des moines hospital has fired a Pharmacy Technician technicianwho they say watered down powerful pain medications of more than 730 hospital patie. Patients. Methodist Medical Center believes the employee who hasnt been named used a fentanyl and replace it with saline soultion which is just salt water. In a case like this where you have a situation that might have been intentional, an intentional misconduct, i think thats harder for patients and people to really u understand. Charges have not been filed but are expected. Right now the hospital is but are expected to come. Right now the hospital is offering free hiv hiv tests to hiv tests to precaution since that person did use a syringe to extract the drug. Senator Chuck Grassley has now called for a new hearing to look at a settlement between the government and epipen miker mylan. Lawmakers from both parties have criticized that settlement. The company warned they mislabeled their allergy shot for federal programs and that led to taxpayers and states getting overcharged. That hearing will be held at the end of november. An iowa city shelter is for the homeless to get in and out of the cold. And im very proud to be able to say as a member of this community that in the last two winters no one has died on our streets because of exposure. For the past two winters, in addition to this facility which houses 70 permanent beds, Shelter House has set up an emergency center. The first year it used the empty aldis store and then an office building. Executiv canninganeli says that more than 30 chronically Homeless People use the shelter most nights. She says both winters a Building Owner just stepped up when they heard what was at stake. Very quickly people came forward because they understand especially during the winter months that were talking about saving lives and this is a matter of life and death.
