Coming up on live at 5. Might learn better if their school day starts later older students may learn better if their school day starts later thats one idea behind a discussion in iowa city tonight. How you can voice your opinions. Plus a live look from where the final cedar lake plan is the tweaks made and turn join us tomorrow on cbs 2,the football teams arent the only ones getting ready for the big game this weekend. Weekend. A behind the scenes look at the game, and see who wins when justin and i have our own football scrimmage. Ths tomorrow on cbs 2 this morning. Lots of clou, maybe a little sun. Whats going on in the weather . R . I havennpaid attention totoy. To be honest, not a lot. Were in the lull here. Things arent moving too much around the midwest now so what you see is what youregoing to could be a lot worse, considering absolutely. Were at 33 degrees now, still have some clouds in our skies. Winds are out of the southwest at 7 miles per hour, Strong Enough to produce a wind chill in cedar rapids of 27 degrees and here are some of the clouds you can see moving across eastern iowa into Northern Illinois and embedded in the clouds, a few light snow flurries so this is a weak disturbance, fastmover, and once it goes on by, well see closer clearing in our skies after midnight tonight. But as we go to the radar here, you can see a few light snsn showers working their way across eastern iowa. The heaviest activity, which isnt overly heavy, is up here in the northeastern corner of the state especially north of cedar rapids and right on up towards decorah, light showers. A little dusting in spots northeastern iowa but those are fastmoving snow showers and, again, theyre out of here very early this evening. So our w wther headlines well have them in here during the evening hours and will come and go during the day tomorrow but overall, things look nice and dry, really right on through saturday, and we got a warmer weekend to look forward to. Nd will turn to the south and we should see our temperatures pop back into the mid30s in many areas by the time we get to sunday afternoon. Now, as we look at todays numbers, this is pretty interesting. Where theres plenty of snow on the ground from waterloo north northwest, temperatures a lot colder. The high in waterloo, just 27, and last night with fair skies and fresh snow cover cover in waterloo, look at temperature, 4. Otherwise in iowa city with very little in the way of snow on the ground, the temperature there at 15 degrees. That snow cover makes a big difference. Current temperatures again, showing the snow out to the north. Readings around 23 to 26 degrees. What you get out ofthe snow cover temperaturesop into and still l as warm as 36 in washington. So right now, overall flow is coming in off the pacific and kind of dropping to the southeast. That disturbance you see way out west will come up in to canada and drop southeast as a clipper so thats going to mean warmer temperatures out ahead of that on saturday and sunday but as the clper toes by, it will bring in some much colder air next week k and there is the chance of a little bit of light snow starting later sunday night and continuing into monday. Our models here indicate the potential is there for maybe an inch, perhaps 2 inchesesup there in northeastern iowa, so it will bring in some much colder air next week. Our predicxor tonight, then, does show some clouds around through midnight but they eak out as we get towards the morning hours. That will allow temperatures to cool off pretty good. But later tomorrow, the clouds return to the area as the south wind start blowing and thats what will bring warmer temperatures to us saturday and sunday. And your forecast tonight has Single Digits in the deep snow cover, north and west. Further south, temperatures remain in the mid or upupr teen, could be a couple of flurries early. Considerable cloudiness a cold day with temperatures ranging from the lowtomid 20s in the north to the lower 30s in the south, about 29 cedar rapids, 26 dubuque. 38 on sunday but then the temperatures crash pretty gooooby next tuesday and we also have that chance for a little bit of light snow around scattered basis sunday night into monday of next week. That is a pretty picture for the weekend. Thank you, terry. Y. Happpping right now, friends of cedar lake are unveiling their final master plan.
