The building where the shootings happened serves more than 30thousand people with Developmental Disabilities in the area. Just before 11 this morning, employees describe being shocked by gunfire. One employee told cbs news the shooting began in a Conference Room that was being rented for a banquet for county employees. That report has not been confirmed by officials investigating. As police and swat teams swarmed the area, loved ones of those inside also rushed to the scene to check and see whether they were safe. Its just crazy. Theres too many shootings. Too much bad stuff going on here. I mean, you hear about it but this is insane. Literally, they need to do something. Something. This is the seventh mass shooting in the us in the last five months. Cbs news was speaking with president obama on a seperate issue when this news broke. He said the pattern of Mass Shootings in the country is unlike any there are steps we have to take to change the climatelike stronger background checks. Yesterday the prosecution played the 911 call. Today they brought in witnesses to detail the night edward cusic is accused of murdering his mother one by one different witnesses took the stand. On the night of the murder officer Ryan Harrelson drove mr. Cusic down to the precinct. He said mr. Cusic seemed very tired. Prosecutors shared audio from that police ride with the courtroom. Audio recording she ran to me with a dagger in her hand. So i ran to the garage for a crow very tired, bobbing up and down and as you can see his speech was slow. Slow. On monday afternoon, police found bryon howard and heather beliue dead in their home. Officers suspected a man who had also been living there may have killed them. Last night, after a pursuit and an hourslong standoff in perry, they arested michael john wanchanic. He now faces two counts of murder. In baltimore, prosecutors presented a detailed timeline of freddie grays ride in a police van before his death. A jury was seated in the trial today. Baltimore Police OfficerWilliam Porter has pleaded not guilty to charges of manslaughter, Second Degree assault and reckless endangerment. I dont see anyone in the vehicle, but this is a Police Armored vehicle that is approaching the s. U. V. That they stopped. This is a live picture. Of what is happening now. Earlier today, about 2 00 eastern time, 28 people were shot, 14 of them killed, by what witnesses describe as three gunmen dressed in militarystyle gear with assault rifles. The target was apparently a Holiday Party at a California State Office building in San Bernadino. Now, these are live pictures. Drawn. The vehicle is surrounded. Witnesses said the gunmen, who attacked the building, got away in a darkcolored s. U. V. These are the Police Armored vehicles approaching that s. U. V. , which theyve stopped. Reporter well, scott, we just saw dozens of police cars racing at a high rate of speed with lights and sirens blaring. There were swat vehicles with armed Police Officers hanging off the side, traveling down the road. There are reports of gunfire, not far from here, and that there may be some activity surrounding that and that thats where all of those Police Officers are head there right now. So that may give you an idea of whats going who that vehicle you said had been stopped. Pelley carter, thank you. You know, it looked to me on that closer shot from the helicopter that the drivers windows were broken on that vehicle. Possibly shot out, possibly something else, but it appeared that the windows on the drivers side and the passengers side were broken. These are the swat teams with the Armored Vehicle approaching, as if someone was in the s. U. V. It also appears the rear window of the s. U. V. Is broken. This is a live picture from our helicopter. How many people are hospitalized, as far as you know, and what generally, if you can tell us what their conditions are . Are there any gravely am critical . Ive heard that they range from minor injuries, from that trying to escape, and they go up as high as gunshot wounds. So i dont know their status. Reporter why did the number go up three this hours . Were these three people found in the building hiding . Where did these three come from . I dont know. It was just an update the Fire Department provided us. This is a suspect in the mass shooting earlier today about four hours ago in which 31 people were killed or wounded, 14 of them killed, 17 wounded, many in Critical Condition. Police received information from witnesses that three gunmen escaped in a dark s. U. V. Then the next thing we knew was that there was gunfire at this location, apparently gunfire by the officers upon one suspect is down. We dont know what might have happened to the others. The officers are lined up behind their armored cars, obviously approaching this very carefully, which suggests there might be but we have not seen any movement inside the vehicle, best we can tell. But we do know police have reported at this moment 14 dead, some others in Critical Condition in the hospital. Is this the suspect or suspects . We dont know. The police have told us in the last few minutes that no officers are seriously injured in this. You can see a number of Police Officers surrounding the vehicle vehicle. The vehicle matches the rather broad description that was given. Police can not have a very good description of the gunman. One witness told us that the gunman there were three, she said, were dressed in black, carrying assault rifles, extra magazines, dus she could not see their faces and could not tell as we continue to watch this scene unfold live, lets go to jeff pegues in our washington newsroom. Jeff, what do you hear . Reporter well, scott, investigators have had a name to go on as they try to track down the people responsible for the shooting. There was one name, they have not revealed that name, but we know there is a name floating around Law Enforcement circles, and so that has helped as they have tried to track down the suspects.
