We caught up with them as they were finishing some of the projects after school. School. Its so eyeyepening and rewarding. A few weeks ago, 28 students, including maggie babcock, signed up for a crash course on social justice, they know the issues go on but t lot of people dont partake in the issues. But little did these classmates know the course would leave a huge impact on them. Them. It made me more aware of whats beyond mount vernon the crash course gave students the opoprtunity to learn how to build relationships and listen to those who are trying to make a difference in our community. We wted students to. Experience what they have never had before and things that will make them uncomfortable. Students served a meal at mission of hope, collected donations, and made lending libraries to place around the community. Community. Y. We really tried to make it interactive so that makes it unique. And open up conversations about how these as young people we need to open the conversation and talk to people about these issues. Issues. Relationship is key to social justice. Because once you know a person, than whatever stereotype you applied to the word homelessness or the word poverty or a partial race goes away and its a face of a person and thats what starts to change your mind. At the end of the 12 weeks, it gave these students a whole new perspective on life. You understand how grateful people are when you feed them a meal. Meal.
