Slater says rain as well as high humidity kept some people home this year and rain an showers, maybe thunderstorms rumbling through our area again a lot of us have avoided the rain. It has been raining pretty good for the last three hours. Rain perhaps more than two inches in some spots, well be welling the day started out pretty good. Had some sunshine early on, but the clouds started to roll in. The front stretched out throughout this area here. Showers and thunderstorms taking off in our northern counties. The rest of us are high and dry. Rain is expected if not tonight, during the day tomorrow. Some of the thunderstorms are putting out significant rains in northeast iowa. Stretch from southwestern wisconsin across our Northern Tier and back into the North Central sections of the state. As it stands now in our viewing area, the heavier rains are found in this area, right up in here. You can see east, pretty hefty cell, getting ready to cross the mississippi river. Another one has redeveloped out here. No Severe Weather has been reported, but the cells have the potential to produce over an inch of period of time. Since they are over the same general area, getting some of the storms to come through, you can find yourself to three to find inches of rain in one area. There could be some flash flooding. Other thunderstorms are taking shape in southwestern iowa, moving northeast along the boundary. All night long showers and thunderstorms will be found across much of our northern counties. Im going to take you to a of what is expected to happen. It shows at 11 00 tonight, not too much happening in northeastern iowa. That tells us the model may not be onto the trends like we like to see it. I believe it is catching additional energy. And you can see new cells beginning to forme our central counts were as another line comes across the area, 3 00 in the morning. By 5 00 in the morning, they are starting to weaken a little bit and push eventually around 7 00 am, the storms are gone and tomorrow morning, we should get into a dry period. Actually, a little sunshine out there. That will once again heat up the atmosphere and generate a new round of instability. Tomorrow afternoon. Up front, well come into that. Additional thunderstorms will be a possibility. More heavy rain will be a possibility, too, so im thinking tomorrows threat will be across the southeastern half of our viewing area. Thats the way its looking right now, as far as temperatures go, 73p 74 degrees. Up here where the rain is falling. 66 in charles city as we go to our satellite, a trough of low pressure forming to the west of us, pulling up the low level moisture and there is alot of moisture in the air. As this thing creeps across the midwest, it will squeeze that out in the form of thunderstorms produce locally heavy rains. Lears tomorrows temperatures, we should make it back into the low to mid80s around eastern iowa. What you are not going to like, the dupes in the mid70s, another day with muggy conditions and all of the moisture can be squeezed out in the storm. If you get a thunderstorm in that type of environment, heavy rains in a short period of time will be a possibility. Tonight, we are seeing the to the southeastern parts of the state. So, your forecast overnight, scattered showers and thunderstorms around, most numerous, in my opinion across the northwestern twothirds of our region. Lows to midto upper 60s, tomorrow, we should get a break from the storms early in the day, more expected with the front in here. Cooler in the northwest, warmer in the south. 84 in iowa city. Le 6 in washington and lots of extended forecast has thunderstorms moving out by thursday morning. Well clear our skies out. Friday looks like a pretty good day to start. Clouds are moving back in for saturday and showers and thunderstorms look to be a pretty good bet that day with a High Temperature of 78 degrees.
