Authorities say it happenededn saturday at an east side residence hall. No oer not related to one reported a week ago. With all the attention on tonights caucus vote, theres another election tomorrow in a number of area counties. But now, the threat of snow is altering polling schedules. Schedules. The state issued an emergency order to delay the opening of polls in a number of counties, including here in linn county. Instead of 7 am, polls will open at noon. But some counties, including black hawk county, say they will still open their polls at seven tomorrow. Area road crews are also gearing up for their first major Winter Weather in a few weeks. Weeks. We spoke with cedar rapids streets superintendent manager mike duffy who says crews have already been out putting down salt brine on major roads, bridges and intersections to help keep ice from sticking to the pavement. Crews will be out all night and once the snow starts to fall and they switch over to clearing those roads its important to give them space to work. We just ask that people give the operators plenty of room to do their job. And then just be aware that conditions can change very quickly, and so even if its raining that rain quickly become ice or even snow.
