Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool. Hey I'm back this is pinned on the roaring rover here with members of the songs the goal Country Community Music Project really playing live at the Shakespeare club next Friday at 7 pm in Placerville it's a great place on with the James visionary for the project but 1st we're going to be forming a band I want to play some that chord music we're going to play out a new cut called follow the dream by Fred and Sheryl pants. This is going to be some fresh music to you I'm very excited about. plan in the end I'm planning and I am going to keep so much lately and I I We're back a.f. Ok I'll be f.n. Georgetown Words to Divide. That last wonderful song was from Sheryl and Fred can't agree when it's a new song called following your dream we're here with members of the songs the goal country community using Project and with the James visionary for the project he's. Brought along some of the song songs singer songwriters for the project. So. James you're the busy area executive director for the songs of the Gulf Country project. Why did you launch this project and what's it all about yeah thanks Prince great to be here and I brought some musicians from the project I've got Fred and Cheryl can from a great way and send him across and and you know friend Cheryl's cut that you just heard for the 1st time over here following the dream here is one of 13 songs on this album that are from local singer songwriters talking about the history landscape people of the gold country I'm kind of a fresh set of eyes around here grew up in Southern California coming to this area a couple years ago really discovering the old country and then discovering this amazingly 5 rigs and friendly local music environment and I was so inspired and moved by the experiences I had playing music with these people and their kindness that I wanted to capture a cross-section of that vibe and that beautiful music and the songs of the old country is really a representation of that 5 in that the character of our community and the quality of the music that's played here and the quality of the people and so Fred I'm sure all songs as an example they can share with you kind of their inspiration for that song that you just heard you know we. Started With sure ols grandma great Sure all great grandma Carrie Mathison. And she turns to raising coming over. As a little girl on the ragged track and I love to hear his stories and for just started writing this song about so you know. Still in. The way rolling across the Perris and walking beside the this kind of like you know the banjo kind of sets Yeah roll on rhythm up in the song you're going over the mountains and the things that they might have. Encountered on the way I mean in those days as now they're schemes going on out there never worried about the scheme just the real thing do I trust what I'm doing and I really making the right decision knowing and then they get to California and come to the 49 er's and some do it some down and some unknown reason I'm chasing the alarm Murphy says we are a lost soul. Surely you want to talk a little bit about him Cheryl can you Hickory winds how you build the banter I you know years ago out yeah we're here at the kids you know now it's me if there's something there how they can remember it's been so long but I only played I'm only really coming up here to the people's not market to. Hear a lot of wineries and stuff but we started this band in about 2010 and have been playing. We have an e.p. That we did about 4 or 5 years ago and how they're working on a cd about 12 to 14 songs all originals all right he's very land I love original music here so there's so much rich music from this county to reach it it's just incredible Well yeah it's kind of an era of tribute bands I mean this kind of caught fire you know and we were not up here that's what's great I mean is that I hear a dialogue through the show just because I hear people say. Oh news you get your heart and soul out here. So you know I I can't say enough about it it's just that this is fine but listening. To your point pen I mean this is a big part of the inspiration for the songs of the gold country project is having lived in Southern California Central California and spent a lot of time in the Bay Area. I've never seen such a concentration of amazing singer songwriters and performers in one small place I mean per capita we've got more talented singer songwriters here I would maintain than just about anywhere in the country maybe other than Nashville Austin and l.a. But even then we're probably pretty close just on a per capita basis you know that you know there's a lot of that use there's a lot of new venue just the last year or 2 that's really area Auburn is not opportunities for people you know they know a money for local musicians but you know they get their strong followings So one of the things that we're doing with this project plan is that because it's under the theme of songs of the gold country we've got 13 different artists contributing songs we've got millions of folks that come through here tourists every year who are interested in the gold country and its history at the wineries and a lot of them are also on the way up to Taco So part of the the idea behind the songs of the old country project we want to give all those millions of tourists coming through town something when they stop in to Placerville or Georgetown for example at a local small merchant something they can buy off the counter pop in their their car and listen to as they're touring and it becomes kind of musical tapestry of their trip here then they go back to all places in California across the country and even around the world now they're taking these local artists and their music back around the world it's kind of an old school distribution model for a local artist to get global exposure then those folks start talking to their friends and family about this wonderful trip they had of the country he draws amazing songs and then they can go and discover more what else is this artist and that Sheryl can such a beautiful voice What else does she do so it's also an opportunity for our local artist to get discovered across the state the country in the in the world through the songs of the gold country project awesome so we've got another track this one less and it's not just because I think you see on your on your bias you think it's a trio you pulled me into this we do they sing in that mode so. Hirsch You know news to me part Ok And you're a player and I want to get a singer and so we have some really beautiful 3 partners. We can put out there also . Already And we got sued here talk about we have a song by Sandy coming up great is standing across and is one of the undiscovered super talented singer songwriters on the western slope and he's got some amazing songs he's going to play 3 of her original Sliwa here at the back half of the hour and but she has written a song for this album called. Gold dust in their eyes and so Sandy tell us about gold dust in their eyes and where the inspiration came for yourself. I as well have been bitten by that but in Northern California and I've lived here for 15 years I love this place you cannot turn off any given road and not find a trail with history a tree that has been here forever the sound of the river it's just insanely amazing So with that said just walking or driving past Marshall discovery. It reads history and I set it down took some terms and I was hoping that people would recognize and put it to words and saying it. It's what we did. And it was just lovely it's excellent there's too much here choose not to write down and sing about so many beautiful things and the Gold Rush obviously this great big part of why everyone came here. That's why I was here I came here for the goal that. You are to want to do it your feet right I enjoy only surprise it's a but it's a good story. So you want to listen to the track where you think it Kiera Sir thank you so I would send it across it and it's gold dust in there. This whole long run the mother to. Long and you bears again Tom. On a gala prayer to. God always keep a watchful eye. On the bell. There's a plan to grow. And stretch. To . Search for the bride. Gold and there I. Mean. We're back a folk a.o.p. F.m. Georgetown. The boys of the divide Oh yeah it's fun your Friday night. Didn't crazy you know that that minors come crosstrees affirmed bar now I don't think that alarm was for that. But anyway that was a beautiful song. Sandy you want to talk a little bit about the inspiration for we were talking a little bit anything else to say about that I am just very honored to be a part of this entire group of people it makes it very unusual because we're usually so ships that pass in the night we are working musicians we have families we have jobs very rarely do we get the time that we have had in the last 6 to 9 months to spend as much time together as we have I'm going to miss it when it's over but it's never going to end it's been a blast and that's why we write our sounds we get inspired by a child there. Was something so we kind of performance next week songs that a goal country a community based music project benefiting local musicians business or citizens and charities in the wonders coal country that's tonight next week next Friday night Friday night at 7 pm. So you know so you know this is the wrong road next week but that's Ok And catch this I don't care you got to bend passes are available online until May 25th so we everything's going to be at the door at this point well actually we're selling the tickets ahead of time and we're getting close to a sellout so anybody that's interested going the show is going to be a great show at the Shakespeare club it's going to be almost every song from the songs of the gold country album being performed alive for the 1st time as it is a group of songs so pretty special night to preview some of the music you're hearing here tonight you're going to hear almost all the songs off the album and if you want tickets the best thing to do is just e-mail us Gold Country songs at g. Mail dot com and we will get in touch with you to make arrangements to get your tickets are always carrying take it's like Shakespeare nobody not just kind of thing there are enough we have a list of as the whole fashion some guy is box office of the vice around and I get you could see international 20 volunteers are glad I did my surest help and that was mean I set up my share of tickets for sure Ok yeah I know I know guys like that too so anyway and those Led Zeppelin things I never got to see those things were bogus man I forgot about them as a story of Square Garden Ok wait so I do want time that somebody very interesting song titles you have you know we listen to following a train from a friend Sheryl can't have her song we've got traces left behind by you and Sherry hope you're right I am actually Patti a house concert I did on here with you who was backing up more and more that yeah he was an amazing talent agreat his wife Cherie is an amazing musician she's also an artist and she did the artwork will be featured on the cover of the album Ok so yeah you know just on that point that we have so many talented people not just in music but outside of music and what they do with their lives and generous people you know when I put this project together I was looking to do it all started. What I was looking for were people that were talented musicians but also very generous people generous with other musicians and generous in their lives outside of music that was important to me and I'm just so glad to be associated with all these people call them my friends because they're not only great musicians and fun to be with on stage but off stage they're just great to be around and we like to hang out at Sandy said and we're all really motivated about the fact this is a community based music project we're doing something that's from the community to benefit the community and that's what really drives us here all right so I want to talk but little bit about how the petition and the other participating singers songwriters absolutely what we've got a lineup. Of great artists human Shiri whole groups we've mentioned you just heard Fred and Sheryl can send him across and we have a great Bullock in Andrea Schindler. Danny Smithson Julia go bare out of Nevada just Nevada City Lucy demat a super talented singer songwriter performer from 00 k. James Woodward who we call g. On an on air here a few weeks ago Tammas he had a wonderful singer songwriter do you plug in the non-democratic last night Nice years ago she's written a song about poor Reds for the song and the love with someone not able that I technical assistance and I went away from there. Anyway why do you think you we also have brains and Bob Woods So they actually own and oh yeah I actually get a little confused about Bob Woods detainee James Woodward I'm glad Jay would. Say what he's like a punk rocker he Jay High from Woody I said to the big guy you know. That message you know he's I think Joey from more of you have to have a mohawk back and he's got some hair it's out there it's like it's like Arlo Guthrie is here I think you I think you he ran our own country here for 7. Years sometimes you recognize him it's just like Sam some of those locks I know don't cut it everything will sound flat Now if you like. All right so I heard you here thought if they could help. Somehow it's not on my pandora I don't know. Ok so we're going to listen to another song I'm going to talk about the summer bounty Yeah yeah so this is my song and it's called the in the gold country and you know I'm really proud of the song This is the 1st song that I've ever recorded and 1st song Little over publisher and. It's a song that really reflects me as a new set of eyes to this area and wandering about him being blown away by the beauty and majesty of the landscapes here and this song is really a tribute to this beautiful place and how awestruck I am every time I walk out along the American River on a sunny day a rainy day since you're going to hear firsthand account for what I want to know what country I mean what county you're from down there and l.a. That hell in a bucket flying by accident is that. We're Ok anyway it's going to have an intangible night in the community we talked about a little bit before. Seen Hansis in this music and hence is the value of our community and people that want to visit our community it's a source of community pride it's a snapshot we have so many wonderful musicians and in this region we couldn't possibly get them all in the 1st one so hopefully this is the 1st of many songs of the gold country that a lot of people in our local community and around the world to see the special vibe and the quality of music and community we have going on here called country that's what we're going for so this.
