And and the other thing was that I felt bad for the cast because every time another person getting in to do it like what's it like to be next to Sean Spicer is he is he Ok to you as a decent one or practices like and I felt like these guys there he experiences now having to every question has to be you know Is it Ok to be next to him and it's funny because without getting into it there's a lot of folks on the left that I think I don't support their policies how we put it that way and yet they never get pushback from the right Dana is not on a radio show saying how dare someone so gone to the stars as this show that for we on the right don't have that same cancell culture mentality you're not allowed to do that and yet these guys on the left that preach tolerance and inclusion talk about how you're never allowed to do anything again and how dare you and furthermore as a dance to show these guys like how does this happen how is he advancing and I'm like because people talk about the simple proposition maybe idea that they didn't get it really shed light to me on the fact that they really don't believe that there's another side right I mean they were literally opening like pondering this openly saying like how did this happen how is he possibly advancing because to them there is no alternative except to be you know far less progressive. Right yeah there's you there's no path in your mind to redemption there's no you committed the sin of disagreeing with and there's no an end because they have so conflated issues with people they can't see you separate from the work that you've done the advocacy that you've done or the politics that you support the policies you support they'd look at Sean Spicer Republican instead of Sean Spicer American you know someone who's on Dancing With The Stars also they they can't separate that and I just remember reading all of this and I thought by the way that you weathered that quite fantastically and I thought that the individuals that had been criticized. Just simply for speaking with you and supporting you publicly I thought that they weathered it quite well also I know that there was another gentleman who was on with you who apparently had like a close down comments on his Instagram he's not even you but because he liked you he had to close down comments on Instagram so go ahead but here's the thing and he didn't even already said yes so we're clear he said I look forward to having a conversation with him he seemed like a nice guy at the time you have even Ben that nice guy I had seen a white guy on your. Well you know he said was I look in the funny thing is that the individual in question is pretty hard on the left he wasn't you know I look forward to having like I didn't discuss policy he just said I look forward to sort of finding out more about this individual and it was it is so sad to see that just for wanting to engage and I've been I was the communication director and she strategist for the party for 6 years I'm like engaging with folks on the left I believe that when they were talking about the 2nd Amendment you're very passionate about whether we're talking about pro-life issues or regulatory issues that the way we grow our movement our party is by actually having discussions and saying that people here's why our policies are better for individuals families businesses federal and yet the less chance there is no shut down shut it down their shared of the conversation and I it just it worries me because I look at what Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren and some of these other people that are preaching socialism I think that is contrary to everything that this country is founded on and yet I don't go around I don't hear you going around saying why do you support them you must be banished from society like we want to be thought we want their ideas to not come to fruition but we don't cancel them out the way that the left does to the right it's amazing that is much is I don't I really truly honest to God worried about the policies that they're proposing I don't look at people who do that but we've got to get them off Twitter we've got to keep them off shows it's like you know we need to have a battle of ideas and become at the ballot box iron sharpens iron that's what I think that's what we believe having gone through now Dancing With The Stars and getting to cultural backlash you also of course during 2016 and working with the trump of ministration it was backlash of a of a of a different sort obviously from the left and then from certain I mean to be in all honesty I refer to them as crystal cons individuals who I think it's more about ego than about differences of principle within the right but having weathered a cultural backlash and a political somewhat straight political backlash which has been worse for you. Out of those 2 I know it's kind of it's because they're both different there are quite different the thing that amazed me about the fur I think the latter one the crystal Back question. I've always believed that the worst Republican is better than the best Democrat and it amazed me to your point about a lot of these so-called Republicans that have advocated for a conservative agenda forever and then somehow because they didn't like comes you know personality errors or is mind politics and you know we're not we're all bad people I don't think myself we're helping to pass some of the most conservative policies in decades if not multiple decades and I kind of that when I saw more of a betrayal I was like I felt like the family was going to get you I get the laugh I get the culture when I went out to Hollywood to do the show I knew where they were what I was when when you went to go do the Trump stuff and people on the right attacked you I think of myself really like I'd weathered the storm with a lot of moderate Republicans and said hey I got your back because you're going to vote for a Republican speaker you can help us make it a majority in the house or whatever as you know I want we need to give the government more than we need anything else and yet watching people on the right attack you I felt like the internal red on red was more disappointing than anything else at least the left was honest about it I have never understand some of these individuals that say that their supreme leader pro-life or their very low taxes and then suddenly they can't be for that because Trump is for it and because they oppose strong now they oppose all of these other all of these other policies and these principles that they've held for so long so now that you have been a communications director and press secretary and now Dancing With The Stars What what what is next for you. I so I have 2 consulting company or one of those strategic kind of corporate type committees and you know when we have a political forum that I'm a partner in the gates campaign that's the main focus and then there's a couple media projects that I've been approached on that you know it's kind of not Dancing With The Stars type stuff but it's more stuff that I actually want to sink my teeth into and talk about the issues that you and I have been talking about and promote issues that I think are important in this country and policies that are moving forward and if I find if they become the likes that I've got I've got some ideas of some additional I wrote a book last year I enjoyed it there's you know I'd like to do another one. So those are the kind of projects I hate to say but I love having a little bit of everything and not focusing on one. And you know the show I got to go back out to the finale next week and I'm starting to finally get noticed if after all the new package for 5 or 6 hours a week or a day rather and now kind of thinking to myself what else is next and that that answer is not fully formed yet Yeah yeah well I know is that it was I had not watched it with any regularity and so you were on the program because I thought you know I'm like a you know Republican guy represent my product was consultant on and you had and I have to say even if you did not even if you weren't technically perfect and I know that that's as the as the show goes on that judges more and more will look at technicality and they judge on that you had I think the fund that you had and the joy that you exuded far outweighed any lack of technical perfection that you may have demonstrated on that stage it was fun and I think it was kind of were you going out there saying look you can how fun it doesn't I know everyone's of stress with politics an Orangeman bad and all of this other stuff but that we forgot how to have fun. I think to some extent I mean I also want to in Eyes Wide Open Hey I'm not a good dancer I mean I don't think it takes more than 6 seconds for watching you know that that's what my approach to my approach to the show was I mean literally when we announced the show or g.m.a. They were asked if they Ok everyone just time make a move and I'm like I don't have all moved nevermind like moves and I'm watching the other guys and they're kind of the one next thing I'm going this is going to go well and so my approach was if you just go out have fun and embrace it you have nothing to lose because I had no expectation I'm not going to I thought every week was a blessing and it was an opportunity that I you know to do something completely fun and different and I had to have that attitude because if I took it seriously well then you know that I couldn't dance and so that we're going to last very long and I might always the only way to approach this is to say Go out have fun enjoy yourself and I didn't realize it would kind of catch on in the sense that I think there are a lot of people not just on the right but I think a lot of people who said identified with and said well I suck at clinics but you know he's going out there and having fun and I did it was great because I had nothing to lose once I made it past the 1st week I was living on borrowed time on everything.
