Hello welcome to the c r p 4 by 4 studios here at k f k 1310 I'm Kelly Lyle obviously not Brady hall filling in for Brady today who is taking some much deserved time off or at least he tells me it's deserved I haven't actually verified that but anyway thanks again for joining me and we're going to talk a lot of c.s.u. Sports Colorado State University Rams because that's what I know best in this segment and in this show today although we will have Chris Dempsey joining us later on from altitude to talk about the Nuggets and their summer league stuff he's going to come on some time in our 2nd hour about 11512025 somewhere in that range so if that's what you want to listen to most listen in then Otherwise let's talk some Colorado State football I kind of asked people to tweet me questions earlier you're free to text questions into our text line at 31196. Otherwise I'll just start talking a little bit about some of my thoughts about the Rams this year picked up another one of the preview magazines this morning taking a peek through Streeton Smith's college football preview seems to be pretty consistent with what outlines and all the others will steal all the others are saying nobody has a real high hopes for Colorado State football this year most people are thinking you know maybe an improvement of a game or 2 on last year but trying to get to 6 wins and back to a bowl game not a whole lot of people holding out hope for that I know Brady and I went over this last week and we kind of went through game by game on the schedule. I optimistically got to maybe 5 wins but that was given him to toss up games that I believe are kind of toss ups going in and maybe even a full of often upset including that opener against the University of Colorado. On the final game those 2 schools will ever play against each other in Denver most likely against each other maybe somewhere in the way distant future they will lower try to play in Denver again but at least for the short term this will be the end of their games in Denver they play in Fort Collins again next year in 2020 at campus stadium be the 1st time a sense I believe 1997 maybe maybe 95 that the Rams hosted the buffaloes on in Fort Collins but we'll see where that goes I just don't see a whole lot of reason for optimism with the Rams and I know it's tough everybody fans beginning of the season you know every season you always held out high hopes maybe there's some stuff going on behind the scenes that we don't know about. But it's hard to see any market signs of improvement from the Rams this season certainly they're going to have you know Coach Mike Bobo's full attention he doesn't have the health issues that took him away from fall camp for 10 critical critical days last fall that certainly didn't help their issues he was having to deal with treatment for a numbness in his feet limited his ability to get around on the practice field kept him out a team meetings at critical times and they had 6 new assistant coaches so it was a really really bad time for the head coach to have to be gone from his program certainly Mike bubbles health is better it's not 100 percent he says this is something that's pregnant it takes years to recover from and doctors aren't certain however totally regain all the feeling but he's way better off now even the spring we saw he was moving a lot better he was able to do a lot more on the practice field closer to where he's always been and I think that will make a difference I think they'll be a lot more of the accountability that everybody acknowledges was lacking last year and again. No head coach around 6 new assistant coaches you can kind of understand where the accountability probably suffered a little bit but we'll see where they go from you know from from there but I just I think it's going to be tough because they lost a lot of talent you don't have you know there is no Preston Williams coming back to maybe kind of savior often suppressed and was sort of the guy that when nothing was working right they could throw the ball up and he'd go get it last year maybe Warren Jackson becomes that guy maybe Nate Craig Myers the transfer from Auburn will be that good and they'll have that I don't know I think Warren Jackson will have a very good season but I don't know that he can do what Preston Oilers did last year having one of the best seasons ever by a c.s.u. Receiver eclipsed only by Michael gallop and were short Hagan's who are 2 guys playing in the n.f.l. Right now Preston to get his own shot in the n.f.l. He's with the Miami Dolphins and they seem to like what they saw from him in various many camps and o.t.s. So he's going to get a shot in training camp and a lot of people watching that closely that have observed what he's done with the dolphins are predicting he'll make the final roster will have to see pre-season training camp all that stuff so coming up at the end of this month than in dog. Will see if pressed annoyance becomes another one of these a former Rams to you know catch on and make it in the n.f.l. I think he's got a very good shot just from his physical tools question is whether he's kind of got the mental part of it down there that's where people have questioned him the most is energy effort some of those things blocking when he's not getting the ball things like that but I think we all saw people who watched him a Colorado state saw that improve even game to game to game last season so I think he's got the ability to be a decent n.f.l. Player for a long time if that's what he really wants to do the dolphins seem to be a good fit for him. And other things you know it's. It's hard to see the Rams lost a lot of a lot of players last year now sometimes that's good your $3.00 and $9.00 maybe you want to lose a lot of guys and start over at the same time you know they're going to be relying very very heavily this year on some sophomores some redshirt freshman they have had a couple pretty good recruiting classes by all the various indicators out there most everybody rank this incoming class this year is number 2 in the Mountain West I think a couple people might have them as number 3 in the Mountain West either way that's a that's good if you're only trailing a Boise State in recruiting and you're in the Mountain West now the thing is though can they get to where they're playing to where Boise State see only team that's better than them in the Mountain West and that's what we haven't seen yet. Well it'll be very interesting to see the Rams do have in some ways the schedule is not as tough this year with the non-conference because you instead of playing Florida your plan Toledo and you're playing them at home instead of going to Gainesville but they have to go to Arkansas to play a Razorback team that beat them last year that's going to be Arkansas team that's certainly going to want some revenge that was a loss that they're going to be talking about in Fayetteville for a long time they sort of saw that as the beginning of the end of their season when they couldn't beat Colorado State in Fort Collins especially with what the Rams went on to do as a $3.19 at the same time when the Rams get into conference play their schedules going to be a little bit tougher they've got a tougher draw from the 3 teams they face in the mountain west west division this year. This year their plan San Diego State u.n.l. The Fresno State as opposed to playing San Jose State why a Nevada anybody who's followed the mountain west since they went into these divisional splits realize that San Diego State and Fresno State are 2 significantly better teams than those other those other 3 u.n.l. V. Has struggled but there are some people that see signs that they're going to finally get things turned or. Around this year you will see I personally don't think they're going to be very good but I've been wrong many a time before. Again and I might be wrong on what I'm saying about the Rams this year I just don't see a ton of reason for optimism I will say talking to players and all one of the biggest changes that the Rams did have this year besides having a healthy coach around a little more or will at this time last year wasn't really the issue it became later in the year but another big changes they did change strength coaches in Davis left for Maryland certainly you know a chance for him to run a strength program for a Big 10 football program you certainly can't blame a guy for wanting to take on that challenge I'm sure it's more money it's more prestige it's probably better facilities etc. Nevertheless they promoted Joey garage show garage show I'm probably pronouncing his name wrong I'll have to ask Joey again to tell me the right way to make sure I say it but he took over he spent last season was his 1st year in the program and he was just sort of getting his feet wet as an assistant under Ryan Mike Bobo was very comfortable when he needed to make that decision to promoting Joey to the head job and players that I have talked to you talk to him during spring drills about what their winter workouts look like and informally have run into a few players around town sense since spring ball ended and you just kind of very casually chatting with them about it and they they all seem very very positive about the way Joey is running that program feel like guys are making significant gains and anybody who remembers that was a big point of emphasis with Mike Bobo after that Air Force game last year fight regular season finale they lose they finished $3.00 and $9.00 in the 1st thing he tells all of us reporters that were there at Falcon stadium that day outside the locker room is we need to get bigger. And tougher and faster and stronger I mean he just it was no bones about it he just felt that they were not where they need to be athletically they didn't have enough strength they didn't have enough speed and you address a lot of that through recruiting and by all accounts Colorado State had a pretty good recruiting class but you also address a lot of it by developing the players you've got in your program trying to improve their individual strength their individual speed various things like that I know it's funny people say you can't teach speed the truth is you actually can teach speed I am I was proof of that myself as a high school football player I ended up being the guy that was able to run a $4740.00 after spending a little time on the track team with the sprint coach there's no way that I could have done that without that I was probably a 49 guy so you can get a little bit faster by just improving some technique learning a little bit more about how to take your stride things like that. Those are the things the Rams need to have any chance to get back to a ballgame this year they don't just need these young guys that they've brought in in these last few recruiting classes to step up and play some significant roles they need the veterans the guys that are around and kind of understand the system to just be a little bit stronger a little bit faster a little bit smarter to do less thinking and trigger more on what they've learned what they know that's going to be the big most interesting thing to me and as a result of Mike Bobo's talking about that they did run spring practice much earlier this year he really wanted his players to get a true 8 week session in the weight room between the end of spring practice and the beginning of what is their summer vacation which they get after finals they get about 2 to 3 weeks off where they actually get all go home and have some rare free time before coming back June 1st to start summer school and get into. Their Summer conditioning programs it's going to be really interesting to see if that have the benefit the mike Bobo in the coaching staff was hoping it would have again the players I've just casually run into all believe it helped they like the way it's going they really like what Joey garage show brought into that offseason conditioning program but you know you won't know for sure until they play a real game and now that 1st game is and isn't until August 3030th excuse me it's another Friday night game of Labor Day weekend Aug 30th at. Well welcome back to the c.r.p. 4 by 4 studios here a cafe and the whole show with I'm Kelly Lyle from Fort Collins Colorado and filling in for Brady hold this today I guess he's got other people fell and the rest of the week to take some time off anyway we've been talking Colorado State football primarily because that's what I know best so if I've got to ramble on the radio for a little while I should probably stick to something I know better for you guys and certainly better for me otherwise there'd be a whole lot of Pazin And so we'll try to avoid talking about sports I don't know a lot about no curling news today sorry for you curling fans so anyway. Let's get back to talking about this Colorado State football team again this year and like I said nobody really has very high expectations for the Rams and you know it's tough I'm sure if you're a fan you really don't want people thinking your team is going to be lucky to get to 5 or 6 wins going into a season you like to think they're going to compete for a top 25 spot conference championship maybe a spot in a New Years 6 bowl game you know it wasn't all that long ago we were talking about those things with Colorado state going into the year but after a 3 and 9 debacle last year I just don't think that's in the cards for the Rams this year maybe they can get get some progress get some traction get 56 wins this year you know it'll be interesting to see if what it's going to take for Mike Bobo to keep his job I don't think if they get if they don't get to 6 wins I think it's going to be tough for the university to justify keeping him around another year whether that's right or wrong you can debate the pros and cons of that there's a lot of people that say you got it continuity is important that's what Joe Parker the athletic director cited when he you know signed the extension with Mike Bobo that also made it pretty difficult for the university to get rid of him right now because they owe him a lot of guaranteed money and then to Turner get rid of him turn around hire another coach and as many people have asked me you know Ok So say you fire Mike Bobo who are you going to get who are you going to get that's better there's a lot of that thought out there too right now with the growing disparity in college sports between the power 5 conferences and the group of 5 conferences the Colorado states of the world are going to have a tougher time finding good quality coaches I just and then keeping them when you find them it's going to be really hard to get them to actually stay and accept being and what is unfortunately becoming almost another subset of the n.c.a.a. Much like we already have the f.b.s. In f.c.s. In Division one I unfortunately see that. We're kind of going toward a you know power 5 group of 5 separation within the F.B.I.'s And then you'll still have your f.c.s. With Northern Colorado your Big Sky schools etc They're all still division one but there are some big differences in how they play football and the resources they have things like that you know you're talking t.v. Money alone the difference between a power 5 and a group of 5 right now is 20000000 a year or more per school there's just that's really hard and as that builds year after year after year it's really hard to see how a group of 5 school can try to keep up that pace Colorado states tried Boise States tried San Diego States tried Don't get me wrong there's plenty of them out there central Florida South Florida that are trying to play that game but it just gets harder and harder for these schools every year I think to do that so it'll be really interesting to see what happens with this Colorado State team this year but I think one of the most important things for the Rams is going to be the quarterback position I think you can say that about any college football team any year but especially with a mike Bobo off and you know the former Georgia quarterback George often so coordinator he by all accounts is one of the best often severe minds in college football right now and you know say what you will about his ability as a head coach there are some things certainly that he's learning on the fly in his 1st head coaching job but nobody disputes the office when you look at what the Rams have been able to do with the limited talent they've had under him it's kind of impressive some of the numbers they put up last year was a bit of a drop off again they had enough sense of line that was just just flat out her and us they've got to fix the office of line but if they get an office of line that's serviceable they've got some quarterbacks this year that can make some things happen you know Collin Hill is finally healthy again 2 a.c.l. Tears in his left knee. He remember beat out Nick Stevens as a true freshman to be the starting quarterback for the Rams a couple games into the season and really had Colorado State playing well he looked like this is the quarterback of the future this is a great guy you remember Nick Stevens went on to do some great things at Colorado State now actually got a shot in the Broncos training camp to make it in the n.f.l. Didn't quite pan out but was a very very good college quarterback and Collin Hill was better than him at least in the eyes of Colorado State's coaching staff back in 20163 years ago when he 1st came in as a true freshman Collins now been in the system even though he's been hurt as an physically been able to do all the things on the field he's been in the meeting rooms he's learned the playbook he's learned all the various calls one of the things Colorado State does I was you know I actually I guess Brady said he had Steve Fairchild on the other day I was talking to Steve Fairchild the other day and he said one of the things he really likes about what Mike Bobo trains his quarterbacks he teaches them a lot of the n.f.l. Concepts that most college coaches don't where they're at learning different protections they're learning to move the point as he puts it different things that allow the quarterback to try to get the office into the best possible circumstance against the defense those are tough tough things for a 1st year quarterback to do call and we saw it with Nick Stevens a difference when he got into it halfway through his junior year and then into his senior year he had that stuff down pat it was a much better off fence then it had been when he was still trying to sort some of that stuff out I think we're going to see that this year with Collin Hill I think Collin Hill's got that knowledge and to be honest right behind him you know he's still got to fight for his job with Nebraska transfer Patrick O'Brian there are plenty of people out there that still think Patrick O'Brien will be the Rams starting quarterback he had to sit out last year as a transfer spend a lot of time with the you know kind of learning things on the side did a little bit of scout team although they tried to keep. Him with the main often so I think more for that knowledge as much as possible we'll see where he goes I think that Collin Hill's going to beat him out there are other people that would disagree Collin was officially named the starter coming out of spring drills said he will be the starter going into fall camp but that doesn't mean he's going to be the starter going into that August 30th opener so we'll see where that goes but I think Collin Hill is going to be a real key to what the Rams are able to do this year assuming that he's got an office of wind that at least allows him to to make some plays to get drop back and make the passes he's got a terrific arm he's got good footwork we've seen it from a mechanical standpoint you know coaches a watch him will tell you he has got everything you need these n.f.l. Scouts that have watched him will say that they really like his mechanics now it's a matter of him being comfortable in the office he's running and I think now that he's really going to this will be his 4th year in that often it's I think we're going to see some interesting things he's going to be able to maybe make up for some of the other shortcomings that a Colorado State team that's got to replace 8 starters on off and is likely to run into again though we'll see he's got to have an office when we know he's got some good receivers Warren Jackson for those who don't remember he's the guy that is a true freshman cut 2 touchdown passes at Alabama over a couple cornerbacks that went on to play that are now playing in the n.f.l. Just beat him out on some $5050.00 balls and that was his true freshman year he's just gotten better and better kind of got lost in the shadows stuck in the shadow a little bit behind b.c. Johnson impressed and Williams the last 2 years last year 2 of the best receivers c.s. Hughes ever had so no shame in that I think he's going to have a real breakout year this year and then like Preston Williams before there's another grad there's another transfer from an s.e.c. School not a grad transfer an undergrad transfer. M n n in Nate Craig Myers who was at Auburn last year and you know will be really interested to see what he's able to bring to this softens and then they've had a good tight end for a couple years now in Cameron Butler they've had really good tight ends in general Cameron Butler Trey McBride You know they the list goes on that's a position that they're pretty strong at Peninsula Oh I really like what they bring their so I think the passing attack is going to have a chance to be pretty decent again if that's all they have they're going to struggle they've got to have some sort of running game will talk about that a little bit as we go into the next segment here but right now at least the quarterback bit is I think call and Hill is probably the best thing this Colorado State team has going for it this year so time to take another break here but thanks again for listening and when we come back we'll talk a little bit more about the rest of that Colorado state often it's. Welcome back to the c.r.p. 4 by 4 studios and the whole show here on k f k 1310 presented by p.t.c. Energy this is Kelly Lyle of the Fort Collins Colorado and I'm filling in today for Brady hole while he takes some much needed vacation time and we're talking Colorado State football again if if you have any questions you'd like me to answer or address as we talk Colorado State football you can text us at 31996 is the k f k text line or you certainly can and you know tweet me as well. At Kelly k l r o y y l l y e l l n will see otherwise I'm just going to kind of keep talking about what I think are some of the more important things about this Colorado State team and anybody just joining us part of what we talked about as earlier is that there are not not real high expectations for this Colorado State team this year I think I haven't seen anybody any of these early preseason predictions put them any higher than 4th in the Mountain Division of the Mountain West and most have them in that 5th spot ahead of only New Mexico which is. Not a good place to be because New Mexico's a program that's really struggling right now and I don't think Bob Davies are definitely going to be around next year it's tough to imagine he's still coaching them now given how bad they've been but obviously somebody sees something there and some hope for the future so maybe they'll turn things around this year too but it doesn't look likely again Colorado State coming off a 3 and 9 season after having gone to bowl games Mike Bobo's 1st 3 years this is going to be a big big test for the Rams this year maybe they can turn around maybe last year was the anomaly they're certainly trying to address a lot of leadership issues accountability issues that they feel were problems last year there were the 6 new assistant coaches the entire new defensive staff and then a new a line coach and and Mike Bobo was having health issues that limited his of availability to be part of that what was going on in critical time during fall camp and then even early in the season while he was undergoing treatment for some peripheral neuropathy which in plain terms means numbness in his feet primarily where he was having issues he's doing better he's recovering and he says it's a long term thing all probably years before you can really say whether or not he's fully recovered but he's doing a lot better he was a lot to get around on the practice field you know later in the season and all through spring drills he's been in on every meeting again back to where he at least . Closer to where he was and I don't think his physical issues are going to impact his coaching any this year the way that maybe they did a year ago so we'll see we talked in the last segment a little bit about the quarterback I think Collin Hill is going to be the guy that you know he's got to beat out Patrick O'Brian a transfer from Nebraska to keep that spot call and Hill though I think is really proven himself over time the 4th he's been in the system since 2016 when he won the . Starting job before suffering the 1st of 2 a.c.l. Tears in his left knee and I think he'll be you'll be a very solid quarterback for the Rams as here the question is how much you can expect a quarterback to do when his supporting cast may not be up to it and that's where we're going to kind of talk a little bit more one of the things that we've seen with Colorado state teams in recent years when they've had some good passing attacks really the teams that have been the best have also had a solid ground game you know 2 years ago Dalan Docklands was a 1000 yard rusher for the Rams you know you look under the Jim McElwain area you had Capri beds putting up the big numbers during that 10 win season in in McElwain last year 2014 the Rams need they need somebody to take they need some kind of ground game to take the pressure off the quarterback as we saw last year when everybody knows the only thing they can do is throw the ball they don't throw the ball very effectively because teams can just take up on the pass rush you cover the receivers a little tighter you you know you just force things and and day to day your ability in a standard off fence we're not talking a spread often so we're talking more of a standard off and your ability to complete a pass is probably at best case usually only about 60 percent even the best teams in football so you're right there are saying that you know 2 out every 3 plays one out every 3 plays it's probably going to be an incomplete or your quarterback is going to get sacked or something so you can't rely solely on the pass in today's game of college football unless you're a Washington state your plan their type of often so your plan some of these spread attacks Colorado State plays a pro-style off fence they have got to be able to establish the run before other things work we saw that last year when they never were really able to establish the run and they paid the price in not really being able to put up the kind of numbers overall often severely. That we had seen them put up in my post 1st 3 years that we had seen him put up even in Jim McElwain last 2 years very high powered off fences that had some balance this year you know running back is a is a big big question mark is the Matthews is gone he was the leading rusher last year he's a guy that's been one of their top 2 rushers for a number of years he was kind of playing behind Dale and share in the duties with Dale and Doc ins as both a sophomore and junior last year he kind of became the main guy and. This year they're going to be young there are a Marvin Kinsey is back but we don't really know his status he was not allowed he was suspended for the spring game and that right there tells me there's some issues that probably could carry end of the season maybe there's a suspension that's going to keep him out a game or 2 or 3 early in the year I don't know but I would not count on him being the every down back that the Rams need the guy that's got the inside track at that is Marcus McHale right he is the real deal I think anybody who watched the Rams probably really like what they see from this guy I mean Marcus McNeill raise a kid out of Mullen high school he's got good speed but he's also solid he is 511218 pounds. He's not as big as a guard Charles Johnson but when you see those dreads coming out of the helmet and see the way that guy runs he's kind of like a smaller faster version of Gartrell and he runs just as tough so I think he's going to be a guy that they're going to count heavily on this year to really take some pressure off that passing game and I think he's a guy that's capable of having 1000 yard season if he can get enough of wind that can give them some Seems they don't even have to give him he had holes they just have to give him some seams we saw 2 years ago Dale undocking is didn't have huge holes to run through but he found some nice seams and got some big yards ended up as a you know well over a 1000 yards I believe it was over 1300 I don't have it right in front of me right now but it was a he had a great season. But after that you know Marvin Kinsey's shown flashes of a guy that could be good but he's also shown real unreliability both with off field issues that have led to suspensions and when he's been on the field he's had some problems fumble in the football he's got some tremendous talent that you've also seen at times so maybe he'll be able to come in and be a solid kind of mix it up guy little different to McElroy is a little bit more of an outside guys a little bit more a little bit bigger taller I should say he's 61. 2006. Both have good speed I don't think that's a huge difference between the 2 but they're also going to be counting heavily on one of these 2 freshman running backs a signed and that's what I'm really curious to see is you know how those guys pan out because there's a couple of them that they signed in this recruiting class and might bubble pretty much set as much on signing day one of these guys if not both of them have to get right into our rotation we kind of need their help immediately one of them is Christian Horner kid out of fun Tana California who was actually the leading high school rusher in the country last season he was planted a smaller level school in California and. You know he looks like he's going to be pretty good he smaller he's 510192 pounds but he certainly you watch as highlights very impressive and then kind of the other extreme you know they also brought in Tyrese Jackson out of Louisiana he's a little bit bigger he's 511208 pounds and he's more of that guy that can probably run a little better tackle inside the tackles one of those 2 guys is going to have to really emerge and really because of Marvin Kinsey situation which I don't know the full details but the fact that he was suspended for the spring game leads me to believe he's probably going to be suspended for the opener if not a couple games beyond that they're going to have to develop one of those guys really quickly to kind of share the duties they were happy with a lot of the walk ons running backs that they had in the spring they felt decent about them but again I don't think you're going to make it a year solid running attack with a 1st year walk on guy they're going to have to get one of these 2 freshmen up to speed and then have Marcus McAlary stay healthy and really live up to I think what is pretty pretty impressive potential I really like what I've seen from the guy he's very solid but he's going to be doing it behind an office of line that that's very raw. That is probably the best way to put it I don't know how else to say it but you know if he's able to do that then maybe some good things will happen then the other thing that I'm a little curious about their lives and Adam premise therefore back they're going to use him some and I won back at tailback at least they did in the spring and they like some what Adam can do he's maybe not quite as fast but he's real tough and he's a he's a guy that does everything right he does what he's supposed to do on every play and there's some value in that in even if you don't have maybe the breakaway speed and some of the other stuff so we'll see where that that goes. Anyway for now I think it's just about time for another another station break here but we will be back in a few minutes and continue to talk about this Colorado State football team look at the office of wine and where they might go. Welcome back to the c.r.p. 4 by 4 studios This is Kelly Lyle of the Fort Collins Colorado and I'm filling in here on the whole show presented by a p.t.c. Energy for Brady whole Brady's on vacation this week but we're talking from Colorado State football because that's what I know best and if I'm going to talk on the radio here you probably want to listen to me talk about something I know rather than something I'm wingin So anyway let's look we talked a little bit about this Colorado State football team and again you know kind of the pros and cons there's not a lot of optimism going into the year among people on the outside at least about what this team can do certainly I guarantee you Mike Bobo and his staff they're saying we can win the conference championship we can win every game on our schedule if they're not saying that then they probably shouldn't be in the jobs they're in so I'm sure that that's what their expectation is or at least what they're saying. We talked you know Collin Hill quarterback running back it looks like Marcus McILROY is going to have to kind of be the guy unless one of these freshman is just like a freshman all-American Christian Horner Tyreese Jackson may. Maybe they will be but Marcus McAlary looks like a guy that is built for the job he looks like a guy that can handle $25.00 carries a game and be a 1000 yard rusher in the Mountain West multiple seasons I like what I saw from the guy last year the question is he can only do so much just like call and Hill can only do so much the office of line last year really let Colorado states often step down they just did not respond they did not make the blocks they had to make sometimes they were missing assignments other times Mike Bobo was the 1st to say that they were just out muscled they were in the right place block and the right guy and they just physically got manhandled they have got to get better this year this is line coach Dave Johnson 2nd year that should help some I don't know how much adjustment there was to changing from you know getting used to him and we'll see where that goes but by all accounts Dave Johnson everybody I've talked to says he is an excellent teacher that this old line should be significantly better this year but it's raw it's junk I mean I'm looking at the depth chart Colorado state put out at the end of spring and you know you've got 2 junior college transfers who redshirted last year t.j. Storm and Keith Williams You've got a couple a sophomore Barry Wesley who honestly they say is probably their best all Lyman is a kid out of Bear Creek who started as a walk on and became the best lineman on the off chance last year Barry I think has real solid and he's going to be counted on to lead the group you've got Scott Brooks a junior who really hasn't played a whole lot of football for the Rams Chaz Jackson a redshirt freshman this is going to be an interesting mix of how they work things out and and if you think those guys are inexperienced you look behind them and there are already a list and a guy who's a true freshman in Alex's Una's who was here graduated early from high school to be here for spring drills he. As already Number 2 on the depth chart coming out of spring drills that's a little bit scary if a true freshman on the old line is already one of the best guys you've got up there now again they left out people who were hurt so that makes a difference to. Them you know we're looking at that they didn't include Jeff Taylor is a guy that started for a couple years because Jeff Taylor was hurt and unable to play in the spring game missed was unable to participate fully in spring drills Jeff Taylor is a guy that will be on that starting off of line come August 30th when they play University of Colorado some way somehow I'm not quite sure how they'll pull it off where he'll fit in he's played guard he's played center I don't think they've tried him a tackle yet Barry Wesley is a guy that comply all 5 positions on the line and he's a guy that could fit in a lot of different places as well anyway we've got to one more shot another set of tickets for tonight's Rockies game that's 10 night not tomorrow night tonight the final game against the Houston Astros at corps field presented by Mosher funeral in cremations service these are excellent seats I'd use them myself if they'd let me but I don't think I'm allowed I think I'm in eligible but we will take the section to 36 which is Loesch level right behind home plate These are great seats better than I've probably ever sat in at a Colorado Rockies game to be honest. So we're going to take the 5th caller here again the numbers 970-353-1310 again that number to call 5th Caller 2 tickets to tonight's Rockies game 610 fireworks afterwards at corps field again the number 970-353-1310 great opportunity for some. Buddy to catch a great game I mean these are 2 great teams combined 10 all stars in this game tonight so what Check it out if you can I think it's it's a great opportunity again if I could could attend myself I would got to take another break here at the top of the hour but we will be back here and continue talking from Colorado State football thanks you're listening to the whole show on k f k.
