Or you can show exactly how good you are by taking that franchise and doing something with it easy he's got an old Oh and I started a run of a basketball not so exciting basketball as the Warriors are by the way absolutely something the Clippers in the division Yeah the 1st year I heard this is the 1st year since the Clippers moved to l.a. Which I think was that before the 984 season that the warriors who concluded all their trips to the Southland this year have swept both the the l.a. Teams they won all their meetings this year for 2 against Clippers and the Lakers it's already done Yeah we're not even halfway through the season right so that's weird and it's very very weird because it's got all the whole team which you would think well I guess nobody expected the Lakers to be any good this year which they're not I mean there are you know that they're not they're not on watchable team but they're they haven't shown a great deal of improvement so I guess they you usually think there'd be a way a Clipper game down the stretch but that's not considered an important game right now and you have to realize I mean. Especially like having a you know why would the N.B.A.'s one of the N.B.A.'s marquee teams even though it wasn't a regular season you know what it was nationally televised game why would the Warriors be playing a matinee Saturday matinee up against the n.f.l. Because the whole thing with staples trying to schedule games there when there's 3 teams occupying the place I mean that that a it lead to some weird schedule and just be glad the ducks are planned there to which might happen I'm enjoying because that building is not good the ducks building Well you know it to be fair it's not atrocious but since everybody's getting a new park now news stadium that's on definitely on the lower end of n.h.l. Arenas do you remember well this would've been a while ago but like before the ducks there was like an old Anaheim arena. The only time I can remember it isn't either the Clippers. Or the Lakers played there after the riot What year was that $91.00 or $92.00 Paul in there Rodney King that's a long time I was in that old woman that old I just remember to be like a weird old looking building I don't I don't remember that although I remember one of the teams play it and play their games in Anaheim the other would play their games and they got that during that time how long was that how long this move for just like for a weekend or how can they even a game in a candlestick they can take they cancel the games they postpone them for the l.a. Riots Yeah really if I remember correctly Yeah I usually remember everything correctly so I take everything you say is absolute fact when it comes memories I don't remember seeing like a maybe in the in the schedule or the results of the Chronicle which is that p.p.p. Violence. Or whatever in the. Dark that lets the weirdest reason a sporting event ever been canceled you think I know there's been a couple that have been canceled because of a swarm of bees bees I believe that yeah that sounds dangerous to me they were still at. The swamp on the field where it's rained out about 3 years ago where there was no rain goodly because they couldn't get the water off of that was very very very disappointed I think maybe a franchise that they were quite come back from that they really haven't have they that was here everybody I think that was that he got I think that was really the 2014th seed and everybody thought they were the best team in the way they struggled to just make a wild card game and lost that as it turned out yeah i remember there's a hockey team was cancelled it was delayed for like an hour bony broke down the ice I don't remember that one so it leaks everywhere oh yeah I could I could video and then you know we just. Had a whole bunch of water that's hot on the I just ruined that. That's one of the Sharks came in I went out. There's a sharkskin the rain down and I was sure like 2 or 3 years after the tank opened it was a good platform. Right by the tank and they had a cat they had a raid they got a cancer sting Yeah them in the rivers right there so I'm not I don't remember that at all. So I never tell him my dad was not a big Ocky bad it is kind of kind of like the Sharks game got rained out and I could see what his reaction was. I don't want to tell you like that because. I know I'm not on t.v. But don't try to put up at all. In the games gets no doubt Yeah but rain down with that going to soccer they when you consider that because they're like an all weather sport but when they have a horrible blizzard that cold and you know they cancel games but they're going to play that out sign for the most part right now and that makes that makes more sense yeah. Anyway I love how we start you a nice are all for shows in a wild tangent and it's my fault again it started with Gus is courtside in the Bron James is not going to the Clippers and his house in l.a. That he's played in him what a thread so there's actually a lot going on it sounds like a dog don't you know what there's a ton going on it's not dog by any means but we could be talking about all 4 of the major sports right now obviously in admits the regular season and the n.h.l. The n.b.a. Missed the playoffs in the n.f.l. We could be talking a little and we have time we might talk about the Hall of Fame announcer which I believe is going to be going to happen now about who's going to debate. Who are the actual skipped out table after next week. So so very interesting thing happened yesterday Gus contacts me by doing the show and I'm thinking like I don't know if I want to do the show because I didn't watch the national championship game and I totally would have watched it if I knew it was going to be on but I don't like Alabama or Georgia and I wasn't in the Be happy with no matter who won so I completely missed the. Why don't you Ike either of those teams either just because the geographical bad the fact there were no West Coast teams or 2 teams from the same conference or that there are huge corrupt against anything that to now what it was supposed to be about are something else it's a combination of all of those really. Mad you know from the standpoint of the Call it seems that we're in the playoffs this year what was it obviously Georgia and Alabama and then Oklahoma and claims in which is in South Carolina the mechanic irritated with all of those areas at the moment oh yeah I mean they're all pretty much backward states although I mean at least Alabama showed. Some forward thinking in their election last month and then. You know the fact is an s.c.c. Match up that's already happened as a playoff the did they eliminate other teams that already happened they did not play together in the regular season are you sure you know all that makes me feel stupid then interesting Ok I mean that makes it more legitimate nowhere near as sickening as you know I've had it where when I was Ok with it because obviously you know it's like I wanted a Western team especially a back well team. That they say could have. You know none of them could have them were good enough they were not met there is no way you could say that u.s.c. Or Stanford or anybody else within it one of the top 4 teams and not even close to that not that. I removed one like level of take off and that's about it I have s.c.c. Fatigue I don't I'm very very tired to see teams and I know that it's from a standpoint of fans that care the most about college football they win so I guess from that standpoint it's best for cause when they do you bet I'm just tired of it and I don't don't care at least get a new s.e.c. Team in there yeah but in case you're completely in Iraq Alabama wins again Nick Saban how many championships does that now form at Alabama at 5 in Alabama plus one that is I think tied that I think this I think was a 9 $136.00 they started giving out the a.p. Championship so I think it's tied Bear Bryant for the most overall how does Nick Saban attract people to Alabama at that rate I don't know like he is B.'s it's the best recruit recruiting class every single year. And I don't know how I don't understand the appeal of going to a place like Alabama over almost every other school out there. Like if you're a kid and you're really really good leader like All-Star on your way to the n.f.l. Type good and you got your pick of whatever school you want to go to how did Alabama get so appealing I was the deer appealing not because they win and if you want to if you want to win you go there it's a whole sports mentality now it's actually quite annoying words against that. But why go to Alabama when I go to southern California or Texas or a great I don't know I don't get it and I understand well I mean we know that there are things in terms of recruiting and I wasn't going to go there but beyond the pale I don't want to use Alabama of being in the mix so that I think I think a lot of the major institution to do things which are a bit underhanded there and I certainly wouldn't it put it past them there is a tradition I mean I don't want to tradition sucks I know you traveled it yeah I've never been to the deep south I would like to go to Alabama sometime I don't think that you know on the one hand I was thinking well you know where would be the ideal place to go and in some ways I like damper Ok they're actually academic standards are going to be too high for some people out there and despite the Smaug I would say u.s.c. If I were a football player and I had to pick one of your yeah I mean I'm a Californian I love California you would sort of California I'm officially have southern California now and I moved here I had. My automobile insurance from the AAA up to California State old California state ought to be also Station which also has I think like it's Nevada it's a Northern Cal about 40 and a bad and you got into the Automobile Club of Southern California so I'm officially a Southern Californian I don't know if that counts you're a central or coastal California there's too much California but I just I mean like . All those places I think the school that's what Rouse Ok I don't understand why Texas doesn't do better because whatever I do. It doesn't make sense to me and I think I'm very tempted to say it's money that these players are being funneled to and not necessarily Hey I mean why the hell does anybody want to go ga do Oklahoma and they repeatedly do so I assume that you know there's there's so much corruption in college sports and it's so widespread into the fact that we're not even talking about. You know sanctioned people coaches or even the university going on paying people there just be random fans of those places that are so great that they will you know pay people and it happens all the time yeah so that's a mess the answer probably 0 evidence of that so I got to say then the one question I want to come in here with that having not watched the now is I want to know is Nick Saban a really good coach or a really good recruiter Well I mean or is he but that is that is another option I mean I always think feel like as far as coaches go for pro sports or not just pro sports any any kind of sports football is one of the most coached append in sports out there and talent is obviously very very important but if you're a coach you've got more players on the field you run set plays all the time super important to have a very intelligent great manager out there. But he didn't work at all last time using the n f l. And I mean if he wasn't really what n.f.l. Team did he come played for the Miami Dolphins Ok so they played it's not as rare in the n.f.l. As it is in the n.b.a. When virtually no Larry Brown and I guess you'd have to say that Brad Stevens has done very well going from. For a bottle or 2 to the Celtics but I mean when you think of all of all the failures I mean over Mike Montgomery to Tarik to the Coach Cal to to Rick Pitino and all those great college coaches who haven't done anything in the in the n.b.a. Well there it's not as as I mean there Paul Brown being in historically the greatest one coach but Ohio State and the Cleveland Browns are multiple championships but I mean there are other Jimmie Johnson and there's been some other don't last Obviously there is a different kind of skill set there is so there are some people who could be very very good college coaches who just aren't quite as good in the end in the n.f.l. Could be a you know you can yell in college kids probably a lot morning young pros right and you start young the pros and they are finding out they have a lot more power than the college kids who have absolutely 0 power when it comes to athletics Well that's certainly the case in the n.b.a. I mean you know you I mean there is we saw 20 years ago with the with our Bustard bad b.j. Carlist IOW I always felt like the n.b.a. Coaches were more like babysitters than they were like coaches and he was really you can't come in there with a huge personality you just kind of have to balance everybody and keep egos in check and that's almost more important than anything else. But you're right he probably does have some good tactics then there was a rumor that started yesterday or today and this is why I'm kind of bringing this up is that Bruce Ariens who was most recently the coach of the Arizona Cardinals just retired said that Nick Saban's dream job is the New York Giants and the York Giants job is available and they have a go at it they have not filled it yet there's the it's not official by any means I don't know if you can make things official it's probably going to be they're interviewing the New England offensive coordinator Matt Patricia that appeared as a huge bearded guy I would play for him Ok I just based on the look I like his beard because you know back when I used to grow a beard back before he went out on the show while back where I went off about white beards which is what I would have now I grow back a pari I started white hair started playing in my bed when I grew a beard it was always just like that what I like. Yeah I don't I mean here's here's a question if you're the New York Giants did you would you be interested next Ayman . I. Yeah because they're distraught chill Prancercise No I think you know I think I'd be a poor choice in the n.f.l. Are they are they dysfunctional franchise Yeah really I think so they're good more years than They're not good yeah but they were just so terrible if you're you know it's not that there's got to be something. Something behind the scenes that's wrong I expected that to be the coach and he didn't even last the year that's and you can see exactly how he fumbled Eli Manning trying to phase him out of that that that looked like obviously that was the problem right now Ben McAdoo Yeah I mean he usually they're a lot calmer and on that side of New York and they got rid of him immediately so I don't know I don't I would be afraid to hire Nick Saban because I don't trust him to stick stick around if things go badly. But I also think that if you're Nick Saban right now you're basically a god in Alabama Yeah so I mean obviously he's Ok with living there so do your thing I mean rack up national champions ships Yeah I mean I you go yes you could say the same thing we said about what brought me what more they have to prove nothing much what it is for maybe to go to the n.f.l. And succeed there that would be that would be the reason to go right and there's no there's no way that you're your stock is going to be higher in the New York is a stable enough ownership situation that they can actually do something there but then you at some point I think I think you might try it again and then you'll find out I always figure in there's obviously I mentioned Coach I'm thinking more of a tactical from a tactical standpoint but he knows how to manage college kids that's for sure and he's one of the main reasons why I didn't watch the national championship game if you have a slightly. Higher but there's up to the because of it and you will about it just I generally root against they don't how many I don't know if there's a lot of coaches that actually root against. I don't like the guy and Notre Dame I don't like. Calley I think his name is I really get it I didn't like him it's that addy I don't like him Dow I'm com Do you have a reason for that just because he's won 3 Emmys annoying he's a hot head yet Nick Saban has a kind of I was fine with think Saban until he quit on the Dolphins and that's what really turned against all those college coaches who don't they sign a contract and they just leave right and they just take off and it's a high we've talked about before it was an a but truth betray know they be out they Bobby Petrino he guy it out I don't know where he is now he is nowhere now. I think he actually is he the guy who got in trouble yeah so I mean yeah he had you know. Some sexual issues at Arkansas right yeah it was a thing where he had like some student aid or something you know you know he just an all around prebuttal wreck to get her Internet he put her Governor some sinecure where he was make about like $30000.00 a year for doing nothing besides being a mistress he of course is a little bit different then save and he quit with like 2 or 3 weeks left in the season right. Which is never been before anyway that's you know that's an all had a hard time watching it almost if there are almost any other team other than s.c.c. Team against Alabama I would have a rooting interest and. I just can't root for those teams anymore. By the way speaking of when you mentioned Eli Manning your money is something I just wanted to throw out for our listeners it's kind of a cautionary thing right now I just kind of get it off my chest is a book that I just read that it just really really bug me and I specially after after reading a very good football but which I raved raved about on the air which is the Jeff Pearlman biography of Brett Farve I recently read a book by called the Mannings which is about pride it was more about Archie than the 2nd generation. But I mean it's has it's about the 3 of them as well as the brother the older brother the receiver who was injured in that you had to give football up by a fellow and the reason I did this book annoys me so much that I read another book by the writer named Lars Anderson who is a Sports Illustrated guy which I quite enjoyed as a book all Carlisle versus army about the Carlisle Indians which were were Indiana native americans with jets or bottom coached by Pop Warner sometime in the teens or twenty's I guess an Army team were present president before he was President Dwight David Eisenhower was on the team and I was not a great but a very informative book this book is really bothered me because. I mean you know I think it was just poor journalism in that it I mean the guy was a decent enough writer but this book was just written is a pot piece written with a bunch of crackers in mind the only people who really enjoy list book are people who are primarily Ole Miss fans but also any football f.c.c. Fans any fans of the South the pastoral scene of the gallant south because it. I don't know expected to be a sociological dissertation or anything like that but it kind of ignores exactly what was going on of this it be around the time when when Archie Manning was playing there in the early sixty's except for that he makes a reference to the so called Freedom Riders and I don't this is a book about football and it's in an all white institution you don't and they did go into a little bit about the 3 civil whites rights workers who were murdered in Philadelphia Mississippi and that it was you know obviously that doesn't it doesn't lessen I mean talked about in all its horror and everything like that but the thing that really really bugs me is and this is something I'd kind of forgotten about where the. It was the whole thing that the scandal that came out about when Peyton was at Tennessee and the sexual harassment to put it very very mildly the really disgusting sex to me the way it was to describe as to what this was a female trainer for the volunteers when when. When Peyton was there this horrible thing he did to her 80 allegedly did to her in the locker room I had it was described as a very disgusting thing which I'm not going to talk about right now but it was disk at least a Anderson described it in the book and she was given a very very favorable settlement of a $100000.00 from the university so you can't say it was definitely fabricated right now it's a kind of thing that if proven it would put somebody in jail for a long time and had what I would have them have to register as a sex offender probably as a felony sex offender for the rest of their lives and Anderson refers to it as a mere prank and I when I saw that I just wanted to it was a library book I probably would have just ripped it up and burned it so I did I have to get out of that so the Mannings by Lars Anderson be where you want to bring it up again in the in the show yeah we could do that Ok if it's not necessary it's a few years old so it's not really a cloud for this week but yeah it's got way Ok. I should also add in there I think I said You mentioned the great history of Alabama and I said is true in Alabama sucks I'm seeing specifically about the races history of the oh yeah Brian the program I don't understand when I ever stop this tangent Well no it's an interesting tension to go on and this is this would be like a great August tangent I mean it would be that's the problem there's other stuff to talk about Bear Bryant as such it is an individual who you know who I always assumed was a racist my brother in law who is black and is from Alabama has always hated him but on the other hand hand people like Reggie Jackson. I knew him for money play football Arizona State for Kush and met him because Bear Bryant and Frank Ocean were buddies and the lady Robinson who you know the coach Graham Lang and they all thought he was a great guy so I did it is an interesting to play history of Alabama and they were their whiteness for many years is an interesting debate but we got a step to talk about what direction would you like we're going to let go of God What other football is going on I don't think. The World Cup to actually do it or not if you're right this we're now in a World Cup here another World Cup authority are no n.f.l. Pro football but I love Beneful pro football still and I'm probably just as lucky that I had to work. At I did get to see the Jacksonville game. Stating that Jacksonville game was a disaster so you saw the you saw the afternoon game then the Carolina New Orleans I took a long lunch hours on the Ok all right that was that was a great game yeah that Jacksonville Buffalo game was about as bad as an n.f.l. Playoff game as I've ever seen and just those you look at those are just these guys aren't that good are they know I've. Made to me what I read about it didn't even seem necessary like a defensive struggle it just now that couldn't score now is just an attitude in fact the weather factor it all knew it was 58 degrees I believe and I mean obviously there's a huge cold snap on the East Coast that went all the way down south and but. You know if I think of the Jaguars at any other quarterback I kept on watching I was watching the game and thinking meant if Alex Smith was the quarterback of the Jaguars team they might be a Super Bowl contender for real well and that's that's Alex Smith That's not not a premier quarterback right Blake Bortles had about as bad of a game at quarterback without throwing interception as I've ever seen but even as I heard he did Ok on the ground does that count I mean you have a running back yeah the reason he did Ok on the ground is. This is the reason little Can the ground because he couldn't throw it had other options and he was missing guys from like 5 yards away which And I don't mean occasionally I mean almost all the time he was absolutely terrible and who knows I mean he ended up was 12 for 23 he threw for 87 yards he ran for 88. I mean apparently even the announcers could not put a positive spin on it all they couldn't it was it was it was a very bad performance an Aggie is going to unfortunately it's probably going to cost them a Superbowl because the defense is pretty dang good. And the Bills didn't have anything going either but there is that's kind of our defense to move the ball against but boy they could use a quarterback I mean I think we spent too much time in this game already I think yeah but I did see it coming out of this quad where you know about a robot he Richie Incognito being accused as a racist statement you buy it I don't solve that ends it's unsubstantiated at this point and the player accused him of didn't really walk it back but he said he didn't remember what he said but that Richie Incognito knew what he said I don't know what to make of that. Richie Incognito also a guy not a huge fan of but oh no it's hard to believe yeah. That was the most notable thing to come out of the game right. So Jacksonville gets to go to Pittsburgh Congratulations Yeah that's going to be a little tough to watch you watching the games on Saturday reworking. I listen to Imus the case the game I listen to the 1st the 1st half and it seemed like they were going to I was completely shocked when I found out that they came back a lot and I thought the 2nd half of the Rams game Ok yeah the. Boy a the chiefs in the 2nd half the distance his lead sometimes it's just teams that you would kind of hope that these guys are. And this is the playoffs this is what you've been going all season for I don't understand how you come out with that week of a performance the Rams looked so sluggish Yeah they were really disappointing and seem like a young team that you want to root for obviously the Rams don't have a lot of postseason success they won the one in St Louis but they'd never won while there in California well they won in the priest who were ball there I've had it there I don't doubt that weird things in history 2 teams in major sports have won a total of 3 championships all in 3 different cities and the Rams toward one in Cleveland one in l.a. And one in Phoenix but like we say only one of the only the last of the Super Bowl of the Braves one wanted Boston what a Milwaukee and one at Atlanta and I'm sure no wonder whether or not sitting those players against the 40 niners a week before. I didn't I mean that far mean like aware that the city have a team right that they didn't seem like a completely disorganized poorly coached team but I'm sure they I mean they were down but it seemed like they were were about to shift the momentum around and they just kind of fizzled and what I mean what I saw in what you described them as as a completely disorganized poorly coached team that is not what they've been all year right I think been and a high octane extremely disciplined you know attack attack team and they'd They just didn't have it. Absolutely laid an egg although I think we ought to start giving and lend a little more credit than then we are they beat some very good teams Yeah well you know my goal stick with them is that I haven't got behind him simply because their land sometimes until a team like you know turned everything around like beating the Astros did this year a team without a great tradition with no real winning history or any like I mean they yeah they made it to a couple of the roles but I mean generally they were put back to back to the together kind of throw that out of the window right now I mean they have obviously played well down the stretch and they are. I mean you cannot they're one of the contenders an out of go all the way with what I thought of before last week I heard certainly not at all a month ago probably depends on exactly how good the defense is because I didn't have them pegged very good. But if they play as well as they did last week they'll have a shot definitely a shot they get to go play Philadelphia which we should probably get to in an extended 2 minutes will be more fun to talk about those games right. But. L h i was actually I wanted to root for the Rams and I couldn't do it yeah I could I could I found it was on I just couldn't do it it's the same to me the Jared guy thing had me sort of rooting for them because now it's kind of like they did that I mean I was it part of the point I was of the Raiders I mean the local teams 1st and then I usually go for whatever teams have a local guy who guy played college years I dared gobby you know you got McCaffrey with that that would with Carolina I hear that you didn't do too much this year you know Aaron Rodgers he's not part of the picture right now but have gone with the only reason I could but it is it's hard for me to pull for the Rams much harder than it is over the Lakers or even the Dodgers it's weird that they're Elena's came back in 2 years and now they're in l.a. Team to me again I can't reform Yeah I could root for the Chargers because I still don't think they're in l a team now and it just didn't feel like it but that could never for the Rams. I sat down earlier game this week which I kind of skipped over you talked about that you listen to some of the radio where Kansas City kind of melted down really the only way to look at it. Because that Tennessee team is not very good right they're really not yeah and they're going to get to play New England next. Oh boy that's a disappointing matchup for divisional round you got to think but do you realize I mean it would it would include the monumental apps that we're talking about the geographical distribution of the. College final 4 while the only 4 to the only 4 teams in the tournament we could see 14 from the south playing for the. Super Bowl berth a week and a half and we still got to add. New Orleans to an all alive. Jackson I mean Tennessee has no chance though it's as the different option there but you're right yeah could be to be for southern teams in the final 4. Probably won't be though I don't see that we can really talk about the New Orleans game which we didn't which is what I was sort of going to get to and I was probably the most entertaining game. How much of the did you get to catch most of it most the 1st half was the 1st half it really got great in the 2nd half the thing is it the fact that Carolina made a comeback in the 2nd half to not surprise me at all because they were moving the ball they just couldn't they just couldn't get it across the into the end zone it at 1st I have I know they were they kicked 3 field goals but they really got to move it down the field well yeah you know I like that since defense because obviously the Utama Carolyn moving the ball they moved the ball until they got to you in foreign spots and then the Saints clammed up I think the Saints I mean I think we talked about this a couple months ago on the show if their defense can play this way that there are real Super Bowl contender they really aren't I mean Carolina is a good team they've been they've been playing great football recently too and they were I don't recall them being on the cusp of the class and they just kind of winning a bunch of games at the end. To get in there but it's I love this very interest you want to get to the matchups I kind of like is the matchups might as well Ok let me show you a sports milk Adata and great kid here I can't say say I'm tripping over myself talking trying to give these match up so the vision around we have on Saturday Atlanta the succeed against Philadelphia the one seed Lin is favored in this game I got to go with that I mean. So much of why Philly was great was due to 2 whence the now I mean bowls is just not that polls are pale they get a mixed up it's full of all there is a fails the guy's a back up somewhere yeah. He's just. He's just too much a what I call a watermelon water buffalo quarterback is one of these guys the stand hungry type of guys are just that he's not mobile and I don't I don't see him I don't know I really you know it's in Philly I don't think this game even to be close Atlanta just knowing what they're doing right now that we've disorganize it it's sad you know you see everybody say says that went is going to be. I just hope he comes back healthy and leave that team because it's such a great story but I mean here you can just bring up a guy a hall of famer like Dan Marino and he really only had one chance at the Super Bowl he never had another chance afterwards but at this point right now I just it's the way things over that wins knee injuries he was very very awkward yeah and you see when you see an a.c.l. Injury on the name which is the most severe type of injury which is what when suffered it always has something to do with the plant leg getting stuck but he was in the air yeah and a helmet hit the side of his knee and that's what did it I didn't I didn't know that was possible so that's I mean in all fairness I mean in Atlanta is they're playing too good to win I don't see how they could blow them out though just because the the Eagles are still pretty good and they're going to good defense they did they need to go right now they're often though is about as cold as possible and then that could be what does it and then the the last game of the season you know many points that scored against Dallas 3 right 03 they were shut out and realize that his guard 0 and then they then they Dischord 19 against Oakland which includes the touchdown at the end which doesn't count which doesn't count so they stick or how many touchdowns on oftens they've scored one touchdown in their last 2 games right now by by a blowout I mean they're headed Atlanta going to win by I don't mean it's going to be like. Like 35 but not the idea that Leno got a weapons course pointers Ok couple scores he had that they could do it by now they're right there at 3 I'd have to begin Lan I don't want to feel bad for Philadelphia in that way then the the evening game is going to be Tennessee at New England. Much I'd like to see something weird happen I can't now. I'm going to go to the Sharks game and I had someone from Mr You're all wise man I yeah I was going to go anyway but that's the one game I want to mess we can skate over that one Jacksonville is in Pittsburgh Jacksonville beat Pittsburgh earlier in the year and picked off been roughly burger 5 times know not going to happen again why not I mean after that performance the other day. You it be incredible to me that the team and I went at the beginning of the year I said we're going to win this award is going to stick with them. They're often says even if Blake Bortles can't hit guys 5 yards away they're in all kinds of trouble Yeah to all kinds to which is too bad because I remember just even going into the Niners game right it wasn't the Niners game like the Niners broke them yeah they really did where they were this is the game that going in there were Blake Bortles had thrown 7 touchdowns in 0 interceptions and 3 games and had a 54 in that game today and I know they placed a play opposition but they like something to fight they will take home field or something right they would have won the division Yeah and yeah they would have had an outside shot as a bye Ok but they completely imploded in that game and haven't recovered sense the only way they could possibly win that this game is that their deepest displays perfect they really would at the Buy perfect and get a lucky break or 2 and I just don't see that happening I think if they're more like and certainly more likely to win. Tennessee is over New England but I still think it's a long shot I gotta take that for do we know how healthy Antonio Brown is Manny chance I don't know. That would be the one issue they could have. And Tony. I don't know how he is the best receiver in the league but he can it is his knee at this point. Trying to look for news from the right here and I don't see anything till say Larry Fitzgerald I'm not sure who I don't I think you you can talk about like Julio Jones Yeah probably being the best although he's tapered off a little bit it's. Antonio Brown has consistently put up a whole bunch of touchdowns and a whole bunch of yards and led the league in receptions if you if that had Mean Streak to get a little bit mean streak you don't make it out of at that position but it does come in handy or with his size either he's 90 and guy but he still has it so he'll hope he'll be a big difference maker but I gotta agree with you Jackson is not playing well enough to beat anybody with talent and Pittsburgh has quite a bit of talent and the Sunday afternoon game which is I think by far the best match up of the playoffs so far New Orleans is going into Minnesota. And this is going to be a very very interesting game because Reid it's we're going to find out exactly which of these 2 teams might be a Super Bowl contender because they've both been hovering right around there you know you know they're good not quite sure how good they are Minnesota just repeatedly beat people all year long and you're looking at them with their they have Case Keenum at quarterback and you think in there's no way this guy can win games and they won 13 games here yeah and he played from in fantastic and their defense is absolutely lights out and they're just kind of firing on all cylinders number one points against even Were people to get some some points in there themselves and I like I like Minnesota a lot I like New Orleans a lot of New Orleans the fire and also a little cylinders as well. Yeah so which way would you want to go that Minnesota's actually favored by 5 by the biggest prize the whole game of their play so I think the fate solely because you go with a guy who's been there before and you know I got to go. You know I got to go with Ruby Brees overcame him so it but this could be good and I'm good now I'm going to say I was with my early season pick which was Dallas that he would make the playoffs and I preplan pick Carolina is gone I want to say no I was at the Super Bowl right now especially because it would only if they and Atlanta win the big game would be in the Big Easy but I mean this is this is a this just going to be a great game I mean I think I get the game I don't really care who wins and I like both teams and I just hope the barber I think the winner of this game goes to the Super Bowl and has a shot at winning it and who are you playing in reality in reality if I could I'd say it's a coin flip because I've been out I'll go with Minnesota at home Ok in this game in this game and then that'll give them a shot against New England in the Super Bowl Yeah now be my current pick you know the Pittsburgh has much the chance I do not think Pittsburgh has one which has I think they had their chance in the game early this year where they almost won but I didn't win because the n.f.l. Rules of what a catch is and that was their shot. And they had if they couldn't win then at home they're not winning on the road in that case of course they might but I wouldn't I wouldn't count on it so I'm and I'm going to hopefully go with Minnesota over new Lissie what New England has got such a cake game against soon to see it's going to be very hard to measure where they're at going into the the a.f.c. Championship game. Before we leave the n.f.l. Even though even though it was. Pretty much a done deal with it had been officially nothing about the night his show last week would have to mention the Raiders bringing back John Green and I mentored on the air last year but I want to can grade graduates you personally for I know you're out of your mind when you use that sometimes a little bit some time in November that you thought that there was a good chance the Raiders would sack Galleria this year you were so spot on it they just there when they back in art when they got rid of nor does it depend the cornet are they Ok that's why they did not get rid of Del Rio but they did although I figured they'd they done Norton because it was a desperation move at that point and you're wondering man why they make a desperation move at that point it's pretty clear is because they were pretty desperate there's more talent on that team than they were wins and that usually falls on the coach Yeah and I guess we just found that Mark Davis is willing to swallow money and throw money at people which is not like Al Davis at all yeah so but that is the deal really $100000000.00 John that's what I say which I don't ever recall. A coach making them much I don't think any coach is that a 10 year deal either and it's a weird one because if you people have fond memories of him obviously I what I was when I went to a lot of Raider games was when he coast up from I think it was 98 through 2001 and that was Ok with not just a winning team but a fun team and then of course the year after he beat the Raiders in the Super Bowl so he's kind of a god among Raider fans but. We're not talking to a loss here necessarily And we're talking somebody who did get out of the circuit for a while. When I got off the air last week and I would just bring it up with the names of the people had failed when they they made their comes at people x. Or my to be a dick for me a lot been brought up a lot and that Joe Gibbs was away for a while yeah he didn't really do that great on it when he came back no he didn't grade but he didn't bomb out I always think of George Siefert when I think of coaches that stepped away and then came back but he went and did he go to he went to Carolina he had the best winning percentage in f.l. History right and then went one in 15 with Panthers Yeah and completely wrecked it Tom Flores didn't do very well when he would have to. Although that was a weird an Art Shell come that was a weird there couple weird ones there also but Bud Grant did Ok when he came back to the vibe that was it because last tackle was so god awful but we're not a tad bit there I think I think Rudy is an n.f.l. Coach don't think he's $100000000.00 coach and they law I mean and that they really just threw money at him but the Raiders are making a push into Vegas and trying to establish themselves and that's one way to do it get your friends fans fired up by getting a new coach and see if you can turn around what 1010 year deal go lose the preview I mean Jimbo Fisher lefts. Florida State for 75000000 right and that was the highest I'd ever heard that that's almost that's 25 percent more already Yeah man what is the coaching market going to look like when really good coaches become available if that's m.-e. It obviously sports and money are weird because you have lots of really rich people who want to win and are going to throw money at things like they're building a $3000000000.00 stadium in l.a. That's ridiculous you don't need that but they're doing it because it's a horrible reflection on society I guess it is fortunately it's not taxpayer dollars that be even worse so I mean you get teams were like the Microsoft guy bought the Clippers for $2000000000.00 That's ridiculous there's no way that team is actually worth that much so you throw money people if you're a coach and you want to grab like Jim Harbaugh if Jungians worth 100000000 How much is Harbaugh our Earth lot more like like 200000000. Why go there at this point that I just ridiculous that that was ridiculous $20000000.00 a year and you know you Harbaugh is about to go to the n.f.l. And so he's really giving he want to get Michigan at least into the playoffs but not a national tour I think he's going to be Ohio State Yeah there might be at. Although he's got to find a quarterback which is a little surprising that he hasn't but that's a completely different tangent there by the way we never did mention that what do you think of Central Florida going undefeated and pretty up national championship t. Shirts I loved it I was cool yeah I just have to do we have to do guys so I was watching them and there's clearly we're not good enough to be in the playoffs from an objective standpoint but the reason that she went playoffs in the 1st place is to give teams that like that a chance which is you know why you would want to expand it to like 12 or 16 because they'd be in then and they'd have a shot and they certainly beat everybody they did as well as they could literally as well as they could and still doesn't matter in the. Lines of the college football people account so yeah print up those banners national champions a fake thing anyway this point right if you voted on is a voted on it's like like a popularity contest all right slightly better than it was before but I think we talked about before the show that such an you know weird in-between spot between the old college flow which was a complete you know no national championship game or playoffs just regular bowl games that meant something and now this half playoffs that ruins all the other bowl games pretty much yeah and that can sort of tie in with what we have to talk about and in 12 minutes right now generally since you're here we want to talk hockey but I do have a couple of college basketball notes of interest. What I have to mention is that I was really fun being back up live at Camp Casey in c. And seen good friends take a little hike in Hayward shoreline getting a haircut from the matter I was up in the in the in the South Bay last week but one thing that was a drag it was a beautiful drive back here to the central coast with fluffy white clouds as it says the Warriors have shifted from k n b r to the f.m. Station there is a long way where I could not get reception on the warrior games simply because when you're driving down 101 you get a lot of valleys stations in the valley stations are pretty much all associated with either the Lakers or the kids so they've got a war games on the radio but in flipping around around the time I got to about past roadways or past a Rolls as they call it here I got of all things a Colorado Arizona State game from. From Colorado with me but I think one of the 1st I thought I was going to be this is the Tucson state of those musta been from Denver somewhere a really lousy Colorado team was. Was down I mean the team that hasn't done much this year was down to a top 10 Arizona state get not surprisingly down about 12 to nothing or something like that and then I see like something on the trailer early later in the night I saw that Arizona State was well had 2 conference losses ago wait the only conference game they played before this was Arizona State and it was when they lost a few of a the last weekend which Gus and I talk about on the show turned out Colorado not only came back and beat a.s.u. They beat the USA It was also a top 10 team so watch out for Colorado but man the game a I have to talk about especially since I gave up on Stafford that night on Thursday when I got back here and went to bed early when I thought they were getting trounced by u.c.l.a. Only to see him come back to to win a double overtime Fortunately I did watch all of the u.s.c. Game I want to watch out because my sister Mary was brother in law Balmer there at Maples and even though Stanford looked outclassed in that they made a great comeback but just what an amazing amazing finish so many memories of. Nick Robinson back in I think it was 2004 but just a fantastic What a great game simply because the come back to Stanford made just to get back in the game. Before just the amazing sequence when. Jordan McLachlan did this amazing tie said he run down the court with just a couple of seconds left to give us seeded the 2 point lead and with 1.7 seconds left they John Davis ran down through the ball out and when it is one of the just one of those you kind of like that you're over sports elation and Stanford basketball is not. Done as much for me is it that it has during the Mike Montgomery era in recent years I was like really close to turning hand-springs what a great game. All right. So you want to jump to the n.h.l. Sure there's enough going on here and I'm trying to think how do we squeeze this into like 8 minutes I know the All-Star games are packed Brant Burns is in. For the sharks and that's it which is odd although I'm looking at these teams in there should be a lot more Vegas knights on on the Pacific there's a dorm at the same has been lights in there in the same it's light and that's actually kind of entertaining I really enjoyed it yeah I think that's all after I moved or 2 years ago with it although I'm kind of hoping that the players just boycott it and say what since we're not going lympics we're not doing this little thing in there is there any chance that there is talk of that while it's probably not going to happen. It was getting some traction a couple weeks ago and I don't think the players are going to go through with it. I think they get paid enough money to go to that but I would be an interesting statement far more interesting the actual games themselves Yeah but as far as from a standpoint I guess I will channel bill at the Sharks The Sharks have a dreadful road trip it was really bad and they're on there by a week now they're come back again in Saturday they're going to play Phoenix or excuse me Arizona because they're that stupid. I hate that change. But man they looked they did not look good and that did not look comfortable at all on the road and that it was kind of it not a great sign because the sharks have been a a very defensive team but when you start giving up lots of goals where they gave up the last game of the year they gave up 6 to Dallas in Dallas Dallas amazing at home terrible on the road. Played well against want here on Toronto the den they had the collapse in Ottawa where they completely fell apart and blew a 3 goal lead in the 3rd period give up 6 to Ottawa and then 4 against Winnipeg. And if they can't keep the puck out of their own net they're doomed because they're often civil they're just not good enough to go that far and at the moments they are 3rd in their division which is an automatic playoff berth but if they were in the other division in the West they would be one point out of last place which is amazing the east right now the Central Division every single teams over $500.00. And not the fake 500 that you get from the hockey standings where you get your overtime laws as they don't actually count where all 500 over they've all won more games than they've lost at the process every single one of them the only team that isn't over $500.00 technically is Chicago who is $2115.00 and $6.00 so that be $21.21 Surprisingly enough the Colorado Avalanche who were dreadful last year there are they're winning now they won 5 in a row they have $22.00 wins which is more than the sharks so the sharks right now are in a spot where they have to turn things around and then have to do in their division . Kind of not a great spot this team is a good team it's not a great team it's not good enough to make a run and they're going to have to make a decision at some point whether or not so I talk about this every single time the one new bit that's come up is their backup goalie Aaron Del who is statistically had a great season and when he gets in there he's actually quite the competitor and he's able to one of those goalies that can grab parks that are going in that you don't expect goalies to get kind of I don't want to call it dumb Akashic like but he's the best example of that of a goalie who just somehow makes a save that he shouldn't he has that kind of quality obviously not quite on the hotshot level but he's a guy that's going to be attractive to teams around the league and they might that want to think about trading him. Midseason because at the moments right where they're at They're not going to win with this team it's not happening and Aaron Del he's too good to be a backup goalie and he is his contract up at the end of the year someone's going to give him a bunch of money it's not going to be the sharks so he's gone you may as well try to get something for him get some young talent get some speed try to get the softens going maybe grab a couple guys he's got a lot of value that'll be the thing to work to look for in the next couple weeks I don't know if the Sharks will do that get it. There are they one trade partner that looks very. Really legit is the New York Islanders whose goaltending has been absolutely horrific they have a bunch of talented young forwards and that's who are fast and that's with the Sharks need badly they need talented young forwards who are fast they don't have them so that might be a possibility I'm not sure this deal get made because Doug Wilson and the Sharks have always placed a premium on backup goaltending which is important and it's certainly a move when you trade someone a talented as Aaron Del potentially that could Decker hurt but I want to quote Billy Beane here his ability in quote I love so many of the A's if you trade to make a trade it has to hurt them as much as it hurts you yeah or the other way around that's kind of the thing so there's an opportunity there to acquire somebody and that's something look forward to and that obviously could backfire Brett the moment they are a borderline playoff team and they're not going to they're not going to scare anybody I don't think her parents' job is to lie to I think Doug Wilson's jobs on the line Ok and I think that's where it goes and if you if you send out Doug Wilson the general manager then the dominoes fall from there I think each of those guys has another year though I don't think at the end this year they're going to be in trouble unless this current skid that they're on continues and they fall out of the playoffs and then we might have an issue that is not out of the question based on the way they played the last month they're finally scoring some goals but they're only scoring goals in the powerplay but they're always so giving up a whole bunch more goals and they're getting outscored even strength which you play even strength you know for 2 thirds to 90 percent of the game and you get outscored for that long you're going to lose games so they're there they're on the brink they could go either way at this point but a trade could revitalize them work a tank them but if they stand pat. You're going to get what is basically an 8 seed going up against a one seed which is fun from a shark standpoint but not going to be as fun this time and one of the all star game is going to be throwing Oh good question I don't actually know I think it is Pro Bowl week right by week it's really not going to be this week but yeah I think it is usually Now I hot the u.s. Team would've been so good this year they've been so good if I'm if I come in here again and next month I'll share that team and that team might have it might potentially be the most talented u.s. Team ever Wow More than 90 Pixie Well I don't know how to compare that because those were you know college guys going to against the Soviets but as far as since the pros have been in there I mean they would've been the best u.s. Team ever talent talent wise which of course on paper doesn't always matter in hockey but it is disappointing really a missed opportunity not surprising call the wake though well you know you had a weird one. I repeat I don't want to go with that one Ok let's go which I want to go with with e.s.p.n. We talked about multiple reasons for it should I should I bring up my weird one Well we've only got a minute or so. And that I think I'll find it is the problem because there is an agent who was fired in baseball for the end all be Agent Jason Wood was filming players in the shower. Ok that creep of the week that's a different what it's like is that we agree to me it was just the way even though they ended up being at it being a great tournaments it was it would be amazing you know the do the. Both the games that George it was in that the the George Oklahoma game of the national championship game being fantastic overtime games but just the way that e.s.p.n. Hyped the the semifinals and the final game to the detriment of the other Ok we don't care about the after but we want it all but I mean the really good match up in the other major bowl game that the Esta Bowl and the cotton ball and stuff like that I thought was that was just poor it was I thought was a very very weak act I started to be a game day on on. Featuring some of those are there was no game they were just are still already hyping the the national championship game and then everything I thought I was poor and they always tell them self's not to do something about that come on board All right take us out and I thought you had another reason for trash e.s.p.n. We're out of time I can give them another point I'm sure that situation will continue Ok for great kid and the out of Augusta league those go or is this Kevin adopt a for sports middle and broadcasting for up until college is that in a Camp Casey in a void 7 f.m. Los Altos Hills.
