They are all right scribe Lesko Kelly in Kansas City Kansas here on the Ark All right Kelly Hey Jay been following you since the eighty's that greatly love you thank you could you please address the fact that I believe in $93.00 President Clinton put in with an executive order what you could be charged with treason for and when and it was only during an active war these people know they can't be caught for treason because the president Clinton's executive order well executive order can change the law remember that that was a prosecutorial discretion mechanism that they utilize I remember that but what's happened here is the law is that if you leak classified information it is multiple crimes and as George said every time you leak it it is a it's so even within the one act if there's multiple leaks it's multiple felonies and you know the communication between individuals about it 1 May have had access to him and may not have access to it again I don't think you cannot expect the media to be the police here it's not their job it's not their job once that leak has been done their job is really to inform people of the info they have sometimes they they do hold back on if it affects our national security that's really up to them for the most part ultimately this is going to be the job of the partment of justice it is a nonstop day lose I mean time at least I think now it's like the pipe has been burst it's not Leaks The more it's literally flood the flood of information that should not be out there now to undermine not just the Trump administration that was part one it was to kind of stop the legislative agenda that's already kind of happening and now it's damaging our international relationships so it's going to pour there are even willing to leak information that will hurt our intelligence relationships that keep our citizens safe. Live from Northern California it's a lifeline with Craig Roberts he's the host of Northern California's longest running conservative talk show he's a man with a message conservative with compassion he's lifelines own Craig Roberts like a good didn't suit my of commercial he slices he dies and so much more and you don't have to wait up till midnight and watch those terrible overnight in from mercial stare of afternoon welcome on board great to have you with us and of course is the 25th of May And we're here on the Thursday edition of lifeline with much to do about nothing sadly with our 1st guest tonight there's so little to talk about but let's get to cases before we meet our guests in the news today of course as you're aware President Trump continues his overseas tour that is the trip continues today he essentially in the role of debt collector apparently the president in a meeting before some folks celebrating the new headquarters of NATO saying that NATO members quote massive amounts of money from years past speaking in Brussels the president claimed that fully 23 of 28 member nations are not meeting defense spending obligations the president then went on to joke about how he didn't even want to ask how much the new NATO headquarters cost of course this leg of the trick continues aspects that well quite frankly have been met with interesting reactions both abroad and here at home Joining me now in studio is the host of re-imagine America the broadcast heard on Saturdays at 12 noon with the repeat broadcast Sundays at 3 pm on our sister station 860 am the answer she is the founder and president of re-imagine America Joyce Cordy Joyce welcome and thank you for having me and much to. Talk about something that's just it's almost hard to know where to begin this is one of the days and say I wish I had some dice in studios that we can roll to do it dies and figure out where we start at the end the middle the beginning who's to say you know if if if anybody told us a year ago that this is where we were going to be we would we would have claimed that it was the product of a fertile imagination if but let me stop you on that point because you want to have a conversation on this very program a number of months ago we were talking I think was one of the 1st occasions together after the inauguration and you expressed at that point some early concerns as I recollect not necessarily specifically about Trump himself but about some of the people that he was surrounding himself with and most specifically you thought that the little bit of nepotism taking place with the daughter and the son in law that clothes at that level in the White House maybe wasn't the healthiest thing are you beginning to feel like profit in Syria now with in the light of the recent nose oh just calmly Cassandra. When the I got some magic bells she can ring I got I got that Trojan horse. Did. You know I don't dismiss women and and and I have to say that experience can't Ok it Jared cushion or I mean he looks like he doesn't shave yet. And and he is you know he's the senior of a real estate family in in New York he's not the genius behind the 1800000000 dollar enterprise he's obviously quite charming because he you know he got of Mancha to convert to Judaism and Orthodox Judaism is a tough road so he's got something but but to put him in charge of Middle East peace government innovation all this other stuff when you understand the entanglements his family has in a global business is full hearty and the learning curve is putting enormous learning curve is a is huge and the learning curve when you have no one around you who's really a skilled operator with the in the federal government makes you both naive and and over confident that we were told at the midpoint to the point of. Jeopardizing the Republic we were told early on Rest assured there are going to be key people in key places like for example White House chief of staff previous and the previous experience in the Beltway and the people that he knows and all of his connections this is going to help balance out some of the apparent shortcomings of lesser qualified individuals but Priebus is a political guy. He said but. If the White House to be the chief of staff of the most pop powerful man on earth require is that you know how to make the trains run on time there's a big difference between collecting donors money. And I've met Mr Priebus you know doesn't impress me as a guy I want to follow in a Vauxhall. But that's you know that's not a secret to many of my friends is part of the problem but you see the person I had contact with had hope what would be able to get this thing this ship of state righted when we were having this conversation earlier was my pants my pants is an experience litigator he's extremely well thought of within Republican legislative circuits circles and and within the Governor's Association he's a was an exemplary governor and he's a really moral and straight man you know he's the kind of thing that we can be proud of in the future patient might he wind up sitting behind the desk in the oval office excuse me be there I'm afraid of every day I'm more and more. I don't want to use the word afraid more and more persuaded persuaded that it would be that it will happen. You know but but the problem is the problem at the moment going back to fair and nepotism. And and you know the whole I lost my train of thought there excited joke in my head. But but the whole thing is that what we hear is that pants is out of the loop. As with the commie thing when he went up to the Hill and said Well you know because of the Hillary thing. And you could interpret that to be because he didn't recommend indicting her or you can say what it something else but but we find out now that Mike Pence is not in the loop when discussions are made so we are looking . At a very weak chief of staff. Somewhat manipulated by. An on again off again relationship with Steve Bannon and we all do know that you know I want to vanish Bannan ash they are and and and we have no doubt that the us the strength begins with McMasters thank God thank God for Gen McMaster is part of the issue here the major difference and I think you've already hinted at this the major difference between the capacity to campaign which to varying degrees Mr Trump demonstrated himself to be fairly adept at but that doesn't always necessarily smoothly translate into the capacity to govern. Yes campaigning is kind of a of a show. And we all know God knows how to put on a show. Ok governing governing is hard work. Governing does not mean oh I'm going to throw out an idea over here and let's run with this because everything that you do when you when you make a decision in one place has a cascading impact somewhere else. You know health care is a great example of that I mean what's wrong with Obamacare doesn't get fixed by taking a. Shotgun approach to repeal repeal and replace it is here's the Republicans approve of wishing it so doesn't make it so what you think I think it's political malpractise you it's government malpractise. To go out and repeat and campaign through 3 election cycles and we're going to repeal and replace we're going to give you something better Ok better to me means more at a better price or I'm going to make it cheaper and keep. The say it doesn't mean if this is a rating. A system which is already broken so when you read the c b o report back on the 24th of March that said if this goes forward by 2026 we're going to see 26000000 people that came into health care on the heels of the Affordable Care Act be ushered right back out of it because of premiums and price points that are out of reach. The example in the c.b. a Report today. That a single person 64 year old man making $27000.00 somebody working in a factory Ok. Or not working in a factory. Would have today pays about under Obamacare pays about $1700.00 for his health care because he's within 138 percent of the federal poverty line Ok under. The new proposal let's call it Ryan care for the purpose of this discussion. He would pay $13600.00 in other words it and of completely on affordable and you know what you need that's both cynical and cruel. Let's pause on that point and if you've just joined the conversation Joyce Cordy is with us today Joyce is the founder and president of re-imagine America her broadcast by the way can be heard Saturdays at noon with the repeats broadcast Sundays at 3 pm on our sister station $860.00 am the answer we are talking about the 1st $100.00 days we're talking about the president's current trip overseas we're talking about much of the controversy that is swirling back in Washington d.c. And now back to life line with Craig Roberts back to the conversation in studio with us tonight is the founder and president of reimagine America Joyce Cordy her compelling broadcast reimagine America heard Saturdays at 12 noon Sundays at 3 pm on our sister station 860 am the answer we invite you to check it out also check out her website lots of great inside available there and reimagine America dot all argee that's reimagine America a large It was said by Hoover when he was running as a candidate for the office of the presidency that he promised a car and a car in every garage and a chicken in every pot and that's a great campaign slogan or at least it was back in the 1920 s. The challenge of course is that once people deliver the office to you they expect you to deliver the promises to them. If you fail at that it's going to be problematic because they're going to hold your feet to the fire and they're going to remember that they voted for you because you promised a car in every garage and a chicken in every pot. The challenge Joyce Cordy with Donald Trump is the showman knows how to get attention knows how to get votes knowing how to deliver inside the mechanism of the beltway called the federal government proving to be not so adept at that well it comes from I'm going to make a small correction that was Coolidge Coolidge I take that I have over at right angles Coolidge and you're so right Craig because you know I think frequently about the fact that there are comparisons of the 2 most scandal ridden. Administrations before the trumpet ministration were Grant. And Coolidge Teapot Dome. I'm feeling Teapot Dome again you know we're up all these billionaires who decided they wanted to get in on you know taking government assets at prices they you know that they were not entitled to but the the issue with Trump is that Trump is and. He has never been a we. We the People Ok is a huge it's a mechanism it's a it's a beautifully designed clock in which everything balances that's why we have 3 branches. Mr Trump made however many $1000000000.00 He has Ok based on. I against everybody else and he brought that why did we think why did anyone think that he wouldn't bring that same attitude into the White House so when he blew that Israeli secret agent whose background had taken years to develop I mean that's just a huge huge effort to get somebody that well placed in ISIS. He wasn't trying to be malicious he was bragging about the wonderful intelligence organization he now sits atop. Gen McMaster it's. Texting madly to pump a 0 together whether the before the Israelis found out in the protests. And in so why anyone expected anything different I mean on the campaign trail. We saw a man who didn't understand the new ones who didn't understand the limits of. The personal power of the presidency as an institution because he belittled it continuously He did that before he became a candidate so I feel I'm not surprised. I'm horrified every day but I'm not surprised at his bombast I am very surprised to what we were talking about with with the American Health Care Act I'm very surprised that the policy wonk Paul Ryan didn't really have. A well thought out well structured wood work. Idea plan proposal for replace repeal and replace and then it really just a stupid slogan you know and then to come back and say well we've only been in government governing mode for 4 months and I'm on the story that clearly not wash that just doesn't want wash or or the idea that everything is going to get done by budget reconciliation because to quote Mitch McConnell the differences between the Republicans and the Democrats right now are too wide to to bridge I'm Sori that's what you were elected to do that is indeed what Congress is supposed to do and then clearly to your point regarding the Health Care Act to say that they've only been in office for 4 months and therefore haven't had the opportunity to craft a viable measure here they have been criticizing him talking about the shortcomings and failures and believe me they are legion within the Affordable Health Care Act for 5 years now you would think over the course of the last 5 years they could have crafted a measure that upon day one could have been proposed voted upon and signed into law by the president this should have been cued up ready and all set to go Craig it's not even that complex Ok one where we're talking about the forest and the treats right because the real issue is not. Health insurance it is the exorbitant cost of health care in this country where we spend $2.00 to $50.00 of every dollar than any other developed nation does on health care and our outcomes are not as good Ok so there is a fundamental problem with the system and if I were. Paul Ryan budget wonk I would be you know there certainly are enough stuff out there but the answer to the short term answer is really quite simple. It's a modernization of Medicaid and the creation of a public option that 5000000 people who can't afford health insurance are forced into the private health market makes no sense I mean there is that there's an immediate 25 percent savings just by taking away the guaranteed profit under Obamacare for the private insurers Ok and the fact that you could have c.m.s. Centers for Medicaid Medicare services do the administration for $0.84 a claim. Now why it is so hard more than half of Americans get their health care if you add it up Medicaid Medicare Tri-Care v.a. Care that Indian affairs etc Almost 60 percent of Americans get. Government. Organized or government delivered health care that is the definition of a public option it would be cheaper people who can afford it would have to pay into it it would give the the States an opportunity to do what Ohio and California have done with h m O's that have given better care to poor people at a much lower cost with better outcomes. And and we would be well on our way to the next big hurdle of budget and taxation where do you perceive the failure to be here then where's the disconnect that they've had 5 years to look at this to consider the points that you just raised and come up with a viable plan the yet nothing there there's no there there. We have too many lawyers. To be lawyers getting too many contributions from too many insurance companies no but you're hitting on something really really good there is a wonderful new book out called American sickness and it's written by a woman who is a doctor in a health care journalist and it follows on from a 2013 New York Times Time Magazine essay by a man by the name of Steven Brill and it talks about American health care and the costs etc but interesting thing and I'm going to make a little bit of a diversion here just so we get back to the why does Congress not do this. Senator Whitehead who is from or an island. Was complaining a Democrat was complaining about lobbyists on a. News show this week and complaining about how Exxon gets its way because it gives 8XB8XB dollars in campaign contributions and that area right as the secretary of state doesn't hurt either right but but. You see what he was missing was. The health care industry gives 500000000000. So you want to know why we don't have an efficient effective system there are 2 reasons 1st the concept of a public option and I'm going to tell you as a conservative. I do not believe in the single payer system Ok I would be extraordinarily opposed to a single payer but when it comes to Americans and the lower half of incomes. A system that modernizes and improves on Medicaid Ok at 50 percent of children in the country today are born via Medicaid 40 percent of our kids are on Medicaid this bill that's in front of Congress right now wants to take away their their dental benefits I mean this is proof this is this isn't even bad policy this is just plain spiteful and mean but and you know that's not conservative conservatives are not cruel they're not mean but part of the problem is the fear of the growth of the administrative state I'm sorry Craig I think we're past that and there's a lot of places where we could start to deal with pork barrel spending and waste before we even get to the ages won't just just think about in the in utilities we regulate utilities Ok because everybody gets them because they're public so if we have a public option that helps those who need the help that was available to people like that for federal government employees that have been had to combat had to compete at the high end with the private insurance market Ok we could insure more people we could do it more efficiently and we would begin to get control of those costs with because Medicaid doesn't Medicare does not pay the same. Claims rates as other insurance companies because it actually knows the costs and the biggest issue that we've seen in addressing or contributing I should say to double digit out of control runaway inflation in health care has been the complete total utter inability to get a handle on costs let's pause on that point we're in studio today with Joyce Corey Joyce is the founder and president of reimagine America by the way if you like what . You know your $5.00 aspirin what if you attest that a hospital cost $200.00 a test to quest costs the same task cost $20.00 posting prices which is something that John McCain suggested in the 2000 campaign would make a huge difference it would help people to shop more sensibly so that sort of regulation some kind of relationship between an f.d.a. Approval for a drug or really approval Ok And and what they're going to charge for it there has to be some reasonable relationship there don't let drug companies advertise like they are shampoo. Because that drives demand that's unnecessary and part of the problem too is that you have a corner on the market because you've discovered the formula you've got now the cure to x. Y. Z. Disease you are the only one that controls that So unlike being able to price shop of Chevrolet charges too much for a car I go across the street to the Ford dealership and say hey what will you do for me I can get a level of competitiveness in there and as a result the marketplace has controlled all to badly over prices in health care you can't do that you know because the guy across the street doesn't have access to that copyrighted formula and therefore the pharmaceutical companies are in a position to say well if you life to live if you like to cure their disease this is what you're going to have to pay well and in more than that when that copyright expires the generic companies will take cash from the drug company not to produce a generic. It's amazing it is amazing it's mind boggling and it's 20 percent of the u.s. Economy Ok so we have to fix it but last little point then let's move on to something else because we're boring people why it why do I fear a single payer versus you know this concept of Medicare for all you have to go to reimagine understand how insurance works and then and then see why Medicare is different than Medicaid but a single payer system. Puts too much power if you think of Obamacare put too much power in the hands of a anonymous unelected unaccountable bureaucrat. Give them a single payer system that's that would be the end of democracy as we know it it would it would fundamentally alter our society so I'm certainly not in favor of that but I think we could come up with a public option that would do it that would achieve the intended benefit and last but not least. One of the really big problems with Obamacare is that it fiddled around the edges of a failing system and it it it kind of went around to steal $0.20 from here and $0.30 from air because it couldn't be passed if you had to get out and say Ok We're going to have to have a new tax to pay for it there's no real a little bit out ladies and gentlemen if you want really good health care and you want to make sure that your children and their children have really good health care and are not so burdened by our debt that they can't afford basic they can't afford aspirin Ok we need to come clean and say health care costs money and we're going to have to find a source of funding a consumption tax which does $1.00 other little thing that will carry us on to our next topic and that is that it puts everybody who's in the system if we have a consumption tax a federal sales tax of a few cents Ok It means every single person who gets a benefit also has some skin in the game and that would change the dynamics of fee for service versus h.m.o. And that would begin to solve the problem oh I mean the old idea of personal responsibility and accountability when Adams The Who cares what a novel idea and are right or or what. The point is I always love to leave you left right so there is this still to the l.a. Times is priceless really good paper. There is a picture in the l.a. Times a couple of days ago of a woman you know parading the fact that that her health care was going to become so much more expensive because she has a preexisting condition called Type 2 diabetes this woman was as wide as she was deep Ok So part of personal responsibility is taking a walk watching what goes in your mouth taking care of your own health health is a precious gift God gives you you need to try to maximize your own sense of responsibility and self-worth by taking care of yourself well and there's no doubt that as America has moved into that arena of being grossly overweight grossly obese to the point of death that there has been the commensurate and companion increase in health care costs there's definitely a connection we're just failing to make it for ourselves because we're probably too busy eating We'll take a time out when we come back more about the modern day Teapot Dome scandal as this edition of life live with special guest Joyce Cordy continues right after a look at traffic and in the case facts traffic center again Michael Bennett thank you Greg and this report is brought to you by lead safe America we'll start with a pickup truck and a motorcycle involved in a collision in Cupertino some injuries involved here this is south on to 80 just before you get to the foothill expressway everything is in the center divide 2 car crash in Alamo northbound 688 regular road that is blocking the right hand lane in Santa Clara southbound want to one at 237 we have a minivan on top of the guardrail in the center divide Don't you want to know how it got there traffic stop and go from the Oregon expressway to. I guess we should not have been surprised that one of the 1st bigger acts of Donald Trump to gain attention is drawn from what gained him national popularity over the course of his career on n.b.c. You're fired only this time it. Wasn't taking place on a t.v. Screen for the benefit of the viewing audience but rather to the head of the the. Under. Shall we say slightly suspicious reasons at a time and place in light of the Russian investigation that probably the average 5th grader could have told you not good timing right now well he did fire him on television. Come we found out by by by turning around and looking at the television behind him in the l.a. Office of the of the f.b.i. . That he had been fired a To me that's vicious you know I'm a business woman I have fired you know I've had I had a big corporate career I fired a few people in my life but I got to tell you I never did it without looking at them in the eye over a desk. And and usually they were a whole lot bigger than I am so I have no I mean that was that was so classless it was vicious in a situation that didn't have to be vicious but more than that. When you are I what what what what was it that Shakespeare said or is it Dan Johnson when it 1st. We tried to deceive what a tangled web we weave Ok so that and now and we think the lady doth protest too much also seems to be up to a couple of well I think and their case it was penned protest too much the party line that it was because of the. The ridiculous line that it was because he was bad to Hillary. So you know it's 5 months after and he was very nice months for layering and so you would almost end and you know there is an investigation into how that was handled and so just today there was a leak that there is a to the New York Times I mean the times in the Washington Post these guys are making money like it's going out of style. And so is m s n b c But in Fox I mean guys you're just out of it. The information loop that is but now they're saying that Comey was Jew you buy a fake. Russian memo inserted into the stuff they stole from the d.n.c. That said Loretta Lynch wasn't going to prosecute Hillary no matter what that forced that that was why he had decided he would give a press conference I can hardly wait to hear his response to that one well I'm still trying to understand as well why the judicial branch would lean on the investigative branch for ultimate decision as to whether or not to prosecute should that not be a simply a presentation of the evidence and then it is the attorney general's office who says green light red light well but we know the attorney general recused herself and said all do whatever comi thinks is right last time I checked didn't get to work that way well it does when you are sitting on the tarmac in having a campaign eggs having a chat about grandkids about grandkids they have go on I go off I'm not talking about golf on the tarmac in Phoenix with the engines turned off in July I'm sorry you know that when is that when is a test your credulity but once she eliminated herself. You know she left me in an in an impossible situation. And you know Sally ates would have had to be the one who would I don't think she would have convened a grand jury this firing and the motivation behind it is now part of the broader investigation into potential ties between the administration and Russia. We have now appointed a special prosecutor the former head of the f.b.i. I might add Robert Mueller who I think will be fair but I think he's also going to make sure that no stone is left unturned who recommended Comey for the job he doesn't want to become another can start. So he wants to have a good and positive outcome from this experience and of course the added layer of complexity as so much information is leaking out of the White House like a set of and that we're beginning to see that this pattern that's developing would suggest that part of the problem. And maybe the connection is closer to the president than we think like maybe the son in law close Oh come on the minute that they said now number one. I think the whole Comey thing is an example of just how inept this entire White House is. That they thought that would slow down or stop an investigation they brought it on they brought Mueller on themselves and Mueller as you say will not leave a stone unturned he could get back to Hillary you know because I still can't another test of privilege is that the Russians hacked the d.n.c. The r n c And they didn't hack. The Clinton private server. I'm sorry I just don't believe that that's true well and yeah there's 2 topics and at play here too there's the topic of who hacked it how it went public what we seem to be conveniently skirting around and Hillary Clinton danced around and circles around this one so wide over the course of the run up to the election it's incredible that she didn't fall off the edge of the planet that no discussion about the content of those emails and what those emails revealed has ever been the circus the center of attention for anybody other than Then than perhaps the one man that was damaged the most who at the end I think would suggest he lost his presidency because of the jerry rigging that was going on behind the scenes to make sure he didn't get the nod and only Hillary did. And that is.
