You're going to have players older than you you can have players younger than you and ideally I think the reason McVeigh's there is because of his success with Kirk Cousins in d.c. But also because of his ability perhaps to relate to a younger player but you can it cuts both ways negatively in both directions on the edge back and if you're a 36 year old you know listen with 31 year old stuff like you when I started doing shows that I was a couple years younger than you're probably like this guy this guy at a sports center like I got me a cup of coffee hazed the heck out of me and in the younger players like dude you're 31 you like my brother's age so I got always just you know that's always going to emerge and you don't know how bout you. It's just the psychology you know you talk about some guy this guy I mean what is he what's he been through what I have to sit here and and respect as much as a guy like magic Tom Cotton was your coach and you know we went through those battles right but I will say when it's worked with the young coach you mention Tomlin Super Bowl champion head coach Jon Gruden he was 35 when he got the Raiders job in 98 other sports like Brad Stevens a guy not 31 but I got a head start on this and he just gets it maybe McVeigh's him now Martz as you might imagine this quote has taken on a level its own marksman on e.s.p.n. And it sounds like maybe he has the capability to do that he's just going to have to get there real quick I would say it's going to take him 3 years in the job to really feel like you can know what's go on at that point if you've done a good job you have been you know make it 5 years but if not it could be a disaster. Well still pretty pointed with some of those comments I think is I hate to take 3 years well if he does it if the ramps stay on a line that they they don't show improvement from last year he may not see 3 years where he might see 3 years and that's it so there is still that there is still that that dig a bit about being a younger coach in the challenges come it's not a situation where you hit the ground running if you're in your forty's or fifty's which I think Martz believes what would happen if that was a difference a choice. With a coach a little older so March is 66 years old hasn't been a head coach since he left Chicago with the bears he resigned in January 2012 so isn't that 35 year window he's talking about it's been more than that long since he was an n.f.l. Career last 3 years so yeah he's going to look out for number one but he's a good career and he has Yeah that feels been good to him but he's taken on to him to be very vocal and be involved with the Players Association he's been there for like 5 years it seems like well he was a link to some way shape or form 23 years associate But you're right no he came out you know 6 from the University of Miami the 3rd round pick so yeah he's he's put in his time and if you think anybody would care about we hear more from him than anyone else f l players association issues we usually go to him but now he's straight shooting is getting so straight that but do you have a problem like does he owe he or any other player right now whether you've been in since 06 or whether you're a rookie this year do you owe anything to the future of the game. Well. I suppose not I suppose. The future is going to be determined here in the present with so many decisions that are being made I think I think realistically when you hear that line about how much you love the game and you've been involved in this and you want to you love football that even though you may not agree with the n.f.l. The time to the fact that you love football is that you're going to try and leave a lasting impression you know leave you're going to try and leave the league a little bit better but I if these if this. The n.f.l. Has not done a lot of favors to these these players so if you go and you make your living and get a clean set of heels I have no issue with that at all. It's weird because I wish it was different I think that a lot but times are changing and the n.f.l. Where times are really tough with contracts that. Again you look back unless there's a select few who had the serendipity or everything worked out really well for them there's both these guys were these Everything you've dealt with the n.f.l. Probably show a bad taste in your mouth here's what Winston does care about though and he says as much he cares about the rookies now and how they can prepare themselves for this work stoppage that he deems is inevitable and it's just like anybody in a position of power like it's one thing if you're talking you know to somebody if your new employer someone you're talking to somebody who maybe was hired in the same hiring group as you are like.
