Morning Amy morning I guess what stands out is that. You know while they lowered his cap number this year which we figured they would have to do because it's at 20 it was a $27000000.00 or probably go down to. 21 in change now with the Patriots need that room because the last couple years they've been. Right up against the cap every year last year they just they had to restructure Stefan Gilmore's contract just to . You know meet sort of their cap obligations by the end of the year which is sort of on heard of the Patriots have never been in this territory for so they need to do it but the the big thing beyond that is that Brady's cap number now we don't know the official numbers but judging on some of the reports out there for me and Rappaport and others there's a good chance that Grady salary cap number is going to be around 3537000000 dollars next year which if they weren't going to do it $27.00 women doable for them which it isn't how is $37.00 going to be palatable for them and what are they going to do about it next year so I don't to me if if if the contract in the reports are true. You know we're looking at a one year contract for Tom Brady and then I don't know what they do next year so it's essentially a year to year type of thing which isn't a surprise but I've always wondered why is it that Tom Brady doesn't care about being among the highest paid like so many other quarterbacks to Greg why is that. I think it's just I think it's part of who he is and that you know he just wants to win and you know one specially want to marry didn't really happen anymore but somebody please equate it with respect like I'm going to be the guy is whether you need the money or you don't very often that's how they determine if they're respected in their profession Yeah I mean 99 percent of professional players are like that and you know but Brady I think Brady definitely tries to maximize his money off the field he's not shy about that especially some of the sponsors but you know and I've reported on this a few times that you know after the Patriots lost the Ravens and I want to say it was the 2000 well I think or 2011 a.f.c. And I love the unless the players agree to 18 games which I think eventual day will and I think it will happen I don't know if it's this c b a but I think it think it should happen the owners donors get. You know what 10 games of income right now they're not just going to take away pre-season games without making up that revenue. And the only way to do that and to do better is to take off from the preseason but to on the season and you know I'm sure there's a smart way to do it with like an extra pie we expand the rosters and things like that I mean you know this this proposal by 18 games players play 16 games is just you know ridiculous in a way to actually the the owners to make a lot more money and short circuit the players but you know there is a way to do and I think the players I'm telling you you put more zeros in front of the players agree to just about anything and I think that's the only way to do it means schedule and I think it will happen at some point the next turbine expanded rosters will block see other then more zeroes and more money what do you think the priorities some of the priority should be for the players as they move forward to the next labor deal. Well I mean if they had any stones they did they correct the whole disciplinary process to make it a lot more fair and put it in the 3rd party arbiter and things like that but. You know I've been around and I felt players for you know about 20 years and one thing I know is they like their paychecks they don't save and so you know they're not going to they're not going to threaten to change the game they have the power the players have all the power if they would just decide to seize it one of these years and ban together and say look we're not client until we get what we want and I just don't think they're going to do that I think discipline is certainly one of those things that they should. You know be after I think they should be after a you know a commissioner that is jointly approved by the players and the owners so that it's in the truly in the best interest of the game. But I have no faith that those guys are on him so then looking at the more pertinent issues for a couple of players you've got Melvin Gordon who's agent now says that he wants a trade that is eco Elliot who is holding out we saw what lay beyond Bill did last year where do you fall on paying running backs Todd Gurley money who incidentally was hurt at the end of last season and how do you think that these owners should handled running backs or holding out. Well I mean I think that those guys I mean I will never progress a liar for wanting more money especially running back to their position and the shelf life that they have. You know even in today's game with the changes to training camps and how to practice and things like that. But you know if I'm an owner there's no way I would ever pay running because you know it's a collision position you never know how long those guys are going to last I'm not sinking money into that I mean you know just what last year I mean you know if the Democrat goes for a little it was like the rip off of rookie of the year and he's undrafted free agent and you know you can find running I would I would have a lot of them they would all be cheap and I'd be waiting for the inevitable injury they would all be cheap. The idea though of loading up money on wide receivers so just for instance we know that Marg stand in line for a deal if he gets anywhere near Michael Thomas money you're talking about you know huge paycheck there whether or not they pay z. Q l yet we know what quarterbacks make these days it's a wonder that teams have any room left to fill out the $53.00 man roster under the salary cap. Yeah I mean that's a wide receivers of the position that I think that most teams just severely overpay I mean there are really only a handful of game changers up to at that position but you know you're talking about a position on the field that you know what even if they're an elite receiver what do they toss the ball and times again in a game with $140.00 snaps in it and also you know if you're worth a darn as a defensive coordinator. You can easily eliminate a wide receiver in the game so you know I think that I think that. When was the last time and n.f.l. Team won the Super Bowl with you know one of those elite receivers who just didn't have all known the Falcons although he did what he could. They would have won it if they didn't throw the ball that would have run the. But I mean I just don't think you know I know it's great for fans and all that but I just don't think it's when you're talking about a football team I would spend my money on defense a lot closer to the ball size of the line and up the middle on defense. I'm just seeing if the if the Patriots and Tom Brady can function in this preseason at all are does a lot of the same questions that we had to get last year about the Patriots.
