The younger people would always rush down to the air raid shelters when the bombs are being dropped. I can barely walk anymore. There does seem to be one issue pulling people together and that is the war in the east. There is some campaigning going on. It is very little compared to previous elections and the reason for that is that people dont want to see Political Party spending money on the campaign trail when they could be financing the illequipped military to help end this war which is the one desire that unites people at a time when they otherwise have a Broad Spectrum of expectations. They should make laws for the benefit of ordinary people rather than corrupt businesspeople. They should do something to enable society to progress. Were going to a short break. When we come back, a German Court Decision makes it easier for the government to make secret arms deals. We will be checking in on the lufthansa strike and a rebound on European Equity markets. Stay with us, we are back in over a minute from now. Military analysts are calling it a good day for german arms makers after a legal ruling at the constitutional court. But the court has given the government more leeway and increased secrecy when it comes to the sale of weapons to foreign governments. The judges did underscore parliaments watchdog role as the court sought to balance policy needs and human rights concerns. In 2011, the german legislators found out from the media that the government planned to sell 200 tanks to saudi arabia. Some said they should have been informed much sooner and took the matter to the constitutional court, saying that things could be used against civilian demonstrators. The court handed down a mixed decision. The promised a share in the governments knowledge, it cannot exercise its right of oversight under the separation of powers but there are limits to parliament and individual legislators right information. The court said Germanys NationalSecurity Council asked to inform parliament about arms deals but only once they have been approved and if parliament acts. The plan and sports can remain secret. The plaintiffs were disappointed. We dont have the chance to exercise or oversight at an earlier stage when it might still be possible to influence the decision. Judges said the german constitution does allow for some secrecy. But, they rule of planned arms deals were revealed to soon, it would restrict the governments room to maneuver on foreignpolicy issues. And this is in germany that affects many people, lufthansa pilots are threatening more strikes this week in a dispute over the airline cutting their early retirement benefits. Lexa pilots walked off the job on monday forcing lufthansa to cancel short and medium haul routes. This tuesday, the stoppage has been extended to more profitable longhaul flights. It has become a familiar routine. Nearly all of lufthansa flights have been grounded. Over 160,000 passengers have been affected. Their patience has run out and so has their sympathy. It is gone too far. At this stage, too many people have been affected. I dont know how itll end. If you see the thousands of people here, everybody is passed out and my sympathy is lost. Lufthansa has described the action as illegal and is seeking an injunction. But today, we have seen that without advanced warning, a small union or Works Council can complete the shut down our operations. This shows that we need more concrete rules in order to her seat in an orderly fashion. Trikes have cost lufthansa around 100 Million Euros this year. Some say the rend of strikes could be dangerous. It is problematic because it leads to a shift in the balance of power. It allows small groups to benefit at the expense of others. In longterm, it causes damage to the economy. The pilots union is determined to press on. The groups are not backing down on their insistence that the early retirement age stay fixed at 55. Members have threatened more strikes in the coming days. That is not only a reputational damage to lufthansa but also to germany as a place to do business. The German Government currently is working on a law which in the future should curtail the power of small unions. Onto the markets and shares in europe rebounded on tuesday. Apple delivered Quarterly Results which are much better than people expected. Chinas economy slowing its growth but still stronger than people thought. The European Central bank might soon began buying up corporate bonds. That is one issue minute hasnt mentioned yet but according to a report it is in the cards and that could create even more cheap money for the economy but also for the markets here. And more business now, the Dallas Federal ReserveBank President says the u. S. Economy could fully recover from the financial crisis by next year. Economic growth has redone after the meltdown from the 2008 financial crisis. Even as employment numbers improved, Many Americans are struggling to get by. If americas economy is doing so well, why have protests like this become a common sight this year . Just ask april lee, she is part of the good news about the economy. It just doesnt feel that way to her. Every dollar counts. April is a single mom on minimum wage. One of the countrys bestknown burger chains pays her seven dollars and . 25 an hour. It is not even enough to pay for groceries. The government has to pick up that bill with food stamps, a lifeline that april depends on. Here and the heart of washington, workers at the worlds biggest supermarket have come out to demand higher wages and hours they can count on. They are workers on the wrong side of americas growing divide between the very rich and the rest. The failure of the economy to improve the lives of ordinary americans has turned out to be a fundamental problem for the Obama Administration because if they talk about growth and job creation without talking about incomes and living standards, they just sound as though theyre out of touch. But the white house has been advocating a rise in the federal minimum wage but it cannot get it through congress to let alone tackle some of the deeper challenges facing the whole western world. But we dare that globalization and technology would work for working people in the developed world as well as in the developing world. That is turned out not to be true and no caps on that has figured out what to do about that. April hostages concern is giving her daughter better chances than she had with a college education, but the cost of that are so high and is nothing more than a dream. I cannot even added to my list, i really cant. I cannot afford it to added to my list at this moment. Now, people just want to get her voice heard by the people that employed her.
