Poised to pull america out of the paris climate accord. Is it with the American People really want . We would hear from washington. Welcome to the program. Thanks for joining us. The afghan president has condemned a truck bombing in the center of kabul. He described the attack as cowardly and said many innocent people including children lost their lives. 90 people are dead and 400 injured. No one has claimed responsibility. The taliban says it was not involved. A blast so powerful it flattened cars. It blew the windows out of buildings far away and left this crater. The explosion sounded like an earthquake according to witnesses. Cabal it resembled a volcano. Leaving the city in disarray. The wounded were rushed away for treatment. People struggled to come to terms with one of the worst bomb attacks kabul has experienced in years. I was going to the office. I work for a communications company. I was in my car when the bomb exploded. The taliban has denied being part of the attack. It is unclear which air he was being targeted. Multiple embassies are in the blast radius. And the president ial palace. Medical staff worked urgently to treat hundreds who were injured. Everything was destroyed. A lot of people died. All the people on the streets were killed. Cleanup has begun. Authorities are left to work out how a bomb got into one of the most heavily guarded areas of the city. The German Government had been deporting afghan asylumseekers back to their home country but germany canceled a Repatriation Flight and joined in the condemnation of violence in the country. Among dozens killed, and Afghan Security guard who worked at the German Embassy. Chancellor merkel expressed her sympathy but also had a clear message for the perpetrators. All of us to believe in the rights, freedom and indignity of and dignity of mankind will wage war against terrorists and we will win. The attack came on the day germany was planning to deport a group of failed asylumseekers. Instead they announced a temporary suspension. They are unable to deal with the deportees. Usually deportees are met and accompanied by German Embassy staff. After the attack they have more important things to do. Opposition politicians say the attack rooms afghanistan is too dangerous to deport people to. After such a severe attack you cannot talk about afghanistan being safe. Why people are being deported at all is inconceivable. The German Government wants to continue the deportations. The conservatives take a firm line with those obliged to leave the country. There must be a distinction between people were granted asylum and people who are not. It cannot be that regardless you are allowed to stay in germany. Germany has deported 106 afghans in the past month. The postponed deportations will likely soon be resumed. Dw met one afghan man who has been repatriated. Hes fearful of the ongoing violence. Have a look. Fear, alienation, loneliness. This is what he associates with kabul. Last december he returned on the first deportation flight. Hes afraid to show his face for fear of the taliban from whom he fled at the time. The taliban murdered my father because he was a famous general. That is why i fled. If they find me they will kill me. I cant go on the streets. Im afraid for my life. Its not safe here. He looks at pictures from germany. He misses his friends from the school he attended one has asylum application was rejected. Migration did not believe his story and they deported him. Its not fair. After six years we were integrating. I learned the language. I did training. It was never easy but we did it. I think it is wrong they would kick us out. Today he has an appointment, its founder went back to afghanistan a few years ago. Hes helping deportees providing counseling and emotional support, helping them find work. They are in a situation they dont know where to go. They dont have a family or network here. They dont have to find work. They are afraid of security. You are sending people back to nothing. Because they dont have anything, they dont find means of survival, as soon as they are deported they leave the country again. He is staying with friends but its hard. He doesnt want to burden them. He doesnt want to return to his home. He doesnt know where his mother and brother are living. He has lost contact. Ive tried to locate my mother but i just dont know where she is. I dont know if she is alive or dead. Flying to europe is not an option. He does not have money to pay smugglers and has no prospects. For now he exists in a vacuum. Neither welcome in germany or afghanistan. Leaving the living between the past and the present. Lets turn to other news. There is a week to go until people in Great Britain had to the ballot box. Theresa mays conservatives could fail to win a parliamentary majority on june 8. The Prime Minister called poles in strengthening her hand again ahead of brexit. She defended her decision not to participate in a tv debate with other candidates. U. S. Media says donald trump has decided to withdraw the United States from the u. N. s press climate agreement. The white house has refused to report. Trump says he will make a final decision in the next few days. He has long threatened to climb get out of the climate agreement signed two years ago. December 2015. The paris accord hailed as a breakthrough in the fight against Global Warming. Only syria and nicaragua refused to sign. The u. S. President at the time was instrumental in brokering the deal. He pushed china to take it share of responsibility. The two countries of the worlds biggest producers of greenhouse gases. The u. S. Promised to cut emissions by a quarter by 2025. Then donald trump came along. He disappointed World Leaders by not endorsing the accord in italy, having once cold Climate Change and urgent problem. He later said it was a hoax. On the campaign trail trump repeatedly vowed to quit the deal. Unbelievable. We are going to stop all payments of the United States tax dollars to you and Global Warming programs. Protecting the u. S. Coal industry was behind the valve. Trump has stuck to that line, saying the deal was bad for u. S. Business and jobs. My administration is putting an end to the war on coal. We are going to have clean coal. With todays executive action im taking steps to lift restrictions on american energy, to reverse government intrusion and cancel job killing regulations. Scientist blame Global Warming for unpredictable weather. Time is running out. For more lets bring in the latest from washington this afternoon. How reliable is this reporting he is going to pullout of the deal . Its interesting, the media, many have reported he is going to make a decision soon, maybe even today. President trump is leaning toward an exit. He has not made a decision yet. When it comes to Climate Change the white house is deeply divided. You have ivanka trump and Rex Tillerson in favor of the climate agreement. Of say we should stick with that. There is this influential senior advisor, steve annan who says we should withdraw. The sooner the better. There has been International Reaction to this. The president of the Eu Commission has slammed his opposition to the deal. It would take 34 years after the agreement came into force to leave the agreement. This notion, im america, american first. That wont happen. Does he have a point . Is leaving not that simple . He could write a letter to the secretary to the u. N. And say we are pulling out and this would be it. After a year america would not be part of this agreement. I dont think donald is thinking too much about the consequences for the environment. He is thinking as we have seen in the report about his voters, the coal miner in kentucky, west virginia, the bluecollar worker in michigan and pennsylvania, he made sure that he is going to become the president of the United States who voted for him. He wants to keep his promise. He said several times that Climate Change is from his perspective a hoax. He wants to keep his promise. Shirley among those voters there must be some concern about the consequences of pulling out of this deal. It is america versus the rest of the world. There are only two other countries not signed up. Syria and nicaragua. A great club. You are right. On the other hand you hear those soundbites, we may close a coal mine here and our workers will lose their job but those guys in china and india, when we close a coal plant they will reopen 10 new plants. It doesnt make sense for the environment and american business. The latest from washington. Thank you. You are watching dw news. Still to come, a trade Partnership Worth billions. Relations between germany and china as the chinese Prime Minister visits berlin. Back in a minute. I will see you then. Every woman, every man knows a child needs food. We had a lot of problems before they came. They were eating nothing when they were coming from home. That could have easily been any one of us. Welcome back. A massive truck bomb has hit the center of the afghan capital. 90 people are dead. Hundreds wounded. It took place in the diplomatic corner next to the embassy. Donald trump is going to pull the country out of the paris climate deal. He said he will make a final decision the next few days. The u. S. Would be the only nonparticipant in the only effort to stop the Climate Change. That decision promises to have a big impact on businesses. You can bet investors are listening closely to those reports from u. S. Media that donald trump pull america out of the agreement. We are awaiting confirmation. In the world of business, ceos and businesses are getting ready to act. The ceos of exxon mobil, dow chemical and tesla urge trump to remain in the agreement. Elon musk threatened to quit White House Advisory Councils he sits on if the president pulls out. He tweeted we will have no choice but to the park councils in that case. Other ceos have called on trump to stick to the climate deal. They are afraid of the negative consequences of nonparticipation. Lets get the reaction from wall street. Standing by, what are traders making of the plan to pull out of the climate agreement potentially . We had some surprising and not so surprising reactions. We had stocks from solar companies, from Renewable Energy firms trading to the downside at coal stocks they suffered quite a bit. The fear is that if only the u. S. Gets out of the paris plan the reputation of coal may suffer further. General were hoping to promote for clean coal as much is possible. If donald trump were to decide to get out of the Paris Agreement it could be a lose lose situation for the broader u. S. Economy. What will that mean for the industries . Surely companies are trying to fall in line with climate deal requirements. You cant stop the future and development. It would like be putting a wall in front of a highspeed train in full motion. A lot of companies from the oil industry for example change their business already quite a bit. If you look at texas, for example, they are the biggest producer of wind energy and the United States, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs. More jobs get created in the renewable fields than in the fossil fuel driven industries. Even if donald trump decides to get out, that probably wont change or stop the movement that is already in place. Who knows, maybe donald trump will think twice. Thank you for the update. Chinese Prime Minister in berlin to talk trade with the german chancellor. Germany appears to be looking at strengthening business ties as the u. S. Turns towards protectionism. That is not to say it is plain sailing with china either. The chinese premier was received with military honors in berlin. As america becomes more isolationist merkel appears to be turning her attention to asia. A pivot that has a lot to do with business. Before the Meeting Deutsche Bank said it would provide 3 billion euros worth of funding for projects linked to road initiatives. It is focused on boosting connections with countries in europe and asia. The signs may suggest china is opening up for foreign companies. The experience is often different. A survey of European Countries revealed access remains the main hurdle doing business in china. It is simply a reality. China is not a fullfledged market economy. It is driven by policies by the government that make life difficult for companies there. The meeting with merkel comes before a china summit takes place in brussels. It coincides with reports the u. S. Is set to exit the primus paris climate accord. That could enable china to assume a more dominant role in the world stage. Traditionally seen as an economic heavyweight the country is keen to show it is ready to wield political influence. The european commissions laid out performs to reinvigorate. That includes a european deposit insurance game to strengthen the euro. And for the down the line, jointly issued debt is the most contentious of the policies. Tracking those ideas for us is our brussels correspondent. The idea was previously rejected by germany in the euros in crisis. Everything changed since micron came and office. The love is flowing in berlin these days. As long as you leave out the nasties and dont talk about neutralization of debt. That is still off. Other ideas like Investment Fund for the eurozone might be among the first things that can be pushed into being. We already have the roadmap. Ministers meeting for the first time. The scheduled meeting to talk about these issues in june, the agreement reached in july. Work can start seriously after the german elections in september. Never before have we been at a point where the performer for eurozone was so much, so close to coming into being, so close to reality. These ideas create what the french president had been promising during his election. He has to get those reforms through. He needs to. His political fate is tied to it. He needs to drive the risk and reform french by their hair out of there, but zone. He has the plans. We know more or less what they are. He has to push them through. It depends on how quickly and well he manages to do that. How big he is in the majority. It also depends how hot the summer is going to be. How much the trade unions are willing to wage total war by striking before saying actual therefore tankards, being blocked and stuff like that. Weve seen in the past this can get very serious. Then it may depend on the quality. Also in the end it depends on the political will of micron. He has shown hes a strategist, a hardnosed politician. If anybody can do it he can. Thank you much. Back over to sarah. A controversial ruling. A court has ruled that facebook is allowed to block a family from accessing Facebook Accounts of deceased relatives. A mother had been selling the social media giant to gain access to her daughters messages and posts which he hoped would reveal more about her death five years ago. A berlin metro station, a 15yearold girl overrun by an incoming train. Whether it was suicide is unknown. To find out if she was bullied online the parents tried to get access to her facebook page. Although they have the login code the site was blocked as facebooks which did in two deceased mode. On the one hand the court appreciates the desire of the parents to clear up the circumstances of their childs death. On the other hand the court is bound by the law. There were difficult constitutional issues to decide. Ruling was not easy to reach. The judge ruled that although the facebook account could be inherited by the parents, opening the account would compromise the privacy of the teenagers contacts. They had not given their approval. The court permitted an appeal to the high court. To recap, the top stories we are following. A massive truck bomb at the center of the afghan cop itll capital in kabul.
