News Garcia Navarro good morning Breck's it is finally coming to the United Kingdom or at least that is the promise after the resoundingly win by Boris Johnson and his conservative party that means that England Wales Northern Ireland and Scotland will no longer be part of the European Union once the deal gets done but in Scotland a different message was sent by the ballot box this week Scots overwhelmingly voted for the Scottish National Party which is advocating independence from the u.k. So that it can remain in Europe we have Emma Harper on the line she's an s.n.p. Member of the local Scottish Parliament and she's going to tell us more a good morning good morning Lulu thank you for speaking to me this morning and the head of your party Nicholas Sturgeon said yesterday and I'm quoting here Scotland very clearly wants a different future to the one that's been chosen by much of the rest of the u.k. And Scotland wants to have the right to choose its own future Boris Johnson says that isn't going to happen and he's not authorizing a 2nd referendum on independence what now you know in Scotland we have a different approach to the government is running the country and I think it democracy should prevail that's the bottom line and what does that look like I mean Scotland try to referendum in 2014 most voted then to remain what makes this time different well in 20. It was still pretty close and they a lot of the messages that were given to the people in Scotland in 2014 was if you knew you would be all key and remain in the e.u. But it has completely you know turned around sense then your party won 48 out of 59 seats I mean that is a pretty resounding victory why are Scots feeling so differently about Brock's it than England and Wales the people that I'm speaking to realise that we need our citizens or even friends to work in Scotland and support our businesses and support our record to me what I'm hearing you say there that there is no desire by Scots to be led for 5 years by a Tory government in London no it is an awful daunting thought to have 5 years of Boris Johnson and his cronies Well what can you do because legally it is the government there that gets to decide if a Scottish referendum can take place next week when we are back in Parliament My understanding is that the 1st minister is going to set forward. Aplon if they profess to have democracy we need the government to agree what's called a Section 30 order we had Section 30 order granted for the 2014 referendum so why can't we have another section 30 order to approve another referendum what your party is advocating could lead to the breakup of the u.k. Is that a future you're prepared for We've seen what the u.k. Leaving the e.u. Has been like are you promising something that might not be either easy or good for the country financially well financially Scotland is very very strong economically I mean Scotland I actually exports more at that than imports our diverse portfolio for salmon beef. Including whiskey and. Even our renewable energy finally you know the e.u. Is also not in favor of countries splitting up are you certain that they would welcome this and the e.u. Leadership has already intimated that Scotland would be welcome to join the rest of the e.u. Will want what's best for everyone that's local Scottish m.p. Emma Harper thank you so much thank you Lou Thank you. We're going to check in now with voters and how impeachment may impact their eventual decision President Trump says impeachment is a political winner for him but over the course of the process more Americans have warmed to the idea and come to reject it as the poll aggregate at $538.00 shows more Americans are pro impeachment now than anti now only 48 percent to $46.00 we are in an unprecedented situation Donald Trump is the 1st president seeking reelection who is being impeached so what's happening is a concern for Americans not just as citizens but also as voters someone who's Madison business or I am from the Brainerd Lakes area Brainard Minnesota and I am 23 My name is Jennifer Alvarez 33 I live in San Luis Arizona it's the main port of entry to Mexico hole in the wall City My name is John Eaton I'm from Northwest Arkansas and I. Made as she said a natural Fun Center in New York the living Gettysburg Pennsylvania a registered Republican with more down the middle almost libertarian type beliefs Hanes works as an auto mechanic and Pennsylvania is a key state the trump one in 2016 he says his identification with the g.o.p. Has softened over time and he's more and more drawn to authentic candidates like he says Bernie Sanders or Tulsi Gabbert but he voted for Donald Trump once and he could again in a go at bat is everybody says on the left you know if you don't have great in there but he says I'm right you know and he's not convinced about impeaching trump a feel like it's more of a witch hunt last ditch effort than it is anything of solid in peach of a basis over in Arizona Jennifer Alvarez is also cool on impeachment I've been finding it more is a waste of time and misuse of resources she says she's leaning Trump in 2020 but the border is complicating things on the one hand she lives there. And immigration and the wall on the southern border is a trump passion project on the other hand she has family trying to immigrate and the administration is making that harder and harder my family personally has been trying to do it the correct way one of my brother in laws he can't come over and they say you have to come up with x. Amount of dollars within x. Amount of days to continue things and making the prices even higher makes it even that much more difficult for people to come over our cans and John Eaton is an environmentalist and union supporter who voted for Barack Obama and Joel Stein I'm open minded to voting for Donald Trump and you know it kind of you know figure he's been in the media and I kind of feel like he's a little bit of an embarrassment the same time I am results oriented person and things are kind of going pretty well right now it and says he's open to voting for a Democrat in 2020 and he doesn't want the impeachment process to make the decision for him it almost looks weak on opposing party when they kind of go after their candidate instead of going after the next election in 2016 voters in Minnesota's crowing County favored Trump overwhelmingly by 63 percent Madison bs no I didn't she voted for Hillary Clinton though not enthusiastically now she's more energized no matter what happens with impeachment yeah be nice if it happens but at the same time that's not something I ever got my hopes up about it was more how are we going to do in the election so what do these voters want out of the next election what issues are driving their votes even though I make Ok money. For me to live by myself to have a car payment just all of it and then pay an $800.00 a month student loan payment it's like how do you want me to be able to buy a house like how do you want me to have a savings account so I want a president that is looking into that that's Madison from Minnesota the elderly the whole Medicare or Social Security system if that could be fixed Jennifer Alvarez of Arizona our nation's deficit our lack of care or now comments and underprivileged we make it as country a whole lot of money if you like we're doing nothing about it and Neil Haynes of Pennsylvania we also heard from John Eaton of Arkansas. News I'm Lou Garcia Navarro and the aircraft at the center of 2 fatal crashes will not be allowed to fly for the forseeable future the Boeing 737 Max has been grounded since this past March Boeing thought that would end soon but according to Federal Aviation Administration chief Steve Dixon it won't here is an appearance before Congress this past week when the 737 Max is returned to service it will be because the safety issues have been addressed and pilots have received all the training they need to safely operate the aircraft I'm not going to sign off on this airplane until I fly it myself but the f.a.a. Chief isn't the only person to have a say in what happens next we're joined now by American Airlines pilot Peter Gamble who sits on his pilots union committee examining the 737 Max's possible return to service welcome sir yes thank you Captain Campbell let me 1st ask about what f.a.a. Administrator Dixon said this week Joe why the f.a.a. Still has reservations about letting the 737 Max fly what they're worried about well I wouldn't necessarily think that there's a worry I think more of it is that there's been an awful lot of input and changes to software and also collaborating down to what the required training is going to be for the pilot crew for return to service and his agency I think is taking a leadership role into making sure that they get a chance to review all of it I'm told you recently flew the 77 back simulator with Boeing's proposed fix installed correct that is correct so how did the plane fly in that simulation so flew a simulator in Miami and it took a scenario in which there was an angle of attack failure on takeoff which is what actually downed the 1st 2 planes right yes it was definitely involved in both both incidences and that in itself creates a lot of distraction there's. Noises with a stick shaker There's a non ca sions of unreliable air speed unreliable altitude and so it takes the time to actually get through that startle process to actually figure out where what is actually a problem and in the course of the new change with the software it actually looks at both Ingle attack pains instead of just one as it did prior to the software changes so does it feel at this point that so far things are looking good yes I think that the process so far has definitely made the improvements needed the final product were all still waiting for there were a lot of failures though that led up to this there was a disturbing report last week in The Wall Street Journal that says that the f.a.a. Essentially knew enough after the 1st 737 Max crash to know that the plane should have been grounded immediately or there would be many more crashes and yet it wasn't we were not aware of that report and ministry to Dixon brought that forward or was actually asked about that in front of Congress. I think his presence is that by knowing that that he's making sure that never happens again but is there a worry about confidence in the f.a.a. And the plane in the decision making process because there were obviously multiple levels of failure Well I think that what happened in the past obviously needs to be corrected in right now the process has been moving so even though the deadline hasn't been set in it's not driven by a calendar it's driven by safety there has been progress made in getting to a point where this could be returned to service when do you think it'll be flying again I mean are we talking weeks months January's going to be a better perspective of when the f.a.a. Has a chance to do the full review at that point they'll be a better clarity as far as where the final timeline will be masculine you might feel good about taking yourself or your family up in the 737 Max again Well I think because I've been so close to the. Changes that have occurred we feel confident that our input is the aircraft will be safe aviation is always built around redundancy and the major changes that have happened have been built redundancy back into the airplane that should have been there before that's American Airlines pilot Peter Campbell thank you very much thanks so much. A group of fathers in York England is learning some important skills including French planning Dutch braiding and how do you use yes they are going to hair school we did some Christmas trees last time we did one guy was doing like a ha and things like That's Mike Hewitt one of the founders of Yorkie dads we 1st heard about his school on the b.b.c. My daughter always generally wants what she calls like her also have which is essentially a ponytail plotted and she can pretend that she's Elsa from Frozen he Yorkie dads was created about 4 years ago the parenting support group offers activities like Lego clubs and 1st day classes but then one of the founders Jack Wooden's had a knotty dilemma he told us his daughter had a party and the old unicorn and Jack was really students just brushed and said you know what we need so they came up with her school and got a local hairdresser to lead the classes they've been meeting the last Sunday of the month and have had over 20 sessions attended by a dozen men or so he said shellac is a Yorkie dad who's been brushing up on his skills with his 4 year old daughter Zohra we take a photograph and every 2 seconds she goes me look at me look she want to see it too soon as we come home in front of her money she actually turns around and she says Mummy I have a beautiful my daddy did it and they're asking mummy to see it so she can do Mummy's hair but shellac says there's more to hair school than bubbles and scrunchies the classes are a good way for dads to bond with their daughters and distress at the end of a work week the bar lies Friday afternoon when we come home I think it's a safe to say with all of our bosses and customers saw on the weekend when we meet up we have a coffee the little bit of have a chat about what's going on you could almost got and he that one of the dads will actually manage to open south who was by being in the same boat in. When by listening those held from the stress point of view you will realize you not by yourself really really help especially from a mental health point of view so there's bonding and also the thrill of showing off a job well done and Tsars proud papa says he hopes to keep up the skills he's learned in the class maybe one day fixing his daughter's hair on her wedding day the wedding dreams of the dream and if I do with the happiest guy in the planet. John Leguizamo has just wrapped up his one man show after a national tour including a stop here in Washington he'd been performing it for 6 years it's called Latin history for more barriers that I did not know enough about my ancestor to pass on to my kids I mean I kind of sort of knew about Atlanta time and what is that 1000 b.c. We had my and then we have now. And what is the age of pitfall I have been wanting to talk to him for a long time and his being here in Washington is a great opportunity so here he is John who was on the thank you for being with me thank you for having me what you seem change while you've been performing a lot in history for morons I mean obviously you started it because your son was bullied right and he wanted to sort of talk about Latino history in this country so what's changed well the election happened in a midterm election happen and now we're always ready for another election and that would I think helped galvanize a lot of what I was saying because I mean a lot of what I was home on the show obviously predated the 26000 election and the only thing that changed was my outrage about it. I mean the hate crimes against Latinos are up 41 percent whereas hate crimes against Muslims are down actually against Jews are down but that dinos obviously are being targeted through the rhetoric we hear words like infestation right you know it's demonized by by human artists president uses exactly and others Yeah mostly him I mean his his rhetoric against Latin people becomes sort of like a mandate it is not even a dog whistle it's so blatant and for all the pushback all the sort of not being asked to be at the table with the big decisions are being made we're still making begin roads because we're we've added $2.00 trillion dollars to the u.s. Economy if we were own cunt. The 8th largest economy in the world so even with all these horrors and hate mongering from from the president and Republicans allowing that to happen we still thriving which is how we've always survived and yet at a moment when this is happening when you're seeing family separations at the border you're seeing a lot of policies that really are aimed squarely at Latinos we still see this invisibility that you talk about this racial I mean if you look at your own industry I think a report came out that said that only 4.5 percent of speaking roles went to Latino actors I know and that's because I wrote an article a year ago saying we were at 3 percent complaining and Billboard magazine but we already went up $1.00 started complaining with the 2nd largest ethnic group in America after white people and yet the Nielsen boxes are not representing Latinos you're diluting our power in Hollywood with 50 percent of the population and less than 4 percent of the faces in front of the camera behind the camera that's cultural apartheid Why is it happening and you view this is something I've been grappling with because you know I had a national news program and not a week goes by where I don't get an email from a listener complaining about too much Hispanic content on my show and that's even on weeks when there is only me on the show no other Latinos and other Latino content and the letters always start with I'm not a racist but and I'm trying to understand what it is that they're hearing why are they hearing something different just because my name is Luke. I mean the president has definitely fueled the sort of. With racist people is giving them a voice is giving them a sense that they can speak out because I'm not sure these people are racist in the way that we would understand it and they may not call you a derogatory term to your face but they don't want you you know like I do speeches across the country where where I vilify the New York Times and Hollywood and you get like you to a couple or 2 older white couple who I guess just watch Fox news and they started booing as they go back to Mexico you know I said that's cool I'm not but I'm not from Mexico in Puerto Rican and that's going to already started turning against them and I said no no no this is a country of respect each They're cool to say what they want I just was correcting them and I move on. You know you've written all these editorials you give speeches advocate for this all the time who are you talking to when you go around the country who all of it all of you who are speaking to all of you every single one of you because we can't do it completely alone and that's who I'm talking to I'm talking to yet audiences very mixed and they come to listen to me talking and I'm talking very political I'm talking about our Latin contributions in our lack of inclusion and a seat at the table and I think it's making differences when I wrote my article about our visibility in Billboard and then it got echoed in other Latin artists in different publications and it starts to build start to build momentum. But the message can just be you need to do it because you should do it because we're 17 percent of the population that's not the See that's that's the ugly question in the room That's why are we there because we're not talented enough or not smart enough there are so many brilliant people out there that are just excluded because they're Latino I've been pitching scripts to Hollywood for 30 years and I always thought it was that maybe I'm just a bad writer maybe I just don't write well enough because it was always rejected oh you know Latin people don't really want to see Latin people all that people don't want to see feel good movies with all this Hollywood wisdom that's really just racism or just they don't get us and that's what we need Latin executives there and there's plenty of Latin people who are super talented super capable of each job they have not been given that job. This journey started for you 6 years ago with this show and as you mentioned it was because your son was bullied I'm curious how he's doing now after you've done all this for him My son is doing great he's really thriving he's in college now in economics major in Palestine minor and I hope the poly side is because of my influence but when you look at him and you see what he might be in the future what does the future look like for have you know in this country as a Latino. Let's let's hope it's a lot better I mean in it should be a lot better I mean when Latinos have direct access to their target audience we are successful that's why we have Latin baseball players who are successful in everywhere and doing great in managers because those are stats and you can measure that why are we crushing it in music Carty be Camilla Cabello. Bad bunny valve and j. Lo why we crushed it because you can scan the purchases but everywhere else where it's gray and somebody is you know let it somebody discretion that's we're not succeeding John that was on his show is called Latin history for morons thank you so much thank you for having. This that as the Weekend Edition from n.p.r. News. This is Dr Michael Wilkes with a 2nd opinion reporting from Uganda in East Africa and Uganda each i.v. Is still a huge problem more than a 1000000 and a half people are infected that's nearly 6 percent of the adult population between the ages of $15.49 the disease is still spreading in kids are still being born infected with HIV perhaps those most affected are teens especially girls each Ivy prevalence among young women is 4 times higher than it is among young men of the same age gender inequality and cultural barriers make it difficult for girls and young women to negotiate safe sex but in Uganda young children are living longer Aids related deaths in children below 5 dropped by more than 50 percent in the past 17 years while the number of adolescents who died from Aids doubled during the same period in Uganda once and each i.v. Infected child reaches school age there is big controversy about whether or not to disclose their HIV status to school officials estimates are that about 2 thirds of kids with HIV have informed their schools of their positive status those opposed to telling school officials a child's HIV status worry about bias and stigma that is rampant in society those kids whose positive HIV status is known report being bullied being stigmatized and being ostracized by teachers play yard monitors and even school nurses who are supposed to support and protect these kids those in favor of informing school officials that it child tests positive for HIV explains that this allows school officials to create suppose. Groups to remind kids to take their medicines and to make sure that the infection doesn't spread to other children if there's an injury that results in bleeding and these advocates for mandatory reporting age i.v. Status argue that it allows for the protection of all students and teachers alike there is no question that kids with HIV are highly vulnerable many have been traumatized and many already have lost both parents to HIV So they're alone without the support that many other children have not uncommonly those with HIV also have special needs they need to take special medications regularly they need to go to frequent doctor appointments and they often need psychological support yes some schools in Uganda have created supportive environments for their HIV positive students but many others ignore the problem either because they're not aware of the need or because of severely limited resources until schools require teachers to take sensitivity training and engage in HIV awareness programs it seems to me the risk of divulging a child's HIV status to the school is just too high and is not in the child's best interest from Uganda East Africa this is Dr Michael Wilkes with a 2nd opinion. In Paris life has ground to a halt a general strike there is in its 11th day and there are daily protests to unions are upset about Emanuel changes to the country's retirement system and they are threatening to continue striking through Christmas Here's N.P.R.'s Eleanor Beardsley it's not the protests that are the problem if you're not on the March route they don't really affect you but the transport strike is killing everyone. Buses are running that's put thousands more cars motorcycles scooters and bikes into the streets and on to the side walls Paris has become an obstacle course I tried going out one night this week 10 pairs are closed on coming up to mine I desperately need to go somewhere is going to be open or closed no it's closed I feel very angry and a reception and I can't get there I jump on the lime scooter to get to the other end of the avenue we're at birth there's a bus right. Start. With that bus never comes. So I get a taxi driver. Tells me even if there's more demand than out it's not worth it. The strike is inconvenient but I have a home office and don't have to get anywhere. But it is eating into other people's livelihoods like my part time nanny Daveed she lives within walking distance from me but she's been unable to get to her other jobs I didn't work for down the last week. Holy House. Down the street. Restaurant cafe he says his business is down 30 percent and his chef has been sleeping in the back room because he can't make it home and back every day. Never see a shopkeeper. Striking because they've got bills to pay. The strikers are just complain or sick for me we have a president who is elected to reform the country. They're laughing because he isn't a former neo nazi he's actually a former Islamist extremist It might be the ultimate You had to be there joke but that space to laugh to heal to find solidarity that's what draws this group together Tanya Joya Melissa Buckley movie and shake they're all members of a nonprofit parents for peace almost everyone in the room is a former extremist or has a loved one who got involved with extremism I'm on a mission I want to help others no one should have to go through the pain no one Melvin Bledsoe and his daughter Monica Holly founded parents for peace in 2015 it emerged from their family's personal heartache Melvin son Carlos was radicalized soon after converting to Islam and college Carlos traveled to Yemen assistance a play to teach English but the man who returned Alvin says wasn't the same when he came back to America and we had no idea that he had been fully loaded. You are looking at the man police say opened fire on 2 soldiers at a military recruiting office in Little Rock this morning in 2009 Carlos Bledsoe by then known as Abu Hickey Mohammed killed one soldier wounded another Today he's serving a life sentence. His sister Monica says parents for peace offers the help her family had wished for this is no judgment zone on the outside the families are marked by the stigma of extremism here there's an outlet for all the built up grief and shame and I think that's the most comforting thing is to know that you can talk to someone and not be judge that which a loved one deity but to say you know what we we hear you and we're here for a listening ear if you need a hook you know and that's what we're about when I say we are a big family for years they've worked behind the scenes with tech companies academics anybody trying to understand extremism this year though they're getting louder more visible they're in Washington pushing for bipartisan support to reframe extremism it's more than a national security issue they say it's a public health crisis one that affects ordinary families we've all been neglected we've all been hurt we've all been manipulated That's Chris Buckley a former Klansman he's one of the newest members some of us went one way some of us lost some of us sitting up a different direction but we all ended up here for a reason Chris is here because his wife Melissa decided she wouldn't let hate swallow up her family she could no longer watch her 4 year old to the White Power salute trying to be like his dad she'd had enough it was actually you know just a star of the moment thing our Winona gave Oh and. How do you get your spouse or loved ones out of a hiker Melissa found an email address for an ex-con had named our no Mackay lists he's well known in the world of former extremists and he works closely with parents for peace dish on the dark you know I can email him tell my stories do what he says and next thing I know he responded and I was like Ok I just opened a can of worms for ourselves are no flew to the family's home in Georgia for an intervention Chris was not happy in fact he was furious but Melissa stood her ground she gave her husband the love of her life. To meet him I looked at him one out why aren't I was there not animosity just here Joyce. You stay and man the kids are gone it took about 7 months but Chris got out of the clan he doesn't want to gloss over how hard it was leaving was like kicking an addiction when you're coming off of hate and extremism it's the same process like you've got to have a support group you've got to have a network through parents for peace he's already doing intervention work of his own he says it's small atonement for all the hate he's put into the world the kind of hate that was on display in Charlottesville Virginia and 2017 a white supremacist rammed his car into a crowd and killed 32 year old Heather higher Chris wasn't there for the rally but he still takes personal responsibility for the death I carry that were never a day whether I was in Charlottesville in that corner or not that's my life that I carry because I might not have been driving the car but I push the narrative so I care. Ok so if I would sit here to table and I want to hear from the Congress tomorrow and I would tell them that I asked them what are they doing the trick for . The next morning parents for peace members filed through security at the Capitol they're all dressed up gazing at the cavernous halls they need a Congress member pose for pictures of not everybody. When they visit it's in the early days of the impeachment inquiry the Capitol is in a frenzy but this little group still manages to pack a room for a talk about extremism even congressional staffers who come for their free food and abstain and buttoned up Washington these stories are rare and riveting it's been 7 years involved strong way decent lives even before I was a leader of these groups I was an organizer that's Arna the guy who helped Chris leave the k.k.k. Arno is imposing tall blond tattooed but he's got an easy going surfer dude vibe it's hard to imagine him in his racist days creaming into a mike as the lead singer in a white power metal band he was all in but then he got hooked on a popular t.v. Show Hello behind how Jerry the cyclones life was instrumental in my teacher wrong it was that early ninety's like much of America are no Love the show but there's a problem Jerry Seinfeld's Jewish and our no McKayla was an anti-Semitic white nationalist exactly Grover it worked out there they are insulated table for rather the right side to all aspire to we because if I did it was a Black Watch all the way or what these people with that would really be a race traitor or put it they would settle him or 2nd birthday before he could leave it over asked to watch there are news on the other side of his battle with hate He's relaxed at ease talking about it now for others the pain is fresher they look uncomfortable being gawked at by Hill staffers The only time the parents for peace. Amber seemed truly relaxed is back at the hotel when they're all together that aren't of an invisible war you know I'm like normal you know I'm normal because everybody else has their own there's something right that's happening and now we just we join each other know again moving shape a former Islamist extremists it happens to be his birthday. His face lights up when the other surprise him with the cake. The former Klansman and wife the mothers whose sons were recruited by ISIS the father whose son is in prison for life they're all saying. To. 'd n.p.r. News Washington. The holidays have become peak time for binge watching Christmas movies online something streaming services have made fiendishly easy to do but there was a time you had to work for your binge you remember that you had to rent or borrow tapes yes tapes or D.V.D.'s from shops in libraries to make it happen you might think that all of that is dead in the age of streaming almost everything when you want on Netflix or Hulu but not so un stream of all movies live and all recommended in a column called an Struble in the stranger a weekly newspaper in Seattle Joining us now from w. In Seattle are Chase burns and Jasmine kind of who write the column welcome Hello altogether doubt. Still what are those of us who have forsaken tapes and D.V.D.'s missing out on Well we started this column because we were really interested in what the limits of streaming services were there are so many streaming services and the United States some people estimate up to 300 streaming services it's giving me so much from just knowing that and we assume that there is this limitless content out there but there really isn't most of the streaming services have less than your average blockbuster would have and so we started this because we were interested in what movies were being left out and there are still plenty of places including public libraries where people can still rent or borrow movies and millions of people actually still do this why do you think that is is it this idea that it actually is satisfying to go and just kind of let yourself wander and see what you discover Yeah and I think it's also you know Netflix d.v.d. Is still around and it's used by 2700000 people and a lot of those people live in rural areas because broadband access isn't uniform across the country and I think it's also used by people on the coast that have great connectivity that yeah like you said don't just want to pull from the small library of things that are available online. This is the season. It has really become all about the Hallmark Christmas movies or those that are adjacent to that you know the romance with the Santa hats in the snow and I'm addicted to it can we scratch that itch or that's streaming we actually totally can we are fortunate in Seattle we live next to the largest physical media library in the world it's called scarecrow video it's a nonprofit they have a massive section of holiday movies that we were going through and yeah we certainly have some recommendations as well Gallo I want to hear them so my 1st recommendation would be the Sonny and Cher comedy hour you might remember it was on from the early seventy's tell about $74.00 and for my time but no one as well so Sonny and Cher never released a holiday album together but they do have 3 Christmas shows that are excellent and they were compiled to a d.v.d. This nature Comedy Hour Christmas special to be the rule you know. This stuff I wish I knew and I recently watched it and what I loved about it was just how flamboyant and loud the costumes are incredible Sheraton's out and it's like giants for Coach Bernadette Peters is there so I'd definitely solidly recommend watching that if you can get your hands on the d.v.d. Right Jasmine my We're going to Sion in the same way that die hard as a Christmas movie I am also you going to use less than 0 as a Christian home hold that is a really cheery one. But I think it's a really great story you know adapted from a brat Easton Ellis novel it follows you know these famous faces from the eighty's Andrew McCarthy Robert Downey Jr Jamie Grant's James Spader Wright and Andrew McCarthy play someone who's coming home for the Christmas holidays to kind of find his friends from high school and really bad right when you're just sure your friendship and I want to see. You're stopping it's like say something for Cesc which. And it's it really kind of interesting exploration about the way that relationships change between people over time especially the kind of come together for this holiday season so what do you think this does for us though in this in this age where you know we may not know what we want to see and it just kind of pops up on the screen yeah I recently heard a video store clerk talk about how when you go into a video store when you go into a library you can really begin to develop a relationship with your taste so when you're sitting in front of a screen and they're recommending really what everyone else is watching it's sort of easy to fall into that rhythm but when you go into a video store if you're fortunate enough to do so or if you go into a library and talk to a library and you're able to sort of understand what you're interested in and you know when I walk into a video store I'm surprised by what I'm attracted to and I think that that relationship is really valuable. That's Jasmine kind make and chase brands from the stranger thank you so much thank you thank you. And that's Share This is Weekend Edition from n.p.r. News b.j.
