Police shot and killed 25 yearold market bivins during a domestic disturbance call at the valley high apartments ,just off edgewood road nw. Raelynn finn returned home to her apartment for the first time just this afternoon. Finn says shes still healing from stab wounds, a broken jaw and ruptured ear drum. She also says police had to shoot bivins because he was stabbing her right in front of them. Her couch and started stabbing me in the fact. Did you know he had a knife . I saw it in his hand but i was trying to run when i saw the officers. Finn says the cedar rapids officers shot bivins twice during the attack. They also used a taser 3 times after that because he still wouldnt quit his attack. Reports surfaced this morning suggesting that waterloo has asked police chief dan trelka to resign. Out of town and no city official has been able to confirm the reports with tv9. The waterloo Cedar Falls Courier today cited sources who said trelka told a small number of officers hed been asked to leave. The Waterloo Police department has come under recent critiism after several payouts from Excessive Police force lawsuits. This video also recently surfaced showing a waterloo officer verbally and physically assaulting a suspect following a chase. The Department Also payed one teenager in a separate case not to talk about what happened to him. A v officer has pleaded not guilty to an assault charge in connection with a road rage incident in june. Lieutenant corbin payne also waived his right to a speedy trial. Court documents show lieutenant payne said another driver cut him off in waterloo. The documents show he then hit the other vehicle and grabbed the driver. The department put payne on administrative leave. A former cedar rapids substitute teacher accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student went to jail today. But she was only there herself in to the linn county jail, and bonded out. Her hearing is set for exactly 2 weeks from today. A judge issued a warrant for her arrest yesterday, saying she violated her nocontact order with the victim. She pleaded not guilty earlier this month to a charge of Sexual Exploitation by a school employee. Haglin admitted to the relationship, which involved sex, to tv9, earlier this year. The Cedar Rapids School district says administrator s mishandled the initial investigation. Washington High School Principal mike johnson, and the School Districts hr director, jill cirivello, all resigned as a result. A federal judge has dropped a tribal leaders protesting a pipeline that would go from north dakota through iowa to illinois. This comes after the company Dakota Access sued the Standing Rock sioux construction. The judge today said he expects lawful protests here on out.
