We know that yesterday morning the fbi said it would be irresponsible to call it terrorism and late yesterday after they had access to the cell phones to this couple they figured out the isis connections using the alias now expect theyll find somewhere that farook himself has done a similar pledge. Authorities in Johnson County say training for situations involving active shooters has almost become routine for Law Enforcement. Sheriff Lonny Pulkrabek says everyone in his department trains at least once a year for these situations. The county also obtained a mine resistant ambush protected vehicle, or mrap, last year. Pulkrabek says Mass Shootings like the one in San Bernardino show why more Law Enforcement agencies are getting armored vehicles. Its unfortunate that theres a need for such a thing in local Law Enforcement in todays world, but it shows that there is a need. Johnson county has used the mrap on at least two occasions. Daron whitey r rner has pleaded guilty to one assault charge stemming from a fight, while a judge has dismissed the other charge. The judge ordered rubner yesterday to pay a 500 dollar fine. Thats for assaulting Charles Russell at whiteys bar and grill on july 3rd. The assault happened after russell brought his dog into whiteys bar and grill. Russell claimed it was a service dog, and rubner asked for proof. That led to an arguement. Crashes between amish buggies the rise lately, and the Buchanan CountySheriffs Office worries the trend will continue. They say with fewer hours of daylight, drivers are spending more time in the dark when its harder to see the buggies. Last friday, the Sheriffs Office responded to a crash west of hazleton. They say thats where a car hit a bugug with 7 people inside at about 45 to 50 miles per hour. No one was hurt, including the horse. This is the third crash to involve a car and buggy in the county since mid october. 59 45 we typically tell individuals who are traveling along those roadways to keep your highbeams on as long as possible and it lets you see a lot further distance down the road and youre going to see those placards. In this crash on november 18th, investigatoto cited the buggy driver for not having the required lighting device. No serious injuries from this incent, either. Policicdidnt know if anyone was n the building at the time. Travelers will soon be able to get to the new terminal at the dubuque regional airport. The airport now has more than six Million Dollars in federal funds to build an access r rd. The city built a stateof theart terminal about a half mile south of the current one. But its been sittinempty for almost a year. Now, officials are building an access road from highway 61. Officials say they plan to open the terminal to travelers sometime next year. Inde the terminal, directors recently installed the new baggage claim system and put in the new jet way. Work on this access road started last july when the federal Aviation Administration gave them the money. When the weather gets better in the spring they get to work on the rest of the project.
