We came down here, blocked off traffic to make the statement that this is not the america that we want to live in chanting and waving signs the protest turned dangerous when they made their way down dubuque street during rush hour traffic. The protestors didnt stop. They made their way to interstate 80 and blocked traffic heading east bound. This woman wants to remain anonymous but was driving one of the cars blocked in front. it was scary because i dont know how i stopped that fast but it was like within a few feet of these people just came out and there were three lanes of traffic they all got stopped evidently its a get your voice out there and make a statement because otherwise people arent going to listen. Its one thing to march around downtown and block off a little bit of traffic , its another thing to block off a major highway. The protestors stopped after about 15 minutes, but said they would be back. Iowa city police made no arrests and no one was injured in the protest. Stopping traffic is however illegal. Authorities say on october 30th, medics found a seven month old boy in respiratory distress at a home in indianola. He died at a des moines hospital the next day. Police say bittner lived with the babys father. A judge set her bail at 500 thousand dollars. Today people gathered in iowa city to dedicate the new Childrens Hospital. Police say the man claimed he was angry from his stay there and started to stab rushed to the building in homestead, near pittsburgh this afternoon. In boone county, iowa, authorities used ropes to drag three protesters out of a 30 inch pipe along the pipeline. They crawled 50 to 100 feet into the pipe about two yesterday morning. Police pulled them out yesterday afternoon. They face charges of trespassing and interference with official acts. And in north dakota today, law officers arrested 30 protesters who shut down a state highway. The incident happened around construction workers. This is video of previous protests there.
