The Sheriffs Office says the crash happened saturday night at sawyer and Jordans Grove roads. Investigators say a pickup crashed into the car that heiderscheit was driving. Mcintosh was a passenger in the pickup. We also know the name of the man who died after three vehicles struck him in johnson county. The state patrol says jordan engbretson, of iowa city, was walking on highway 218 on october in the northbound lanes hit him. He died at the scene. He was 25. Cedar falls says the city has fixed some road problems that the recent flooding caused. But areas in the northern part of the city are still that area was also hit hard in the 2008 flood. Kcrg tv9s phil reed has more on why the city says it cant build a levee to protect the northern part of the city. Workers are still trying to pump flood waters out of the north cedar elementary playground in cedar falls. The water here got as high as seven feet during the flood in september its a different story than what it was weeks, ago, you can actually walk on the playground, and sit on the benches, but theres still a lot of work that needs to be done here. A levee was built to keep the downtown area dry, but mayor jim brown says a study done two decades ago showed building a levee there would cost more than the areas value. He says there are no plans to move people out of the wet and can manage that risk whether its insurance or if they do their own management of that risk, its not as if the city can just go grab it. The city says it will provide immediate protection to the area for up to a 40 year zone will have to wait a little longer for the city to pick up their sandbags. The contractor the city hired to do the work wasnt ready to go today. So the city says the pickups will now start early wednesday on the far Northwest Side of cedar rapids. The city expects itll take about three weeks to get all the sandbags people have put out at their curbs. One woman was still moving sandbags today, and said shes happy about the delay. This way we dont miss out. Its onla thats my understanding the city is asking people to their sandbags in the public rightofway along their front curb, in the street on lightly traveled streets, or on any portion of a driveway. The city will not take sandbags that are in an alley. And make sure theyre out by wednesday, because theyre only coming by once to pick them up. The Iowa Department of transportation is partnering with a company to i380. This is all part of an effort to appeal to selfdriving car researchers. The Mapping Company is called here.
