That umber has mooe than doubled in the past five years. But finding a solution to this heroin epidemic wont be easy. I think there needs to be greater awareness, i think the fact that were having this interview is very good because a lot of time people dont know whhs happening unless its happening directly to them. Police say awareness has led to some results locally. The Johnson Couty Drug Task Force put a bigger emphasis fighting heroin after the up tick in deaths last year. So far in 2015 only one person in Johnson County has died from a heroin overdose. Unfortunately it usually takes someone dying before we are aware of a certain change or a certain distributor, and often times wii those cases well track that backwards and try and get to the dealer. Police say this type of ddg abuse also presents problems on the streets with more people trying to drive.
