In waterloo, cleanup efforts are also underway as the cedar river is pulling back. On wednesday, the city started picking up sandbags that people are putting out at the curb. Jordee police are confident at this point in their investigation that it was an unintentional shot that killed a 13 year old girl. And that incident happened right behind me in the 800 block of 15th street southeast. The 13yearold boy faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, carrying a weapon, and interference with official acts. His name has not been released. Police do not know how the boy had access to a gun. Authorities say theyre working to determine why the gun was fired. 16 34, we just dont know because the young person that has been charged has not told us and we dont have enough information to confirm how it was fired. Jordee now the weapon that was used has not been found by police. Authorities say if you see it dont touch it and call 911 immediately. In cedar rapids, jordee kalk, police South Carolina now say the teen suspected of shooting at an Elementary School, shot and killed his father. Thats he went to the school and shot 2 students and a the boys grandparents found his father dead in his home close to the South Carolina Georgia State line. At the townville Elementary School, witnesses say the teen jumped a fence, firing shots while running onto the playground. Authorities say an unarmed volunteer firefighter took down the shooter and held him until deputies showed up. They say a call from their grandson alerted his grandparents. They went to his home and they live just about 100 yards away to see what was going on because they couldnt understand why he was crying on the phone or make sense of it. When they go into the house, officials are not releasing the teens name or age. One boy remains in Critical Condition today. A teacher and another student were treated and released. In urbandale, at least one School District is choosing not to do active shooter drills with its students.
