And that could impact your property taxes. He says system issues means the system wont produce a report he can approve. Cities, townships, and School Districts use the report to determine their yearly budgets. If that number is lower than the previous year, it could raise taxes. Miller says people have inquired about the system, and he wants to be upfront dont like it myself, very upset about it, doing what we can do to fix it, well get it fixed as soon as we can, use the numbers from last year until we can get you the numbers for this year. The linn county board of supervisors approved the new system in 2010. They say its not only a computer issue, but state law changes, retirements, and new tax districts all contribute to the problem. Miller says he does not know when the report will be released, but the office is working around the clock to fix the issue. Construction crews will work on busy roads near the site of a New High School in North Liberty. City leaders say they plan to add a roundabout at the intersection of dubuque street and North Liberty road. They also plan to widen dubuque street and add turn lanes. They say the work is necessary to make the area safer before Liberty High School opens in the fall of 2017. I think theres always some hesitation for roundabouts, they have a Bad Reputation for whatever reason, but studies show theyre safer, that more efficiently and thats really what we need. This video from the city shows what planners believe the infrastructur e around the high school will look like. The results of a special census last fall will help North Liberty get more funding for Road Construction projects like this.
