But theyre really looking k12 Education Funding as their top priority. You might remember that last year, lawmakers went several weeks past their deadline on coming to an agreement on that issue. And it finally ended with governor branstad d toing the 55. 7 Million Dollar agreement the legislature finally came to. Representative dave jacoby says democrats and republicans will ned to sort of re learn how to Work Together on the issue. Weve dug quite a deep hole four or five years. So now we have to make an incremental improvement. And incremental to me means at least 3 percent allowable growth. Jacoby also wants to see t t state create more incentives for teacher Leadership Programs and overall teacher quality. Plenty of people are using computers, or picking out books to read during the week. So the Cedar Rapids Public Library is doing all it can make sure they can always have some sort of access. We have worked extensively to look at the cuts we needed to make, and to try and have the least impact possisie on our patrons. We did a lot Extensive Research and study. Research on door counts, computer usage, program attendance, and more. That research concluded both locations should close at 8 oclock on weeknights, and only be open six days a the ladd library will close on saturdays, sundays. We tried to choose hours that would be the least impactful of our patrons but we certainly understand any someone unhappy, they certainly dont make us happy. Andrea rauch recently started spending more time at the library with her son, christian. It allows them time to socialize with other childre and they have a lot of activities at this library since its opened up a lot more that we havent even discovered yet. Long time ago, when you would come and check out books or get a quiet place to read, now its more of an active environment. Rauch says despiteteuts, they will still continue to support the library. And the library says it will fight to do the same for them. We know that people are using our libraries more than they ever have before, we just have to meet those demands with less money than weve had before.
