Recently unsealed search warrants are giving us a possible motive for the shooting. 20 yearold Andrea Farrington died in the shooting this past june. She was working at a kiosk for the Iowa Childrens Museum at the Coral Ridge Mall near the food court. Police say 22 yearold Alexander Kozak shot and killed farrington in the middle of a crowded mall on a friday night. But police and prosecutors nener said what lee to the shootiig until now. According to those documents Alexander Kozak claimed to be in a relationship with Andrea Farrington. But on the night of june 12th he says she texted him to break things off thats when kozakaccor ding to the documents quote ssapped. Investigators say kozak went back to his apartment in North Liberty to get his gun and papak a bag of clothes before returning to the mall and gunning down farrington in front of dozens families on a friday nig. Last seen running out by shields the service entrance, shields the service entrance. According to the documents kozak got on the interstate and started illinois minutes after the shooting. Around west branch he threw his phone containing the alleged breakup text out the window. Soon after a trooper spotted kozak near the i80 truck stop innalcott thenen followed him for 9 miles before backup arrived and kozak was stopped and arrested near the quad cities. But instead, the resolution would only prohbit firearms on city property. This is the second time the council has looked at the ban, since 2013. Its become an extremely hot topic. The mayor said Council Members have received more than 300 messages on the m mtter. She said d ome were quote inappropriate and foul. Last night, the resolution faced more stiff opposition. During public comment, opponents called the ban dangerous, that it would ma pubc spaces unsafe. The safeguards are still in place. He applicants still have to come ttthe Law Enforcement center to show their identifications and their training certificates.
