New this morning, some students in the Waterloo CommunitySchool District had to go to the hospital after crash in a school van. This happened around 5 00 pm yesterday. Waterloo popoce responded to a 2vehicle crash at the corner of franklin street and east 8th street, just east of downtown and near the old Expo High School building. Rearended the school van at the intersection. Police told a tv9 crew at the scene that ambulances took 6 people to the hospital. Investigators say several of those injured were students. It happened at her home on old marion road ne. He faces up to 50 years in prison. Police say he admitted beating his 68 year old mother at the time, but he claimed it was selfdefense. He was on trial for first degree murder, but the jury found him guilty on the lesser charge. Members of a Charitable Organization in iowa city say someone stole 2 flags and some rigigng from outside their building. Members of the fraternal order of eagles noticed that a us flag and a fraternal order of eagles flag were missing tuesday night. The groups building is on highway 1, a block from riverside drive. New cameras installed in the Jones County Sheriffs Office prisoner transport van are helping deputies keep an eye on offenders. Officer William Porter is the first of six officers to go to trial. Gray died while in Police Custody in april. Andrew spencer reports this trial is expected to wrap up by the end of next week. Officer William Porter testified that he knew freddie gray from his patrols of the west baltimore neighborhood. He said, quote, freddie gray and i werent friends, but we had a mutual respect. When one of porters lawyers asked if he was sorry gray died in april, a week after officers put him in the back of a police van shackling him but not putting him in a seat belt. During the ride, somehow, gray suffered a broken neck. The van made six stops during his 45minute ride to the police station. Prosecutors allege porter should have called for a medic after the fourth stop, when gray asked for help. Porter testified that he didnt realize gray needed immediate medical assistance until the last stop. They also say farook might have plotted an attack with the man accused of providing him assault rifles used in the shooting.
