At the end of fiscal year 2015 they were 139. 7 billion dollars. Down a little from last year but still the third highest level of ag exports in history for the u. S. The Us Foreign Agricultural Service says collecting data on exports are important because 95 percent of the worlds population lives outside the us. Theres a growing world middle class. And there will be an estimated nine point six billion people by 2050. Looking down the road finding ways to improve exports could help. Years and years ago, exports werent as big a part of American Farm income as they are right now. Now they represent on average 20 percent of u. S. Farm income. Every other row of soybeans grown in this country is exported. One day worth of every weeks dairy production is exported. So its important for us to have this data at our fingertips. But not all commodities are seeing better deals. Us soybean exports for this marketing year are forecast down from last year. Because of more competition with brazil. This morning, Des Moines Police are investigating a double homicide. They responded to a call for assistance in the 2400 block of hull avenue around 7 oclock last night. Kccitv in des moines reports neighbors say they didnt hear anything. And they said they didnt know something was going on until police got there. But Police Confirmed there was a shooting and detectives are now investigating. Coalburning power plants are targets in the push for cleaner air. But those plants also carry risk for ground water.
