Back off to the south, west and south well see at warning extended as well that warning extends all the way down that line that we talked about as we head to the next hour, hour and a half the storms will evolve and move through out of the tv9 viewing a aa well continue see if we have any storm damage reports. Weve had some damage in the western part of the state and if you have damage reports share them with the newsroom postthem on the Facebook Twitter page as well keep safe you have damage reports wed like to pass it on to the National Weather service as well. I. Ill bounce back and forth. Potential rotation Near West Branch im still seeing it. So at this point youre under Severe Thunderstorm Warning. You still need to be in your safe place of course. These winds could be highgh as about 70, 60 to 70 miles an hour as they move in here. Cedar rapids area still seeing thunderstorm reat is ovov with. Now behind this line of storms there have been some gusty winds that have kicked in not associated with thunderstorms thats the behind the storm situation weve talked about the past couple of days. At this point the maiai focus will be on the line of storms rolling through. So this is coming through mount vernon right now. Just moving into cedar county so west branch youre in the thick of it also some heavy downpours from this. Street flooding in a few places earlier thats not going to last very long thankfully. Tipton, youre going to be having the storm coming in here oh probably in the next put distance on here see about 5 45 or so. About 15 minutes, tipton youll have the leading edge of the storm coming in and the front end of it is where the strongest winds are located and as we get closer to west liberty iowa highway 70 the front edge moving in that area. Again as i look close here at west branch im some rotation mainly just to the northeast of the town at this point well take a look here. You see the kink west, rather southwest of cedar valley. Im show you with my marker here indicating where exactly im talking about. So kind of goes in there where i have that arrow. Leads to potential rotation coming in here, those will be quick spipiup in nature may be a brief tornado occurring west branch and a wind threat coming in here identify a few streets this is going to be affecting. So 280th street. 270th street. 260th street and 250th moves into cedar rapids value. And eureka avalley andfranklin and garfield avenue and farther to the east hayes avenue would be other ones were watching as that moves to the northeast and about 50, 55 Miles Per Hour. With the systemsmoving rough thats why youre not hearing about flash flooding, a quarter to threequarters from many areas as the storm moves through theres some additional rain threat well behind the system overnight and into the Morning Hours thats the area of pressure thats tracking through the area with the low tracking through the area well also notice some very powerful wiwis developing behind the system. Were looking over with gusts over 50 and 25 to 55mile per hour. Thats the storms in e area. You talk about a curve in the small radar, look at the curve were seeing in the large radar, just indicating that larger storm system thats out there that will be bringing us some of those stronger winds and on the ackside if yoyo look very carefully on the left side of your screen theres colder air moving in as well and youll notice west of i29 theres a little bit of snow that may be mixing in, that wont be moving into the tv9 viewing area at all, but there is some powerful wiwi and some cooler conditions that by friday will cool us back down into the low to mid 40s for highs. Ive got a note back from the weather service. Theyre seeing the rotation on there thinking itssomething theyre g gng to keep their eye on not planning for a Tornado Warning for that at this time. Theyre thinking as that continues to the north that tornado threat starts to subside so good news to see. We saw some of that rotation with the storm in linn county about highway 30 or so and this particular storm going to approach that area as well. We talked earlier in the storm coverage long ago how about after the sunset some of the energy would subside and were starting to see the trend a little bit where we havent had the tornado reports necessarily. Wind damage reports came down a little bitit andexpected wind well. Not to say the coast is clear anytime you have a skwil mile an hour wind gust that causes damage if you have a large branch fall in your living room youre sitting in it thats obviously a prprlem. Keep in mind the Severe Weather threat continues mainly across the far eastern towns at this point and you mentioned just a few minutes ago, too, the strong gusty winds coming in behind these storms not associated with thunderstorms thankfully theres gusty storms continuing into tonight and tomorrow that will come with some clouds and even clear sky tomorow afternoon. One other area that ive noticed now seeing a little less of a ththat movinginto an area of more stable air is along north of highway 20 right now. That area for a period of time seeing powerful storms across grundy rdin into blacac hawk county, but now youll notice more stable air to the north its not as warm there, clouds throughout the day and as a result this area right now the air more stable and as a result youre still seeing some showers move through, rumble or two of thunder but generally some moderate to heavy rains at times not that Severe Threat. So thats definitely some good news as well. Those north of highww 20 we know youre getting thunderstorms were focused on the Severe Threat where the injury would be. So areas north of highway you have some heavy rain, sure some gusty rains pea sized hail but nothing alarming or concerning from a damage or threat of injury standpoint. With the viewers sharing some pictures with us and meterology chris havely d britley in our weather labs had some hail. A little bit of hail. Not a whole lot. Not a whole lot of reports here. But just small pea sized from iowa city and hills both report there and flooding concern of urse. A lot of rain falling in a short amount of time moving out of here very quickly. Youll get what weesee ponding on the roadways and that will be the extent of it. But this is sent in from tracy curt in vin ton. Thats all weve seen. Send in your photos, facebook, twitter, instagram and of course weather at kcrg. Com. Wed love to see what youve got in store for us. We certainly thank you for connectctg with us as well thatsshere you help us cover the storms moving through. We dont have any Tornado Warnings in effect right now across eastern iowa with that being said we still have powerful thunderstorms that are rolling through just beginning to enter southWestern Areas of jones county and cedar county far down to the south. Well stick with this line as it continues to moveacross the tv9 viewing area, but i woul say that if theres some people liststing in the newsroom want to get some contact about our 6 00 news well continue to watch the storms evolve and as they move farther off to the east theyll certainly be moving out of our viewing ea and then we can get to a newscast at 6 00. So newsroom listening would love to hear what the plan is as we head through the next hour. In the meantime well run down the locations that will be impacted. Moving through jones county starting to exit linn county. That of course will be off close to highway 30, wabeak and iowa interchange fairview stone city at 5 41. Moray 5 43 and jackson at 5 43 an imosa and hiddenburg 5 53. Up toward the monticello and camp courageous 5 58. Center junction at 555. Hail at 5 54. Oxford junction at 5 58. Well pan just a little bit farther and this starts to move deeper into cedar county. Focus on cedar county particular storm track moving off towards the east 50th Miles Per Hour could cause wind gusts. The elisa exit at5 40. Rochester day field 5 42. Iowa 38 interchange interstate 542. Tip pin itself 942 as i mentioned bennett at 5 51. Sun berry 5 53 and moving farther to the east of west liberty and moscow expecting arrival time at 5 44 for the front edge of those orms which is where the leading, excuse me, the edge of the wind is, its not happening deep within the rain its right on the front edge of these storms as they come rolling in here. Extended from jones and cedar counties in the tv9 viewing area. Heavy storms. A threat well continue to watch that spring ville area youre seeing heavier rains and frequent lightning those in animosos youll see poweweful iowa 151 interchange. Wind gusts. Leading edge coming in at 5 374 minutes ago and that line is already through. So those already. You have strong winds coming in, animosa along highway. 55 Miles Per Hour as this comes in here. The highway 54, near animosa 20th street. E street county home road up that direction. Also 145th street north of animosa line of strong winds and back a little farther off east closer to olin area you can expect to have strong winds i would say just put this up. Thats when the leading edge is going to be coming in here. E 45 east of. Newport8road 80th street, 95th street near highway 64. And expect to see some strong winds as that rolls in. Some good news tornado watch is now cancelled for lack hawk, breemer, butler davis, hardin, tama. Along west of highway 63 that tornado watch has been cancelled and it will continue to trim as the line of storms continues off the east fairly quickly. Thats good news because as the storm continues to move through behind it were not seeing e sevevee weather and without the need north severe storm watches as we head through the nighttime hours. I want to tell you a wind advisory is out all across the state of iowa. That will be in effect later tonight and through the day tomorrow maybe extend into friday as we head into some very powerful winds moving in behind these this storm stem. As the storm is passing through youll notice two things, northwest winds building across the western part of the state, and winds up to 30 Miles Per Hour without right now anything in the way of thunderstorms back off near spencer and sioux city. Fusion one youll be able to see the winds. There you go. Now were expecting west northwest winds theyll be powerful wind gusts back off to 40, 40 Miles Per Hour thats the second part of the orm after the sesere threat is one, the winds movee in as we head through the overnight hours. Pinpoint doppler over the past two hours to be winding down prettysoon for much o o the tv9 viewing area dubuque area youll be last in line for the potential Severe Weather threat. It looks like in any event time it out for you, leading edge of any potential strong winds will be closer to 6 156 30 in the dubuque area. Not under any severe storm warning at this time its mething well keep an eye on as this line continues tolift off to the northeast. Got a report now from Law Enforcement from mile northwest of gilbertville into the National Weather service, large tree down in the 5200block of gilbertville road that came from Black Hawk County emergency management. Thats when it estimated to have occurred. Wind damage now being reported across portrtons of eastern iowa. Certainly watch out. As the storms pass through and are out of the area you may be heading out yet for an event or mething thats happening tonight. Have moved ththugh basically from waterloo points to the south could be damage in areas thats not been reported yet some trees or branches down in some areas thats somet\ing you nt to watch out for as well as yourere going to travel across eastern iowa yet as we head through the evening and nightmare hours. Chris havely you had a report of a strong wind gust. Message on Facebook Fromm a gentleman john up in the northeast side of cedar rapids. And it measures wind gusts when those storms did roll through that area 65 miles per ho whwhh of course meets the threshold for severe thunderstorms thats a verification right there. Some of those strong wind gusts reported well be looking at those certainly to see what was happening as far as the storms move through to see exactly what the speed was. 65mile per hour wind gust, 58 Miles Per Hour. 58 Miles Per Hour gust, line of storm earlier as it moved through eastern iowa. Not out of the realm of possibility. In fact i can run down a couple of the reports that weve had. Had a 75mile an hour estimmed southwest of Oxford Johnson county, west of corralville also 70mile an hour gust estimated near 60 miles near iowa city. Had 75mile an hour estimated guest near mar ll and short time ago. And theres been strong winds out of this and wre going to continue to watch that wind potential as these storms roll st particularly i would say throughastern jones county d much of cedar county. Looks like tipton youve gone through probably the worst part of the storm now as you see some of the red is now through. So the heaviest rain is heading you through tipton strongess winds on the leading edge. Winds will be backing down for a bit for the time being, picking up speed with nonthunderstorm in a while. Up towards clearance right along iowa 38 is the leading eded of the strongest wind, Clarence Louden youll be seeing those strong winds arrive here shortly. Ananosa near strongest wind but the worst of the storm is passing off to your east and is going g beheading out to center junction. So well see some of the strong winds arrive here in the next 10 to 15 mutes. Were seeing the dark brick reds seeing some of the heaviest rains particularly along highway 38 as we can see tipton down. Lightning within the storm as well lets take a look at the lightning loop as weve headed moving through the past several hours and youll notice that the energy in the storms themselves Still Holding pretty good in some spots. Thankfully we havent had that continued rotation repeated in the storms as a result weve not had Tornado Warnings that have continued. We have had isolated Storms Energy is in the storm as a result guess what can happen. Tornado can happen once again. Now we have a new Tornado Warning that goes until 6 15 for cedar and jones county. Well take a look at this real quick. Well get ourselves reset. Im going to guess its the spot just north of tipton that was around the westbranch rea earlier. So we see that little blob north of the tipton area. A. So this storm is moving northeast at about 40 Miles Per Hour, located near tipton. So we wi put storm track on thisis and d how you exactlywhat direction its going. Northeast at about 40 Miles Per Hour would put it near clarence at 5 56. We have oxford mills at 6 07, Oxford Junction, wyoming, and millrock 6 17. Northeastern part of cedar county and ill back out a little bit here and also the far south eastern corner of jones county again that goes untill 6 15 this evening. Just had another report of some damage from winds, power lines snapped in half. That down near windfield, in henry county. Were hearing about some areas right now that are reporting some damage as those again storms have moved through the area and still across as we can see the south eastern east cenenal portion of thh state as they h hd toward the mississippi moving into some unstable air, unstable enough to keep the energy going as a result that Tornado Warning was issued. Again were looking at lightning as thth Tornado Warningng was issued and again it just showed that the energy is staying within these storms and thats likely the Tornado Warning that has been issued. The radio weather is going on in the back ground. A look at the storm a viewer in keystone some of the winds that were blowing through. Again, you just kind of look at the trees. That tree happens to have some leaves on it yet and you can see certainly some stronger winds that were moving through, n nice as you look behind that some reduced visibility because of the rain moving through. Have not heard of any damage reports in the keystone area. But certainly looks like some pretty powerful thunderstorm winds, particularly you can see kind of near that porch down the street, again, some of those sheets of rain. Very similar to what we saw from mark carlson a little bit earlier when he showed us that video as e storm was moving through the iowa city as well area as well. Thats why weve stayed on the air because all of our viewers are important. We still have to get you through areas of the tv9 viewing area d we remain on the air until the storm has passed ourr viewing area and all of our viewers are safe as that storm continues to move off toward the east and northeast. Right now the potential for the greatest potential now located northeast of pton south of clarence. So if you recognize any of these street names in those areas, one 80th, one 70th, one skwifth, one 50th. Rose avenue as well. Label a few more of the noror south roadways here. Quincy avenue. As well as ocean avenue. Heading out to spice ser avenue around the clarence area. Those are areas where. This is going to move to the area of northeast and northern parts of seed dar county and joneses county. Actually hail and Oxford Junction as the storm keeps moving off toward the north and east. Right now its located just to the southeast of clarence, as that storm rolls off to the northeast at about 40 miles perr hour, 45 Miles Per Hour. These storms will continue to move off to the east and as they move off to the east a quieter weather pattern for a short period of time will move in. Well get a break from the precipitation, and so a break from Severe Weather, lightning moving through the area as well as that Movement Continues to off to the east and eventually well see another und of some showers and storms me through the area. Lets take a little look. Heres how it looks on pinpoint futurecast rather. 10 00 the activity we see knew the sioux city pushes through the area and leaves light showers but the big thing we watch as we head through the overnight especially by thursday morning very powerful winds. Not from the severe sense that we see from thunderstorms, but from an area of low pressure moving through the area really, really winding the atmosphere up and releasing that energy and as a result of the Pressure Gradient thats out there some very, very powerful winds pushing through. We could see wind gustst overnight tonight into tomorrow 60 Miles Per Hour thats the back side of the storm system of whats to come as that storm moves through. Wanted to mention, got a eport from lets see om the National Weather service, a public report, couple miles east of halo, at 5 30. About 20 minutes ago, one to twoinch diameter winds broken off estimated about 60 Miles Per Hour winds as that storm keeps on moving off toward the northeast. Lets go over our tornado precautions. There is a tornado occurring in northeastern parts of cedar county, you will not be able to see itit comimig because obviously its dark outside and it will be wrapped within rain as well, go to your safe spot basement lowest level of your home is a good place to be underneath something sturdy, staircase, workrknch, if you have a bike helmet or any kind of helmet you can put on that would be a good idea otherwise pillows and blankets get the job done very well as well. Be in your tornado safe place, dont be expect to be able to see anything coming theyre moving quickly and there wont be any light to see anything coming on in here. Again pinpoint Doppler Radar shows the line of storms now moving through cedar county going to be moving into south eastern jonesescountyy looks like the potentially tornadoic part of the storm is going to be very near the town of clarence. If it doesnt pass over clarence its going to be awfully close to it passing over highway 30 here in the next couple of minutes at least. That Tornado Warning does continue. Report from the National Weather service says at 5 53 that stanwood if there is one coming through. Moving northeast at about 45 Miles Per Hour. This is going to be passing near the town of clarence, probably either in or just east of town by within a couple of miles as it progresses off towards the north and east. Well put a few more town names in here street names unless joe you wanted to say something. Ill put a few street names in there 130th, one 20th, vermont avenue. Taylor road. As we look farther to the east, vermont avenue. Northwest where this particular storm is coming into and arriving Oxford Junction here. Well put a storm track on here for you to give you an estimate of when exactly that will be coming in here. 45 miles an hour. Oxford mills at about 6 05, 6 06 up toward mon mouth 6 15 and baldldn 6 15 and buck horn 620. That would get us into the south eastern portions of Jackson County not currently in any kind of warning at this time. Now, north of that warning that youll see north of olen west of onslow as we head back towards monticello, still some pretty impressive radar echos coming through that area. Certainly something we definitely need to keep eye on, movement through jones county not quite in a Severe Thunderstorm Warning, but i would certainly be monitoring that as well. Those of you in wyoming system is going to be moving through your area and heading towawas Western Areas of Jackson County as well as southern areas of Dubuque County. Keep that in mind those of you in bernard the storms will be moving in your area and again if they can hold together their energy as they have, they will certainly be producing some powerful winds as they move through as well as some frequent lightning and some very, very heavy rain. On that northern edge, moving through northern jones county, heading off to the ortheast, scotch groveve about 556, that storm moves through. Camp courageous about 5 57. Walnut Acres Campground 5 57. Junction switch 5 57. Onslow 5 59,9, and ust issued as weve been talking about it a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for winds up to 60 Miles Per Hour for portions of delaware, dubuque, jackson and, yes, norththn areas of jonene countyy again, that is about the, oh, eastern half lets say the eastern half of delaware county. This would include probably not include the city of manchester but will include areas off toward the east. Farley certainly included and dyersville and rickersville and epward youre under a severe thunderstorm that continues including monticello and cascade, in effect until 7 00. Storms for winds up to 60 Miles Per Hour. That storm moving about 50 miles an hour, were mentioning when storms move this quickly doesnt take much for them to produce very strong wind gusts as they move on through. So this is not at all surprising. Looks like fartrtr north as they approach highway 20 its tornado threat is probably going to subside quite a bit. Looks like it will be mainly some potential wind damage as these come in here. Ybe some small hail, too, but looks like it will be morere wind and potential for street flooding as we had some rain leading up to this line of storms coming into the dubuque area some of the storm starting to pick up a little more as e line of rain heads in. Flooding in those areas downtown watch out for those winds as they come into southwestern Dubuque County the next few minutes next to cascade youre next in line. 30 to 45 minutes most of the area will be clear of the Severe Weather threat. Particularly those of you in jones as well as areas of cedar county right now those will be moving into jackson, clinton and scott county as that Movement Continues off to the east and northeast, some good news wev also had the tornado watch trimmed back a bit as ell. Theres whats currently in effect as you can see tornado watch officially until 9 00 im sure this will be trimmed back uooner still including dubuque, cedar rapids or storms or tornadoic producing storms have moved off to your east we wont have to worry about it there those still in dubuque as well as particularly jones and cedar county and points as we head towards the quad cities that threat remains and we want you to remember to stay safe and continue to monitor the weather as it moves through. I understand that we are going to the open of our 6 00 news then wellgive you an update on
