Luckily for most of them, they have been on other airlines and those at united have seen cancellations and delays. Some said they were even stranded at the airport. For United Airlines passenger kimmy and her husband, almost 24 hours after their flight was scheduled to land in tucson, they are still here in denver. Instead of leaving at 7 00, it was to leave at 8 00, then 9 00, then at 10 00, it disappeared. Reporter that is because desighsing crews were not able to handle the reporter they said they were forced to stand in line for help. We stood in line for three hours. When we got up, it was a nightmare. Reporter no flight connection was possible so they had no option but to wait for today paying for a hotel out of their own wallet. It was a quirk we were able to get a hotel because everything was booked. Reporter howard dean took to twitter in frustration it was described as the longest deicing delay of his career. Onethird of united flights were still delayed. Passengers just wanted to get home. I want to be in at a reasonable hour, my family is going to pick me up. New information on a deadly house fire in aurora. It was along east Seventh Avenue near delmar circle. It was sparked by an electric wednesday morning. A woman died and her son got life threatening injuries trying to rescue her. Two men responsible for a devastating wild fire in Boulder County have been sentenced. Jimmy suggs and Zachary Kuykendall got two years and four years probation. They failed to improperly put out a campfire when they illegally camped in nederland. It caused the cold ri and destroyed eight homes and burned more than 500 acres. This has been a rough week for the homeless in downtown denver streets. Tuesday, a cleanup sweep moved them out of the area. Cbs4 investigator Rick Sallinger has looked into the efforts to get the homeless into some housing. Rick . Reporter karen, this is true. According to the city, it costs them more to pay for services such as emergency rooms, detox, and jail for the homeless than apartments. So, it has a relatively new program called social impact bonds to finance money for homes for the homeless. With winter making a first appearance this scene has gotten worse. Tents and tarps provide the shelter on the sun sanctioned urban campground. We met josh lewis there. It is cold, but it is what you have to deal with when you are in a situation. You know, some people can help, reporter while the plight of the people here is visible, the efforts to get them off the street are less obvious. One of the programs provides parking lot apartments here at colorado boulevard and 40th. They partner with the coalition for the homeless and Mental Health center of denver to operate this program through social impact bonds investing than the alternative. Emergency room costs should go down. Reporter the rent covered through housing vouchers and a persentage of income from the resident if any. We know in are 6,000 people sleeping on the streets of denver in the metro area every night. And, to be able to house 250 of them giving us hope, but we know we have a long way to go. Reporter it may only be a few miles from here to here. But it is is a hoped hundreds of Homeless People will take. Some 65 people are now in that program. They hope to have 250 by the end of next year. There are some 6,000 homeless in denver, but we understand about 75 to 80 of them spend their nights in shelters.
