Jim, we want to boeing r point out right now, several crews on scene, from multiple Different Police officer agency, theyve been here all day keeping this area shut down. This whole incident happened just before 10 00 this morning, we did get a chance to talk to several of wirths neighbors, they say that martin wishth kept to himself, but they were aware of his eviction situation. One neighbor says he had several altercations with the police, where he felt the police were targeting him. Ful she adds that she knew wirth had the weapons in his home but shocked he would use them against the police. Things happen. You know, because the officers shouldnt have lost his life, there shouldnt be two officers in there wounded and i dont think martin should be dead. Reporter now, right now, the police are still investigating here at the scene. The bomb squad was here earlier with several team members sort of combing through what looked like his entire property, the police do say that there is no danger for residents who live in this area. Reporter in this video posted to youtube, wishth admitted not making payments to the Mortgage Company, saying they were a bunch of crooks. I did not pay mortgage to the bunch of crooks. Reporter park county records show he lost his property to his Mortgage Company in 2014. After failing to pay, more than 116,000, he owed on the iris drive home. In 2013, wirth filed this federal complaint against governor john hickenlooper, asking that the state foreclosure laws be repealed and the government officials be criminally charged for depriving him of his civil rights. A federal magistrate later threw the wirth case out of court. In 2014, wirth ran for state senate, facebook posting he called himself a high value target. And railed on police. Calling them a brutal impediment to human progress. Because i write such things, said wirth, cops want me dead. Last month, things seemed to come to a head. Park county arrested wirth january 20th for driving under restraint eluding the police. A judge signed this document, ordering the park county sheriff to evict wirth from his home. Break news at 6 30, the community of bailey is gathering at the platt Canyon Community church right now, to honor and remember Deputy Nate Carrigan. Deputy carrigan was killed in a shootout, while serving an eviction notice earlier today. The shooter was killed. Two other deputies were taken to st. Anthony hospital in lakewood. He and two other officers were gunned down as they served an eviction notice at a home in bailey. Video of the area of the scene this morning. Morning, deputies went to a home in the friendship ranch subdivision, that homeowner, 58yearold martin wirth went back inside and opened fire with a rifle. Killing deputy carrigan. The two other deputies were wounded. Deputy kolby martin is in Critical Condition. Captain mark hancock was treated and released at st. Anthonys central. Today, fellow officers remembered carrigan. More than 100 officers from the cbi, Jefferson County sheriffs office, and park county, are working this case. So theyre working steadily throughout the afternoon, and theyre going to go deep into the night.
