New, a state trooper survives a wild chase with a teenager. Their speeds topped 120 miles per hour. Our jamie leary is at the state patrol headquarters in golden with the very latest on jamie, good morning. Reporter good morning, britt. It was a teenager behind the wheel. He was doing everything he could to evade police overnight. At one point the chase became so dangerous that Law Enforcement had to call it off. This was just before 11 00 last night when the teen flew past a Georgetown Police officer. He was headed east on i70 going 110 miles per hour. The officer caught up to the reckless driver who was slowed down by traffic. Took off. That officer chased the silver accura which hit speeds of 120 miles per hour. The officer decided to end the chase, saying it was too dangerous to continue. But it didnt end there. About two minutes after the officer called off the chase, the suspect came upon an unsuspecting state patroller in his car and did the unthinkable. The driver attempted to do an amateur pit maneuver on the troopers vehicle, into the troopers vehicle, then fleeing past him. The trooper was able to recover his vehicle. The driver crashed here at the 239 exit, and fled on foot. Reporter fortunately after a short search they were able to locate the suspect. He did have minor injuries and a few warrants as well. We do know hes under 18, but not much more is available about the suspect. He was taken to the hospital for treatment, and then taken into custody. Golden, jamie leary, cbs4 news. Incredible story. The department of health in Washington State is investigating a growing cluster of polio like illnesses in colorado in 2014. Two of nine cases in washington are confirmed as a rare condition known as afm. Reporter 6yearold Daniel Ramirez was always healthy and happy. He died over the weekend, recently showing symptoms of afm. At this point his is not the two cases, a polio like disease. For us to have a cluster of nine that could be afm is concerned. I began to feel a tingling in my hands and pain in my neck. And within five minutes i couldnt walk. Reporter that same year, there were 120 cases in the united states. Childrens hospital colorado investigate. Reporter Infectious Disease doctors at childrens were the first to notice the increases, coincided with an outbreak of a respiratory virus. That virus has been circulating recently. Though not completely proven, this is a lot of supportive evidence a connection. Reporter but there are many viruses that have the potential to cause afm. The cdc says of september 89 people in 33 states were confirmed to have afm this year. Thats up from 21 cases last year. Front comes down into texas and then Southern New Mexico and at the end of the front theres off from the main flow in the atmosphere. What will happen over the next 24 to 48 hours is that low will move to the four corners, and it will spread much needed moisture over our state. For the mountains, light rain and snow likely from tomorrow night into saturday. Locations above 10,000 feet could see 2 to 4 inches of snow. Most of that accumulation will be during the day saturday. For the front range and eastern plains, light rain is possible.
