You're listening to the latest Weald news from the b.b.c. Good evening it's 1004 am Duncan lively with k.c.a.l. You news a new brush fire has broken out the sea evening in Ventura County it's called the Maria fire and Lancer Rosco is at the scene with the latest let's. Well I didn't mean Duncan boy this fire has really taken off we started off with something that was like just 100 acres and just the 1st 15 or 20 minutes went to 750 and now they're saying 4000 and then of course they did that estimate maybe 20 or 25 minutes ago so who knows what it's at now and the wind certainly not as powerful as what we had the last couple of nights but it's it's been enough to really spread this blaze I'm off alone a. Chemist's it won't rain which is basically up above Moore Park up in the foothills here and the fire is obscene it basically sort of 2 clients of it on both sides of the hill here and is trying to crest the hill putting up a lot of flames this is a lot of ranch company country up in here you know we've been hearing about evacuations we've been talking about evacuations and about 7500 people affected at this point $800.00 structures considered to be trend in there they're trying to do with this fire what they did with the fire at the easy science in the valley which is as the fire kind of took off they looked at you know where can we set up some defensible lines to stop this fire and keep it from getting just totally out of control so they're trying to keep in you know a blaze blaze in a box so to speak south of Highway $126.00 north of Los Angeles Avenue East a vineyard and west of Balcom Canyon and so that area is really affect the evacuation zone and so if you're in those areas and even if you haven't been ordered to evacuate but you know you feel uncomfortable it's time to make those preparations right now and certainly if you have received the evacuation orders it is time to do it we've heard from a lot of people you know via social media and you know other things like that people kind of wandering off start another place like that saying is this fire near me and because of the fact it's on a mountaintop it's been raining pretty mountains it does have that perception for people in Cameroon to I talked to some people in Cameroon you know the Gulf the golf course in the foothills up there and they were kind of concern to sit near us and it really isn't but because it's up at night because it's up on the hillside. It certainly gives that appearance and makes it appear a little bit scarier than it is even though it's actually miles away but firefighters up in this area that I'm in a lot of branches are and jets up in here and there's a lot of fire trucks here from different agencies and they're really focusing on structure protection and that's kind of a standard practice for Ventura County fire a lot of agencies with something like this is that they know they can't stop this by right night and so what they do is they go and they say Ok where are the structures what can we do to get people out and then what can we do to protect the structures and then during the day they can focus more on actually you know trying to hit the flames I have seen bulldozers working here in some of these hillsides some pretty brave folks because it's you know it's dark it's hard to see those roads but there's some bulldozers I've seen some helicopters flying in this area certainly because it's night they can't use air tankers but they are doing what they can with the aircraft they are doing what they can a bulldozer to try to cut some lines into some areas and basically keep the fire from jumping over to where the ranches are and as something Duncan has been mentioning With course evacuations in fact maybe Duncan we can get some of those evacuation spots again yeah is a band the Tory evacuation box if you will look at this way it's south of the 126 freeway it's north of Los Angeles Avenue East of vineyard and west of Balcom So that's kind of a box roughly to the south and southwest of Saturn Paul Lance I've also been looking at social media and we're seeing from multiple sources now that it looks like the north side of the fire up near Santa Paula has also actually becoming quite a bit more active here in the last half hour or so and apparently some additional units are being moved into that area as well don't have a lot of details on that we'll continue to keep an eye on that as we report further into the evening. Yeah it's it's kind of hard for me to tell because I'm basically on the opposite side of this point and so I've got the balance in between so I can see that it's very very active or I'm out right now and obscene I guess is trying to question the hills here and there's some ranches there I see a number of fire trucks there and I've seen more come into the area during the last couple of minutes to try to do structure protection in this area and I've also seen at the same time I've seen people leaving there but taking This is definite horse country out here and you know we've been talking about evacuation places where you could take courses and it's been very rough for those shelters because during the last couple of days of course a lot of the buildup because of all the animals from the easy fire and then a lot of those animals were able to go home today and now they're having to reopen some of those places again with a new wave of animals coming in and they certainly are going to see a lot because this is the kind of country out here where people do have horses and other watch animals that they are going to have to move so I've seen quite a few trailers here as people have been trying to move those animals out also in the series there's a lot of agriculture missing a lot of fields out here I'm not sure that they're off a condo I think there might be some of the kind of over here and maybe small Evans that I'm looking at over here and so certainly the fires are not good for those crops we've seen in the past with the Thomas fire and some of the other things where we're basically the you know the agricultural fields you know suffered not just smoke damage but you know sometimes the fire would actually burn into the fields and certainly better than you know if it burns into you know someone's home or something like that but very costly for the ranchers and even as a speaker Duncan I'm seeing that says something kind of amazing I'm looking at one of the hillsides of the fires burning and I'm realizing there's a fire access road up there and I've actually seen some fire trucks literally between branches of the fire and for those firefighters you know they're earning their pay today because they're in a rugged area basically between 2 sections of the fire and it looks like actually it looks like the bulldozer and I think it's trying to widen a path through there are so so so pretty. Raising stuff for these firefighters they're really do it's the basic work tonight yeah and you know although we're past the most critical stage of the winds we've had the last couple of days winds are still a factor in this right now and some looking at the National Weather Service remote observation page and although there is not an observation station right at South Mountain and that mountain top communications facility which seems to be near where this started earlier this evening we're still seeing some winds out of the east and the north sort of in the 15 to 20 mile an hour range and of course you combine that with the dynamics of fire and that is still really a tough row to hoe for for those firefighters who are moving into that right now so we're really not out of the woods on that and we also have to consider the fact that we still have this red flag warning in effect until at least 6 o'clock tomorrow night even though we're out of the wind right now this brush is just explicitly dry. Yeah I'm glad you brought that up because you know a lot of people thought I think with the wind and stats going to be the end of the issues the end of the concern and national weather service we're all just saying no that's not the case because even though the wind is easing off you still have as Duncan just mentioned you've got the very very dry conditions you've got humidity that's dropped down into the single digits in some areas so the fuel moisture very very dry and one of the interesting things about this way this fire is because we're keen and this is something that works in the firefighters favor yes I've been watching the flames you know when it's up high in the hill and it's up in the mountains it really moves a lot of flame because it's getting more when there is up there and then as it comes down because I'm in the foothills right now you know up not down at ground level but I'm partway up the hillside in the hills and and there's no wind where I'm at right now and the fire is it's getting too close to the area where I'm at right spoke as I was going straight up yes most of the way this is basically a little bit higher elevation here and it there's less wind if you get lower and that helps firefighters because when the fire started some ways of moving the school. So a lot of interesting dynamics here but we do know even though this is a gradual process even though we've got that red flag warning still in effect it is the conditions are supposed to improve for the next 24 hours until we get into that we can both get through the weekend we're supposed to be back to almost normal conditions but this time you're so so they can hang in there if they can you know keep this fire from you know you know oxygen and craziness Yeah yeah and that really worked with the fire I mean the whole block strategy worked I mean it turns out we got a little bit better mapping the acreage we think is going to go up to $700.00 acres we think it's going to bring a little bit higher and we know that we lost 2 homes unfortunate both those homes were they were a family it was a father and a son in the fire was one house the son in this family was a 2nd house and they had just moved in there just in the last couple of months so that that was very sad but as bad as that is we could have easily lost you know 203040 more homes and I mean you know it's amazing how close the flames came to a lot of this homes and firefighters safe and hopefully we won't be in that situation tonight with this fire up in the hills for the most part when I'm just learning now from Brian McGrath Twitter feed d.c. F.t.p. Io. That a press conference is going to be held at the fire station 51 at 11 o'clock tonight so presumably they'll be able to shed some more light on what the what they're learning about the fuels and when the last time that area burned and whatever I think we should also let people know that we do have an evacuation center set up now it's the Camry a community center at 1605 Burnley street and camera Rio also animals can be taken care of now small animals being accepted at the Animal Services Camry or shelter $680.00 a sion drive in camera real large animals can also be taken to the Ventura County Fairgrounds in Ventura once that fills up and it did fill a pretty quickly during the easy fire. County Animal Services is also arrange for the Santa Barbara Earl Warren showgrounds to take large animals as well and as you say a lot of horse country up in there a lot of other animals so folks have those resources and they cannot check out the sea emergency dot org for the very latest of course go to k.c.a.l. You dog or we're continuing to update all this information along with you at your k.c.a.l. You let's Rosco Twitter feed. Yeah yeah at at k.c.l. You news you just posted case you know is what will get you the latest when formation that we as well and folks are aware of by the way doing a great job there's a volunteer group that was formed specifically out of some of the fires we had up there they realize was a need and so they are very very organized they just there are a lot of the folks are there are they like to be called Horse people there there are folks that you know are you know her questions and they base often eat up some of the fires in Santa Barbara County slave organized a group and their very set up to come in not just when we talk about horses but I mean I know during the Thomas fire they have llamas they had. Just sheep they had all kinds of and it wasn't just horses and that's what we've seen actually during this most recent cartoon seen all kinds of animals brought in but we you know we tend to think of horses but basically any kind of livestock a place for me here and if I speak here you know we've been talking for a couple of minutes and the fire has been one of those numbers because it was trying to move over this ridge and then all of a sudden I'm seeing smoke and it's because the wind is actually right now it's starting to push the fire back on itself and so firefighters are getting a break here I'm seeing a lot more of a glow over on the western side of the fire because it really this is spread out this is not one continuous wall of fire it's basically a Burns an area and then I think it burns out in some areas then it moves on to another so if you were to look at this like an aerial picture of this it would be like you know some flames and some areas in the big black patches and so so the area that I was in that I'm in right now was really really active like 20 minutes ago and now all of a sudden it's come down and really kind of move to the west and I think I'm going to the west and get an eyeball of that for you just a couple of minutes Ok well that's pretty much everything we know at this point about the Maria fire we will continue throughout the evening in the overnight hours as long as it takes to keep you up to date on the Maria fire I'm Duncan lively with Lancer Roscoe Stay tuned for our next report last. Will be checking in again probably within the next 45 minutes or so and certainly earlier than that if events warrant I will talk to you later and we're going to head now back into b.b.c. World Service this is k.c.a.l. You with coverage of the Maria fire. But for Democrats there is also the danger of a backlash after this so Chris looking ahead to the next step in the inquiry What can we expect to happen now and what are the possible outcomes Well they still want to speak to a number of people whether it's in front of the cameras or away from them who do know information about President Trump's alleged attempt to really put pressure on Ukraine in order to get an investigation into his political rival potential presidential rival Joe Biden and his son Hunter had business dealings in Ukraine and now one of the people that we're waiting to find out whether he will give evidence is John Bolton who is was the former national security adviser for the White House it seems like at certain times he has been very concerned about the conversations that were being had with Ukraine in fact to one stage according to some evidence that's already been given there's been suggestions and reports in the papers that he compared it to a drug deal now if he gives evidence against President Trump that's going to be something to watch and it's going to be a very very contentious time in Washington of course just to give people a timeline this is not going to happen quickly we're going to have to have an impeachment vote in the House of Representatives and then it moves on to the Senate where potentially a trial could be held and of course there is a Republican majority in the Senate so while the Democrats control a Heise Republicans control the Senate and that means it's probably unlikely the President Trump will lose his job but not before we have a lot of argument in Washington sparkler in Washington to Austrian our bet on smoking in restaurants and bars comes into force from today the country has been due to bring in a ban total ban last year but the previous go. Which included the far right Freedom Party scrapped the plans but after the fall of the government in May The ban has been reintroduced Bethany Bell reports from Vienna after years of control to see Austria has banned smoking in restaurants cafes and bars doctors say the long overdue move paves the way for a new era in health the country had been on the verge of bringing in a total ban last year but the plans were overturned because of pressure from the far right freedom posse which was part of the last government the former head of the Freedom Party Heights Christian himself a smoker had argued that people should have freedom of choice however after the coalition collapsed because of a scandal implicating Mr Clarke and the ban was brought back and Austria's current technocrat administration around 24 percent of Australians over the age of 15 smoke daily back in the Bell reporting you're listening to the news room from the b.b.c. World Service here in London it's coming up to $530.00 g.m.t. And you're with the newsroom. Now to Peru where 5 loggers have been charged with murder after 4 indigenous activists were killed in a remote jungle area of the country the activists were fighting the illegal extraction of timber from their territory to temper businessman and 3 loggers were charged with the murder of the men who are all from the Russian community or America's editor kinder Spirit told me more about the case this case is really unprecedented in Peru this region where this is a regional prosecutor who's bringing this case who has I she charged these men he lives in an isolated jungle region of Peru on the border with Brazil and it's rare to be able to gather evidence under those conditions very rare for there to be witnesses or ways to link a death with a crime so so really this is a very Also this is a very violent region and a very lawless region so this prosecutor is an extremely brave man to be doing this and who was Edwin. Evan shorter campaigned against illegal logging for at least 6 years and he wrote hundreds of letters to officials on the on the topic he was a very well known even internationally well known member of the of of his indigenous community and he had gathered notes and information evidence for years and in fact when he was killed with 4 of his friends they had just been traveling for days to a local town to give in some of these no sense of make formal complaints against forestry officials about some of the illegal logging had been going on in their lands so this is a big 1st and a major development but what happens next so what we're expecting next is a hearing from the judge in the next few weeks he'll accept the accusation and then it will be a case of of seeing if the the 5 men will turn out in court at the moment they're believed to be living somewhere in the Peruvian jungle it's not clear if they're going to turn up it's not going to be clear if they'll they'll appeal and there are also concerns about corruption the Peruvian legal system is pretty corrupt is not known for being transparent so it's always still this is only a very beginning stage but in a sense this is a key case for all campaigners in the Amazon region across the 9 countries of the Amazon where there are so many murders of activists trying to stop illegal logging disappeared Let's hear now from northern Syria were Turkish forces have been in an offensive against Kurdish forces following the withdrawal of u.s. Networks are being rolled out across China today 2 months earlier than expected marking a key step in Beijing's ambitions to become a technology superpower while China isn't the 1st country to release 5 g. Technology to consumers this stands out because it's making the service available on such a massive scale the superfast 5th generation mobile internet is promising download speeds 10 to 20 times faster than we have now but will everyone in China be able to benefit from 5 g. I asked our Asia business correspondent Marie Coorey In theory yes because the 3 stay doing Chinese telecom giants and China Mobile you. Coleman China Telecom they're all launching it today as are they going to start offering 5 g. Package from as cheap as about 18 you are still is a month or so it's actually quite affordable The only issue though of course is that not many people. Use it 5 g. Enabled phones just yet so you have to have more customers if you actually own them but companies have been releasing these products so it is quite possible that more people will stop buying them and more people will have access to them as he said it is ahead of shit jewel and it feels like I've been talking to Santa is that it feels like China is trying to send a message to the u.s. That you know the trade war that of course the 2 countries a looked in China's economy is slowing down but despite all that they're not going to affect this tech revolution being affected especially with Huawei playing a major role in this Now earlier we were discussing it here in the office about you know we've had 43 g. Than 4 g. How big of a difference will it really matter how big of a difference will 5 g. Make Well 11 sentence that I quite liked was that a 4 g. Was like skateboard apparently 5 G.'s going to be like a rocket ship I think that sums it up doesn't it that it's going to be super super Vos to say it is very exciting if you do have access to Ed as he said China isn't the 1st country to roll this out of the countries like South Korea of course another very innovative tech giant in Asia has started to pilots of. Some parts of the u.s. As well but this is the world's biggest commercial 5 g. Network and by launching this way ahead of should Jal China is definitely sending a message that it's tech superpower is definitely growing and Huawei is right at the center of the ball giant from China how does this play for them well the company obviously makes a lot of things and hallway as well as other come. Make a show me Chinese maker they have. Being everything I'm dating and new things ahead of the launch and they hope that customers will buy them and this is going to start affecting their bottom line Ixia. Offered to ease her pain I guess something that you would take that the woman at the shirts yes keep body peace and Italian away then the following day Masha got more cookies or cocaine and Italian wine local slang for heroin the drugs she tells me helped her to forget I was there you should speak the truth yet. The way you speak the truth or choose us to do our San Felice search shall set you free Sanders says matter is not alone in having a delayed reaction to her truncated childhood one be a what transpired in this country. A lot of psychological effects on them so right now they have nothing to pin on and some of them before there was this saw that life was fine after the war when. It play on them a lot as we talk to Sando people start gathering around Frank one of her fellow counsellors who's just arrived here to have. Basically a new baby he's holding what looks like a roll of fabric but then I spot a little boy with a wet Hasluck to cross his tiny scout he was born last night to one of the women in the rehab program with. The same q. Trying you're. Just trying to sell your baby for 3 chicks intercellular due to the lives of the weak. And the people women Bravo. To look at I don't want to look at a baby. This is real whole. This is the sauce to. James points out the mother and turns away. She's in her late twenties with delicate features and she looks too distressed to talk RINGBACK Meanwhile Frank is making phone calls his brow creased with worry. And the only reason for. Rick's. List. We'll be back tomorrow to find out what happens to the little boy but now we've come to meet a young woman who's speaking up for this. Is why when the police were reading they get thoughts. I was like this is that they're weak if you want to be of these people you have to think rehabilitation centers instead of me saying need be Borelli listen to me let me put it in my music. On the street . The minute. The Liberian gone and rapper pills has often been a victim of petty crime perpetrated by addicts one enterprising thief stole a phone from her house at night by using a fishing rod with a magnet on the end kills understands the desperation behind such acts her songs all go is all about drugs destroying dreams and lives in Liberia. 25 pills is too young to remember much about the war but there's a new generation of among her peer group we have a. Detriment or some of their. Fellow my our fellow musicians sing about it constantly a lot of your fellow musicians hearing about. You know Dean. Music is a myth. If you like you saw in the message you will pull out the people fully. Although Liberia's Drug Enforcement Agency has made some seizures motorcycle Korea's only need to pay small bribes to customs officials to get drugs through the country's poorest borders and the latest threat as pills says is the opioid painkiller Tramadol which some suspect is pilfered from hospitals. And now we go to our field reports in the city center 20 counselors including Frank and sand a gathered for their monthly coordination meeting. Where that we heard was a fellow who are seriously ill we improve. Those drugs and spin off. Frank tells the group he's been buying antibiotics for clients of the center out of his own pocket one had advanced tuberculosis if Justin about lost his left other stage in the What's more the counselors themselves haven't been paid for 2 months after the meeting we meet ribbon Logan the project coordinator Liberia needs a national free drug rehabilitation program currently we don't see anything right now not the 1st year that this present this government took over. There was no line for rehab in addition into the budget. Liberia's president the ex football star George Weah was born in one of Monrovia's ghettos he came to power in January 2800 pledging to tackle corruption and poverty in a country where nearly 2 thirds of the population exists on less than $2.00 a day we carried the youth vote with his pro poor agenda but nearly 2 years on he's failed to deliver says ribbon hasn't done anything for the good the boys in this country there were promises made to them and those promises were never failed Ruben comes from a more privileged background but he was once addicted to heroin himself. Going to college because of that because effectively I wasn't paying attention and I wasn't going to school Ruben spent his college money on drugs and it wasn't until his youngest sister began hiding her purse from him that Rubin really woke up to the problem when he got clean he started going into the ghettos and persuading others to do the same will catch up with Reuben later on but now we go back to the counseling center near the market for a 2nd day Frank tells us he managed to find a place for the new mother and baby to stay the night to breath very baby about to No problem has been a baby slept and this morning she was able to bring. You the baby again would give her a form for the. Free medication. Now gone there yet because you. Want to take your drugs sure not your attended a baby so she left this morning and went to take your drugs. The mother whose name is Princess knows her baby is in pain because of all the drugs in his system I said do you think you can stop taking the drugs yes because if you don't stop then you will have to give your baby to someone else to look after you. Sadly. But how do you feel about what's happened here. In the layers than it was a. Little bit to be an activity you. Give me it's getting a few minutes to get unexpectedly an official from the Ministry of Health sweeps past the vegetable stalls in the market and into the small yard she's come to talk to Princess and have boyfriend was allowed argument breaks out meanwhile Princess sits in the corner silent beholding had a clipboard you know is the difficulty of us somebody to give you a shot away whatever he said be wishing to do to us that he should do whatever he must do to go a few minutes later the baby is carried off by the official who will look for foster parents. And Sister house this American site. Truck or so yeah it's just $11.00 very small room with a concrete shelf will be got a mattress on top of that and had only been living here well over 2 years now. Way back with me actually again the addict an ex fighter who was shot in the leg her home is in an alleyway of shacks behind the market they're held up with corrugated metal and tree branches but like how are you your money to buy food and everything just says for morning I go has says for morning when she gets she says men who spend an hour with her pay $5.00 Us dollars The quick ones only a dollar. How do you feel about doing the sex work feel hear. It talk is that talking about it is a shame of myself. But drug habit costs her about $10.00 a day so food is restricted to a few spoonfuls of rice in the morning to reduce my $10.00 worth and you have any money left to buy food no money is finished so what are you going to do. She has to start divorce all over again when she doesn't smoke to so-called hubby she is able to do anything to make me feel weak as being male with. Time on his head to come back to week here Sandow and her colleagues know they can only do so much with songs and pep talks they urgently need a rehabilitation center away from the ghetto where people can be housed and receive proper health care or are you worried about what might happen if they don't get the necessary medical 3 more it isn't. Because in the disguise of people when you tell them yes it should be yes if it's no. There you have lost trust with them. The love cooking and food trust but you know one thing and that is what these people government does a little. Is that much little just. One Liberian politician has been very vocal about the need to tackle the drug epidemic as the ex-wife of Charles Taylor the rebel leader and former president now serving a 50 year prison sentence for crimes against humanity the current vice president Jewel Howard Taylor seems an unlikely to. He's been campaigning to toughen the law so that traffickers can no longer buy their way out of prison if you bring drugs into any country and you give it to young people who have no way of getting out of it on the consistent. If you check around West Africa you find out that because our laws are the week yes. We've become a 2nd thing is that we don't have any facilities to do with the situation so we're going to build our facility and we're going to make it a detox and a rehabilitation center government will have to provide some support because these are our citizens right so you do feel that the president is sincere and really committed because I felt like a lot of the people we met felt disillusioned they feel abandoned by the government this is an issue for him so I believe that you know next year at this time at the latest these facilities should be up and running and now we can begin to really deal with the problems Ok I'm looking back at the former government the former president to him you were married for 8 years bears no little responsibility for this whole crisis because many child soldiers who fought with him were introduced to drugs by their commanders how do you feel looking back on that I was not in Liberia during the war years I did not conscripted any child soldier and I don't think I should continue to be punished because. I think I should be given the chance to contribute positively to my country and to the young people of this nation and that is my commitment if we are not able to channel the energies in the vision and the aspirations of the young people between the door. It's quite a nice environment here isn't it because there's a lot of greenery Vereker cannot trees the house is a painted nice bright colors and green. And it looks like people are wearing their Sunday best and yet it seems like. A proper get together of the people that live around here ribbon Logan the coordinator of the rehab program has invited us to a community meeting in Painesville where anger against burglaries and other crimes attributed to the games has reached a boiling point you look around you. A lot of young people it is Ok while going to be go into the ghettos with machetes with clubs sticks is going to be voluntary. Sounds like it could turn very unpleasant hearing on a stick. So you have to set it to do a little thing called a few live joint project schedule drop tanks don't fit tell a kid what you put in a month or fact and community. Lots of I just hated people soon put the hands up to speak. For different. Or us or not we cannot city we should not be afraid of death there should be a front of us the castle cannot remain a community. The. 'd look community will go in my view he is trust free. Let think I believe the community can do what he's got a side in the trucks. Coming out of hot factory not finally it's Rubins time in the us. Even though my name is remember. And I've been working with those for what 10 years plus. We have this company called of us a Restore Hope of our visual restore of our. Of I was. So. Young brothers and sisters who are using the substance right. Of victims of the Sufis it will be any one of. You listen to this is the memory of the communities. In this community but is the business. So because a couple of the guys without cost eyes mumble that they don't mean to cause trouble and want to get home with the community the atmosphere is softens a bit this talk of setting up a neighborhood watch and a committee to sort out the problem. They want a positive way for me and us what I believe because the message is cut across so I'm going to discuss with them and we're going to be able to talk it over to see how best to fight on the cable solution ripping his visibly relieved at a repeat of the vigilante attacks and bloodshed red light has for now at least. If you look at. Nation. Where we are coming from I don't think we should be speaking of the issue. Especially if a community is frightening very frightening and if we're not careful we might go back to where we come from the right. The out. The. Back of the rehab project I hear that fortunately princess's baby is still in the family being looked after by Have grandmother Miata tells me she's trying to cut down on the drugs she trained as a hairdresser wants and her dream is to run her own Salang one day she says it's hard to get customers because people see her as but today she's platting a friend's hand in the market she works really quickly she's very nimble fingers my impressive thing. That is the feeling of doing something you feel fine makes you feel useful. Meanwhile another go is showing off his carpentry skills making French's with some wood donated to the center now at least says sand they'll be somewhere for participants to sit these people. That president. Does. So if you. Want them and not just them you've got useful people. As we leave the center there is some glimmers of hope but my overall sense as we say goodbye to me at a dialogue of Princess and the others is that this is a lost generation lives forever blighted by the Civil War our colleague James was surprised to see some of his childhood friends among the addicts at the center who promptly begged him for cash back in the car he's dispirited Yeah. The present situation. Is a hell of a. The feeling that you don't want to feel you. Did this is this is this is unfair is sad day for me. You You You You You You see men you see you see young people you see women all of them so it is very well in these 10 year bond even with all of your humanity intact this is a test of him on it it will stay with these guys I think these people were counseling didn't do a whole lot I think didn't need to be to be to be appreciated is all very difficult to stay and we didn't. Go. There. Assignment was presented by me Lucy Ashton produced by Jess Cassidy from the police you studios a California Lutheran University this is listener supported k.c.a.l.
