The supposed Property Owner claimed to be out of town, said the door was open so he could see the home, which it was, and asked him to wire money. Kim its likely one of the biggest decisions in your life, and scammers are jumping at the opportunity to make big bucks at your expense. Shane torres someones desperate and really needs a place to live so theyre falling for it. Kim shane torres is a broker at remax real estate concepts. He says this scam is nothing new. Shane they will pull our exact photos and verbage from our listings and use that and sometimes theyll actually go as far as to create fake email addresses and pretend that they are us. Kim but lately. Shane thats a legitmate one. Kim hes seeing it happen more often, to more people. Shane its been at least one a week for the last few months. Kim imposters posting homes for rent on websites like craigslist, zillow and hotpads. Com that are actually for sale by real estate companies. Torres says these scammers often claim theyre out of town and will hide a key or leave a door open so the potential renter can see the home as long as they wire them money first. Shane that raises a red flag. Kim limited information about the renter, few pictures of the property and homes renting for far less than theyre obviously worth should also raise red flags. Des Moines Police say a patient stole a taxi from Mercy Medical Center Friday the suspect was Luis Orellanarivera. Apparently he was discharged and didnt want to walk 6 blocks home. The taxi was in park, but still running. The taxi company, trans iowa, says police found the car within 30 minutes. Orellanarivera was getting out of the taxi and still had the keys in his pocket. The taxi driver was back on the road with his car in about an hour. Dozens of people lined the street in the 2300 block of grand avenue saturday protesting planned parenthood and governor branstad for not voting to defund the organization. The protesters goal was to raise awareness and show they are not backing down. Adam thomas has been on the run since wednesday. Omaha Police Arrested him friday after someone called in a tip. Now hes facing charges in two states. Officers got a tip around 10 00 p. M. Vladmair since 2004, he has refurbished upwards of 1,500 paintings for close to 300 institutions nationwide, an estimated savings of about 5 million. But his generosity is not for the big budget institutions. These smaller museums, without a conservation department, theyre lucky if they can pay for the looking at the warmth and depth of the scene vladmair joe kapler is the Museum Curator at the Wisconsin Historical society. He has treated about 65 paintings for a market value of about 270,000. An incredible gift. These paintings will look great and be in proper condition for decades and decades. Its really been a joy for me to be able to preserve cultural history to places that could never even afford these services. This opposing Property Owner claimed to be out of town but the door was open so he could see the home. He asked him to wire him money and after he did, he realized it was a hope. Hoax. Kim its likely one of the biggest decisions in your life and scammers are jumping at the opportunity to make big bucks at your expense. Someones desperate and needs a place to live so theyre falling for it. Kim shane torres is a broker at remax real estate concepts. He says this scam is nothing new. They will pull our exact photos and verbage from our listings and use that, and sometimes theyll actually go as far as to create fake email addresses and pretend that they are us.
