Stacey the governor says reigning in the cost of medicaid is critical to manage a tight state budget. Do we want medicaid to grow 150 million in cost next year . Eric now indianola schools are discovering mumps cases cropping up in their student body. Kccis emmy victor tells us so a similar illness. Emmy this time of year calls for cases of the flu or a bad cold. But Indianola High School is facing a different problem. It just being mumps. You know it is not the only thing that you hear all the time. Emmy it started with one student getting the mumps right before christmas break. Since then 3 other Lab Confirmed cases and 3 probable cases have surfaced. We started talking about whatever we can do to make everyone aware and try to limit the spread of it. Emmy teachers are now disinfecting their rooms before each class period. Custodians are wiping down water fountains and other commonly used areas. And notices have gone out to parents. This is an illness with a long incubation period and people are contagious for a while. Emmy the Warren CountyHealth Department says these cases call for everyone to refresh their medical history. Five of the students with mumps were vaccinated but two were not. Alert and aware if nothing else , education.
