Jennifer michigans top environmental regulator keith creagh and acting chief of the epas water office are among those appearing before a House Committee this morning. In written testimony obtained by the associated press, creagh says the state should have required flint to treat its water corrosioncausing elements after elevated lead levels were discovered in the citys water a year ago. But its not just the state thats under the microscope, the hearing will also focus on the epas role in administering the Safe Drinking Water act. Alyx good morning, we are on douglas about to enter the interstate. We wanted to show you what it is looking like on the roadways throughout town. You can see how icy it is. We are following a snow plow as we speak. Roads are slushy and as we get close to to the sunrise, it will be colder today. Refreeze is a possibility. As you are getting on and off interstates, it is a lot more slick. We have noticed theres more snow on the on and off ramps than the interstates. The second you go to get off, reduce your speed and take turns very slowly. It is very icy. We are about to enter the interstate and as the light hits it, you see ice underneath the snow. As we approach the interstate here you notice traffic is maybe 10 Miles Per Hour, slower than normal. Traffic was moving about 50 Miles Per Hour a little bit ago. Know the conditions on the road. That is what the iowa state patrol wants to remind you. Give yourself extra time for going out the door and give extra time between you and the vehicle in front of you. Go out the door with a fully charged cell phone in case something happens. You need to access an emergency crew if you need to. Know that the blowing wind and wind chills will impact visibility as you are driving. It is not so bad, not by many crashes yet which, considering the elements, that is good news.
