Danielle the abc news debate kicked off with a bit of confusion. Dr. Ben carson and donald trump did not realize they have been called to the stage. While other candidates passed them by. Trump eventually took center stage, in a debate that led to several confrontations. Flint is dealing with a water crisis. Water is contaminated with lead and other contaminates. Clinton brought up the crisis in flint during this weeks debate. The democratic candidate plans to meet with flints mayor to discuss the challenges of repairing that problem. Japan and south korea reporting that north korea has launched a rocket. The japanese government said the rocket passed over the Southern Japanese island of okinawa. But japan says no antimissiles were fired. The launch follows north koreas claim last month to have tested a hydrogen bomb. Japans government says its now considering new sanctions against north korea. Laura a man convicted of a polk county murder has died in prison. The Iowa Department of corrections says 66yearold David Freeman died of pancreatic cancer. Freeman was serving a life prison sentence for murder, back in 1979. Todd well, a small Marion County community is rallying to save its general store. And its been a fixture in the town of bussey for decades kccis rose heaphy was there today. And she explains why its so dear to this town. Rose todd, this place is the heart of the community. For many people, its the closest store for miles. But it could be closed and put up for auction by this march. In the small town of bussey, one place is always bustling. Larry i can get my pop. Anything i needs here. Rose katydids general store offers a little bit of everything. From hardware to groceries i love you. Rose even hugs. Candy its not only a place where you come to get something without having to put miles on your car, its also a little family. Rose candy evans owns katydids. She inherited it from her mother, kathy, when she passed away from cancer three years ago. Her mother had owned the store since 1997. Herself to this building, this store, this business. And then, she left it to me and said, carry on. So, thats what im trying to do. Rose but that could be in jeopardy. The family still needs to pay 100,000 of their mothers medical bills. The department of Human Services says its now time to pay up, or the store will go up for auction. Candy its scary to think that theyre just going to come in. Come in to work one day and have a notice on my door saying, im closed. And i have no control over it. Rose so now, the tightknit community is pitching in to help save the store. They started a gofundme page to help raise the final 50,000. Candy the whole town stepped up and said, were going to do this. And i believe they can. Rose for the town, its family helping family. Bussey needs katydids, and katydids needs bussey. Rose the department of Human Services didnt not comment on this specific case. But an official explained this is part of the estate recovery assistance for medicaid. Todd well, last month, the iowa hawkeyes came to california for the rose bowl. This is the 99th annual iowa state bowling tournament. Dick its enjoyable to see. Laura parts of central iowa facing a possible blizzard for super bowl sunday. Kccis meteorologist Jason Sydejko with your forecast. Jason that is the truth. Middle of winter, not totally unexpected. Let us go over quickly what an actual blizzard. Is. You dont need massive amounts, just wind in excess of 35 miles per hour, helping to blow that snow around and limit visibility. This is over an extended period of time three hours or greater. The best chances tomorrow will be northwestern portions of the state. If you do have travel plans, know that those roads could be fairly snowcovered pretty quickly. Mid30s, that should continue for us into the morning hours. You can see that fairly broad area that will be impacted by the storm. We have the blizzard watch off to the south there in the red, that is the warning. You can see high Wind Warnings off to the west, pretty expansive and strong system. Really, the main factor will be the wind. Off to the north, they are getting quite a bit of snow in spots. Behind that, fairly moisturestrapped. We will not see that level of snow, on the order of an inch or two. The problem is it will be blowing around. 39 out there now, utterly comfortable. Wind has not picked up yet, they will late into the afternoon hours. Once they do, we will have that wind chill drop, 20 or. Not exactly bonechilling. 40 degrees is the high tomorrow, still staying relatively mild as but when the wind, it will not exactly be comfortable. Futurecast takes out some cloud cover in the morning. Goes. Its way into the morning hours, look how scattered the snow is. Not talking huge amounts, as i said before, an inch or two, at best. Could be drifting off to the northwest, as the system pushes throughout monday, starting to pick up some of that snow.
