Mark to the surprise of the companys owner and law enforcement, the trailer with most of its contents, has been found almost 6 weeks after it disppeared. But returning the trailer is proving to be a bigger challenge than anyone expected. Michael zimmerman hadnt seen his trailer since december, on Surveillance Video as he watched the thieves drive off into the night. Inside was everything he purchased to start a kids triathlon series in the midwest last summer. Bike racks, barricades, fencing, cones, audio equipment. All gone. Its safe to say zimmerman did not expect to see his trailer again. Wow. Savings on still inside. I dont know, there is a lot of relief. Mark the thieves took what they could sell. Generators are gone, it looks like audio equivalent is gone. Mark but left everything else. The trailer was found at a scenic overlook near in warren county. Not hidden or burned, but parked where authorities would find it. Maybe they actually had a part and didnt want to take all the stuff i dont know. Mark the owner of the milo towing company that retrieved the trailer saw our story about the theft and refused to take any payment from zimmerman. Today was the day tom bales agreed to return the trailer, but the reunion will have to wait. It broke loose and we went back and forth about six times. The bridge was getting close i didnt know it was going to be the bridge or the ditch, but we mark besides the tires, the trailer is intact. As is zimmermans sense of humor. Whats kind of ironic and funny, was the joke we kept saying that someday were going to find it all in a ditch right . Mark insured, but the contents the trailer was insured, but the contents were not in the were not. In the past month zimmerman received 26,000 from donors, many in the triathlon community. This afternoon, those donors received an email saying since the trailer was found they could have their money back. As of a half hour ago 60 donors , had responded, none asked for their money back. Police say senior officer christopher brockert tried to stop a car just before 2 30 but it sped off. It did stop when the driver lost control. But when the driver got going again, he aimed the car right at officer brockert, who opened fire, but no one was hit. Police arrested 25yearold austin allen. Hes now charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, theft, and eluding. We are learning more about a night at 2731 61st street, south of merle hay mall. The victim has been identified as 35yearold brian houston. The polk county medical examiner is conducting an autopsy to determine an exact cause of death. The fire broke out around 7 00 last night. Stacey ames Police Arrest a man for buying hundreds of dollars worth of lottery tickets with bogus checks. 21yearold Jeremy Scheffers is facing 15 counts of lottery fraud, theft, forgery and drug charges. Investigators linked scheffers to a fake check used to buy the tickets. It is believed scheffers made the fake checks from the back of a trailer. The Tama County Sheriffs Office warns about a Group Targeting elderly central iowa residents with Home Improvement scams. The Sheriffs Department is looking for these men. Elvis allison, also known as michael shelton, tyson allison, thompson, dustin hanson, jason grooms or bobby mcdaniel. They are also looking for bobby allison. The trio is from silver lake, indiana, but they drive vehicles with iowa or montana plates.
