The department of public works is out taking care of the roads, but they have a lot more money to deal with this january than the last one. These snowplows have been sitting pretty idle, which is unusual in the heart of winter. We are about halfway through the snow season, and just around one third of the money has been spent so far. Emmy a 3. 2 million snow budget has hardly been touched. Snow removal prep costs have not even reached 1 million yet. Public works director Jonathan Gano says over the past fifteen years, we would have spent nearly by this point in the 2 million winter. Its been an odd winter in the sense that we have gotten small snows. Emmy most of the savings will go towards the next fiscal year. By not having to order as much snow melts like salt. We will have leftover stockpile salt from the winter that just ended. Emmy but with the way that the winters in central iowa can fluctuate you can never be too , sure that snow wont come in in the next months.
