Final release and that was on the daft own label from orchestral con part of that we heard from Joe Wilson and his orchestra this goes back either late fifty's early sixty's their version of Viva Toronto the group Del Chicano had a hit with that but Joe Wilson actually wrote it and did it originally and this is from the complete Pacific jazz recordings of Gerald Wilson and his orchestra and again Viva Toronto we began with Sergio Monroy from Spain Spain and from his cd which is just call Monroy I played a track called one doe de good jazz and again nice thing nice piano flamenco work from Sergio Monroy Well I want to go ahead and continue now I want to play something from a trio of piano players this cd came out about 4 years ago it's called plain Leko not if you're not familiar with. Ernesto Lekota they refer to him as the Cuban Gershwin written some really really fine songs probably some that you'd recognize Well definitely some he wrote Mali Gania wrote on the loose Sia and many many more and I want to play a track from the cd which features Chito Valdes gone Zoller Rubel Kaba Michel Camillo I saw the 3 of them in s.f. Jazz a couple years ago they played singly they played as duos and they played all 3 together and it was I would say spectacular So this is their version of Lecco nose under Lucy. Than. The. Man where I've been. Born. Or where ne'er Blair I am I am. I am the I Am the money. I I am. I That track is called Sendero on this from the soundtrack of the motion picture picture of the Motorcycle Diaries that has to do I saw that movie twice I don't hardly see anything once but that's a really fine movie has to do it the Che Guevara and but the soundtrack is written by Gustavo Santo ly he's an Argentinian composer also a movie producer he's done the music for several movies including Brokeback Mountain Babel Motorcycle Diaries the book a life and a bunch more again from Argentina really really fine composer before that we heard from Omar Sosa and Sekou and this is from c d called transparent water and from that see the play the cut called Dari and features Omar Sosa he's playing various keyboards doing the vocals also Sekou cater who's plays the kora and also does some vocals on that cd that began with a recording called plainly. Like a mention there Nestor Leko no known as a Cuban Gershwin and from this I played under Lucy there are 3 piano players on here to chill Valdes gone Zollo Rubel Kaba and Michel Camillo on that track that I played it just featured Gonzalo Rubel Cobb on piano along with Raimundo Ahmed or on the Spanish guitar and lean Cortez playing the hone. Well let's see we've got just about 25 minutes before midnight come up at midnight we have some overnight jazz for you I want to play several more tracks yet we have time want to play something now from Los Hombres Cali and this group from New Orleans and they kind of combine some traditional New Orleans music with some Latin music when you play a track called James Booker Gene Booker famous New Orleans piano player in the same vein as Dr John. Mit Professor Longhair several others and again this is low so embarrassed Caliendo s. And a track called James Booker. We News. Was done. This month was the sun then said it got. son moved on the. That's a great group actually from Cuba though Sufi erosive been around for many years they do a lot of Spanish language doo wop and that too was called Put to get van from Los a fear of The Sapphires We also heard from Los Lobos just another band from East l.a. And we listen to them do sob or me I'm trying to think of what to say on the dedication on that but I guess I can't say anything on the air. And then we began with. The end this from their cd called Volume 5 Carneval and their version of a tune called James Booker and this version of Los on. This Irvin Mayfield on trumpet Bill Summers on percussion and a lot of other New Orleans musicians want to play one more track before I turn it over and over night jazz here and this is something by Conrad her awake his version of John Coltrane's impressions and this is from a cd called the Latin side of John Coltrane. In the background we have Conrad her awake from the cd the Latin side of John Coltrane famous Coltrane tune called impressions the leader Conrad her wig playing trombone and he has a lot of other people behind him there this is k.c.
