Iowans currently on medicaid received this packet in the mail. It tells them to choose an m co a managed care organization. There are four out ofstate mcos to choose from. Greg no other state in the country has tried to move to managed care in this compressed timeline. Greg boattenhamer of the Iowa Hospital Association says governor branstads deadline of januarty 1st to change over the states Medicaid Program is way too agressive. How do people know which of these companies to pick . Which one will include their current doctors and hospitals . Well, they dont know. Greg 5 58 its challenging to know who to sign up with when the networks dont exist. The department of Human Services is working on a list of providers that have signed on with one of the companies, but hasnt released a number. Only saying, more providers are signing up every day, and were working hard to remove any contracting barriers to make as smooth of a transition as possible for medicaid members and providers. 6 41 when weve contacted larger Health Care Systems in the state, des moines metro hospitals, theyve indicated they havent signed contracts with any of the mcos. And thats a big worry with very little time left. 7 30 our concern is we get to january first and we have a train wreck on our hands that we dont know how to manage. At a press conference in lincoln yesterday. Lancaster county attorney joe kelly said forensic evidence wasnt an issue because authorities knew who was in the house on nov 15th when the alleged incident was to have taken place. Three Football Players and 3 others. Authorities say a rape kit was conducted but doubt still remains. The miltenbergers son, jack, has severe breathing problems and will need round the clock care once he comes back home to elk point. Jack has spent most of his life in an ohio childrens hospital. Right now, jack is only in his elk point home through pictures and thoughts. But, his family hopes hell be able to come home in january. If they lineup the inhome nursing care theyll need to manage his ventilator and other medical concerns. Erin miltenberger says, right now theres such a nursing shortage, its difficult to find those home nurses. Ben says, weve kind of been this close to where we are now, but then hes had a setback. The fire happened yesterday around 8 am. Sioux city fire firefighters had to make a hole in the roof of the home in order to contain the fire. They say the fire started in the kitchen and spread up into the attic. The familys cat was able to be rescued. The home is un livable for the timebeing and the red cross is helping the family. Jessica rae just 5 weeks from when iowas Medicaid Program is scheduled to change from state run to privately managed, an Administrative Law judge is asking the state to make changes. An Administrative Law judge asked the state to throw out one of four agreements reached with forprofit companys to run the program. According to the des moines register. The judge is asking that the contract awarded to wellcare be thrown out. The company has been accused of mismanagement in other states. Governor branstads communications director, acknowledged the judges ruling. But did not comment on the request. Instead ben hammes said the ruling allows the program to move forward the complete re vamp of the states medicaid system has some voicing concerns. The soup kitchen runs on donations. People volunteer to spent their time so that others may a have a warm meal on a day typically spent with the family.
